Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the good (Light Side) swoop gang that helps you out on Taris?

Answer: The Hidden Beks

The first planet you visit in "Knights of the Old Republic" is Taris. You're ultimate objective is to rescue Bastilla and escape the Sith occupied world. The way end up rescuing Bastilla is by winning her in a swoop competition between swoop gangs. The Black Vulkars were vicious, young criminals, and were taking over much of the lower city.

The Hidden Beks were the slightly more responsible and older gang, and offered to sponsor you in the swoop race, and allow you to have the grand prize (Bastilla) if you won, provided you helped them first. To get the them to sponsor you, hou had to infiltrate the Black Vulkars' base and steal back the prototype swoop accelerator that they had stolen from the Hidden Beks originally. Your other option is to join and race for the Black Vulkars, and help kill Gadon Thek, the leader of the Hidden Beks. If you do this, you will gain Dark Side points.
2. On a few worlds in "Knights of the Old Republic" you can race swoops. Which of the following worlds does not have a swoop track?

Answer: Dantooine

Swoop racing is a little different in "Knights of the Old Republic". Each racer races alone, and tries to get the best time he/she can. Taris, Tatooine, and Manaan all have swoop tracks of varying lengths, and with different obstacle placement. The aspects are all the same, though: shift gears at the right time, hit as many accelerator pads as possible, and avoid all obstacles that'll slow you down.
3. Which character joins your party on Kashyyyk?

Answer: Jolee Bindo

Most characters join your party on Taris, but a few join after you escape the planet. Jolee Bindo, an old Jedi hermit, joins you on Kashyyyk. HK-47 can be bought on Tatooine, and Juhani joins your party on Dantooine. You have to be careful if you want Juhani. If you don't say the right things when you first meet her, you may end up making her fight to the death, and you'll never get her in your party.
4. On which planet do the Republic and Sith coexist peacefully?

Answer: Manaan

Manaan has gone to great lengths to preserve its neutrality in the war. The Selkath sell it to both the Republic and Sith, so both the Republic and Sith both have embassies on Manaan. Manaan is the only planet on which Kolto, a miracle medicine, is produced. If either faction were to attack Manaan, the Selkath would deny it Kolto.

The attacking group would then probably destroy Manaan's Kolto production capabilities, but this is undesirable. Instead, both sides seem to try to provoke a fight (which the Sith seem to be very good at).
5. On Dantooine, you can find your first starmap, but only after you've answered two questions. From a list of six planetary types, you have to identify three life-giving seed worlds, and three death-giving seed worlds. Which of the following is not a life-giving world?

Answer: Desert

The three life giving worlds are Oceanic, Aboreal, and Grassland, while the three death giving worlds are Desert, Barren, and Volcanic. Once you have answered the two questions correctly, the third door will open in the ruins, and you will be granted access to the first starmap.

There is one example of each of these worlds in the game, minus volcanic. Kashyyyk is arboreal, Manaan is oceanic, Dantooine is grassland, Tatooine is desert, and Korriban is barren. There was originally going to be a volcanic world, but it was cut due to time constraints.
6. On every world you can find someone who is up for a little gambling. What is the name of the simple card game many people like to play in "Knights of the Old Republic"?

Answer: Pazzak

Pazzak is a simple card game similar to blackjack. Cards are turned up one at a time, alternating between players. The cards have numerical values on them, and the objective is to get as close to 20 without exceeding it. You also get four cards from your personalized side deck that you can play after you've drawn a card. These cards can be positive or negative values. The person who wins three rounds wins the game, and the credits.

Sabacc is another card game in the "Star Wars" universe that's closer to poker. It's mentioned frequently in the Expanded Universe (games/books/comics). It was in a game of Sabacc that Han Solo won the Millennium Falcon, and that Lando Calrissian won Cloud City.

Slave Trading is not a card game, and you cannot partake in it in "Knights of the Old Republic", though slaves do exist in the form of Wookiees on Kashyyyk.

Swoop racing is also not a card game, but rather a sport that many people bet on (although you cannot).
7. What is the name of the species native to Manaan?

Answer: Selkath

Manaan is an oceanic world with a single, massive floating city. It's inhabitants, the Selkath, are amphibious bipeds who are obsessed with keeping the peace in their city. Some were in league with the Republic in constructing an underwater research station to attempt to synthesize Kolto, the miracle medicine that rivals Bacta in its ability to heal almost any wound or disease.
8. What do you use to lure the Krayt Dragon out of its cave on Tatooine?

Answer: Banthas

In order to get the Krayt Dragon out of it's cave, you need to bring it something worth coming out for (Banthas). In order to get the Banthas, you need to get something that smells good to Banthas (Bantha Fodder). When you place the Bantha fodder, the Banthas will come, but so will Sand People (they view Banthas as sacred animals). You'll have to fight off the Sand People, lure the Banthas to the mouth of the cave, and then get the Krayt Dragon to walk along the minefield in order to kill it. After that, the Starmap at the end of the cave is yours.
9. On many planets you visit, you can find the Czerka corporation. Which one can you not?

Answer: Dantooine

The Czerka Corporation (pronounced "Zer-kah") is a galazy-wide corporation that deals in many commodities. On Kashyyyk they run a slaving operation, and on Tatooine, a mining operation, though Tatooine, as it turns out, has poor resources. They can also been found on Korriban, as the owners of its single spaceport.

They help supply the Sith academy there. Czerka seems to have abandoned morals for money, though not all its employees are twisted and greedy.
10. Which war preceded the current Sith war?

Answer: Mandolorian War

During the loading screens and other parts of the game, there are many references to the Mandolorian War, which ended 2.5 years before the current events. It was during the Mandolorian War that Revan and Malak defied the Jedi Council and aided in the Republic's efforts. They became heroes, and were hailed as such, until after the war, when they fell to the Dark Side. When they attacked with their massive Sith fleet, they became the most feared enemy of the Republic.

There are many Mandolorians in "Knights of the Old Republic", many of them mercenaries and enemies that you can fight for experience, credits, and items.

The Clone Wars was the war between the Old Republic and the Separatists, which was depicted in the prequel movie trilogy. The Galactic Civil War was the war between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, depicted in the original movie trilogy. The Yuuzhan Vong War was a war that took place 25 years after the Galactic Civil War between the New Republic and the invading Yuuzhan Vong, who came from beyond the galaxy.
