The Insecticons are Decepticons who evolved to match the insects around them when they crash-landed on Earth. They consisted of Bombshell (beetle), Kickback (grasshopper), and Shrapnel (lamellicorn). They did have the ability to make clones of themselves.

He was discovered in the ice by the Decepticons after he had crash-landed on Earth while on a scouting mission with Starscream when they were all still on Cybertron. Being himself a good Transormer, he soon changes sides when he sees what Megatron and the others are like.

They are found by Starscream on a remote Island he is in exile on, and with 5 renegade Decepticon personality chips he steals from Cybertron, he creates the Combaticons to be his army, in his quest to dethrone Megatron. They merge to become the formiddable Bruticus, who, after devastating Devastator, looks certain to achieve Starscream's aim if it weren't for Menasor, who launches a sneak-attack from behind.

Created by Primacron to destroy the Universe, he doesn't get very far, and has all but his head destroyed. However he is not completely dead, and makes a deal with Starscream to get his eyes back, then plans on making Cybertron his new body. He is responsible for converting Megatron into Galvatron, and creating Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps from other rejected Decepticons.

He often feels unworthy as leader though, as he is not the first choice to receive the 'Matrix of Leadership', it is originally meant to be Ultra Magnus. Originally Hot Rod, he becomes Rodimus Prime after he opens the Matrix.

Known for their five rotating faces, the Quintessons and their new servants the Sharkticons, continue to cause trouble for both Autobots and Decepticons alike.

Whereas Metroplex transforms into a humanoid robot, Trypicon becomes a giant dinosaur, and because of his inferior mobility and speed, Tryticon always loses. However the big advantage he has over Metroplex is that he, unlike the latter, can fly, so he can do all the damage he likes on other planets, and all Metroplex can do is shake his fist, stuck back on Earth.
