Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Stark Raving Dad", what causes Mr. Burns to label Homer as a "free-thinking anarchist"?

Answer: Homer's shirt is pink

Bart's "lucky red hat" is accidentally included the laundry, dying everything, including Homer's white shirt, pink. Mr. Burns notices Homer's "act of rebellion" while watching a closed-circuit image of the employees mirthlessly filing in for work.
2. In "Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington", who, according to the Essay Contestant from Mobile, Alabama, is "spineless" and "yellow"?

Answer: The American Non-Voter

This is one of the hilarious patriotic essays that we hear during this episode. Nelson Muntz's speech in particular is a great parody of the mindless flag-waving that sometimes passes for patriotism in this country.
3. In "When Flanders Failed", Ned opens the Leftorium. Who offers "my kingdom for a left-handed can opener"?

Answer: Mr. Burns

Mr. Burns exclaims this in a line reminiscent of Shakespeare's "Richard III," when the evil Richard shouts "my kingdom for a horse." Interestingly, almost all of Springfield's citizens turn out to be left-handed according to this episode, including Ned and Todd Flanders, Krusty, Dr. Hibbert, Lionel Hutz, Burns, Moe, Akira the martial arts instructor, and possibly Barney (although he might just be wearing the "Kiss Me I'm Left Handed" shirt to pick up women).
4. In "Like Father, Like Clown," what radio show does Rabbi Krustofsky (Krusty's father) do every Sunday night on KBBL?

Answer: "Gabbin' About God"

The show's intro states that "in order to keep our broadcasting licence, we devote Sunday night dead time to public service shows of limited appeal". Mind you, there does seem to be fair number of people calling in.
5. In "Saturdays of Thunder", what name does Martin give to his soap box racer?

Answer: "Honor Roller"

Martin's racer, not surprisingly, is the fastest due to its wind-tunnel tested ergonomics. The big surprise is Nelson's surprisingly well-built racer, which comes complete with rotating blades to shred his opponents' wheels.
6. "Flaming Moe's" is one of the classic episodes. What is name of the "good-time drinking and eating emporium" that desperately wants its hands on the recipe for the 'Flaming Moe'?

Answer: Tipsy McStagger's

When Moe asks to meet the company's founder, the company rep explains that there is no actual "Tipsy McStagger". He is an amalgam of many logos. The show is making fun of the many 'wacky-name' bar-chains, of which T.G.I. Friday's is one famous example.
7. In "Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk," the Springfield nuclear plant is sold to Germans. How much does Mr. Burns sell the plant for?

Answer: $100 million

At first unwilling to sell, Mr. Burns declares that "you'll see the Statue of Liberty wearing Lederhosen before you see Germans running my plant!" However, he "grudgingly accepts" when he sees how much is being offered.
8. Bart's prank on the town of Springfield backfires in "Radio Bart". What present does Aunt Selma give Bart for his birthday?

Answer: A label maker

You will recall that Homer gives Bart the microphone, which Bart then uses to dupe the town as Timmy O'Toole, the boy stuck in the well. Martin gives Bart the jacket and beret, and the blackhead remover is something that appeared in another episode, when Bart was snooping in his aunts' closet.
9. In "Homer at the Bat", how does Homer win the game for the team at the end?

Answer: He gets hit by a pitch, forcing a run home

The ending of this episode is hilarious. The runner from third pushes the unconscious Homer out of the way and scores. Then the team carries him, still out cold, on their shoulders as they celebrate. Homer inexplicably substituted Darryl Strawberry - who could hit home-runs at will - by Mr. Burns, who felt that as a "rightee" Homer would be a better bet against a "rightee" pitcher.
10. Homer finds himself the manager of a budding country music star in "Colonel Homer". What song is Lurleen singing when Homer first lays eyes on her at the "Beer-n-Brawl"?

Answer: "Your Wife Don't Understand You, But I Do"

This episode is a parody of the rise of Elvis, among other things - Colonel Homer is a reference to Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis's manager. It also contains Bart's classic line to Lisa, when she covers her eys at a violent movie: "If you don't watch the violence, you'll never get desensitized to it."
