Like Madoka, Iroha Tamaki wears pink, is a friendly optimist, and is an archer. She came to Kamihama to look for her little sister Ui, who is ill, and she became a magical girl to cure Ui's illness. She becomes the leader of the main quintet, and has the power to heal both herself and others.

Yachiyo is a veteran magical girl who isolates herself from others due to believing that her wish to 'survive' is causing other magical girls to die. Felicia is a hothead with a hammer who kills witches for money, and believes that a witch killed her parents, though it was actually her own fault. Tsuruno has luck-based powers, fights with a pair of flaming fans and comes from a family who own a dodgy Chinese restaurant. The fifth member of the group, Sana Futaba, is a shy little girl who can turn invisible, and owns a shield which houses torture instruments.

Answer: Doppels

Magical girls can voluntarily summon or change into Doppels - for instance, Yachiyo's body visibly distorts when she turns into her Doppel, Campanella, with her arms becoming its legs and one of her legs becoming a tail covered in eyes. Like witches, Doppels are a manifestation of a magical girl's despair, but a magical girl with sufficient control over her despair can invoke her Doppel in battle, instead of turning into a witch.

They also represent a magical girl's feelings or hidden desires. They can be unlocked by completing side quests, upgrading or ascending your magical girls to five stars, and gathering materials which raise their Magia (special attacks, like Noble Phantasms in 'Fate/Grand Order') to five stars.

The Homura who initially appears in 'Magia Record' is closer to Homura as she originally was than the experienced and ruthless fighter that she became; she wears glasses and has her hair in plaits, and her art shows her wielding a golf club. She was initially a free character given to players as a pre-registration bonus, but later became a rare and expensive four-star magical girl who could also be obtained by playing certain events.

She was also initially capped at four stars, although could later be upgraded to five.

Answer: A game with a virtual vending machine mechanic

A gachapon, gacha for short, is a vending machine which gives out little toys in plastic capsules. 'Gachapon' is an onomatopoeic word; 'gacha' represents the sound of a handle being turned, and 'pon' represents the sound of a toy capsule landing in a tray.

The principle in gacha games is similar; a character is obtained by a kind of virtual vending machine which acts like a slot machine (and sometimes you have to 'spin' the machine several times to get the character or item you want), and can initially be bought with in-game currency (in 'Magia Record', it's Magia Stones), but players must eventually start using their money to purchase in-game currency.

Many Japanese mobile phone games use the gacha mechanic, and it has been criticised for encouraging players to spend ridiculous amounts of money.

The more rare a 'Magia Record' character is, the more expensive she is; rareness is indicated by a number of stars, with one star being the most common and four being the rarest. Some characters or items can also only be obtained within a limited time frame.

Answer: Mami Tomoe

Holy Mami was an alternative version of Mami Tomoe who debuted in the Christmas 2017 event, 'The Crescent Moon Manor's Merry Christmas', and later appeared in the main story. She is a messianic figure who helps other magical girls (although she attacks magical girls she sees as enemies), wears a crown and a white dress, and is a White Feather, a middle-ranking member of the Wings of Magius.

She joined after learning the truth about witches and magical girls - that magical girls will eventually turn into witches - and uses Candeloro, her Doppel, to suppress any subconscious desires she might have to leave the Wings of Magius.

The other members of the original cast come to Kamihama to look for her.

Answer: Rumours

Rumours are monsters which embody actual rumours floating around Kamihama City. Unlike witches, they do not drop Grief Seeds when defeated. They target people who help to perpetuate the rumours or fulfil the rumour's conditions: for example, Rena Minami is attacked by the Rumour of the Breakup Staircase when she threatens to break friends with another girl.

The best way to counter what each Rumour does is by doing the opposite of what it represents (such as mending a friendship, in the above case).

Some characters, such as Mami Tomoe and Tsuruno Yui, temporarily fuse with Rumours which take over their bodies and change their forms and/or outfits. Each Rumour's profile begins with "My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from?"

Answer: Void

Mitama Yakumo is the shopkeeper who appears whenever you spin the gacha, and a veteran magical girl who rarely fights, though she can be used as support. She runs a business where she strengthens a magical girl's power in return for Grief Seeds (the corrupted Soul Gems left behind by dead witches), earning her the nickname of 'the Adjuster'. She was originally an NPC, but later joined the roster along with the Void element.

Flame, Aqua and Forest have a rock-paper-scissors effect. Light and Dark get damage bonuses against each other (so if you're doing a daily quest which has the Dark symbol next to it, indicating the enemy is a Dark magical girl, you need a Light magical girl). Out of the original cast, Madoka is Light, Sayaka is Aqua, Kyouko is Flame, Mami is Forest and Homura is Dark (although the summer version of her is Light). Aqua magical girls tend to have blue clothes and hair, while Flame magical girls are often coloured orange, red or yellow, and Forest magical girls tend to be brown, orange or green.

Answer: Memoria

Like the Craft Essences in 'Fate/Grand Order', Memoria are cards which can be bought or obtained from the gacha, and give certain skills to certain characters. Each character, like the 'Fate' servants, has her own Memoria, representing a particular memory.

For example, Kyouko Sakura's personal Memoria, 'Mundane Things', depicts her favourite foods, such as apples and Pocky. Only one copy of each Memoria can be equipped for a magical girl, and up to 4 Memoriae can be equipped. Getting duplicates of a magical girl from the gacha gives you extra Memoria slots.

There are two types: Ability Memoriae provide bonus effects which are constantly active, and Skill Memoriae are temporary.

Answer: Akuma Madoka

'Akuma Madoka' is a reference to 'Akuma Homura', the demonic form Homura Akemi took in 'Puella Magi Madoka Magica Rebellion'. Haregi Madoka is a version of Madoka which was released on New Year's Day 2018, who wears a kimono and wields a haregi bat shaped like Kyubey (haregi is a Japanese game similar to badminton). Madoka-senpai is a cartoonish parody version of Madoka from 'Magia Report', a webcomic accompanying the game, and is the 'Magia Record' equivalent of Gudako from 'Fate/Grand Order: Learning with Manga'; she even has a Magia named 'Madokalibur' as a shout-out to Artoria Pendragon's Excalibur Noble Phantasm. Ultimate Madoka is the goddess version of Madoka, also known as the Law of Cycles, who represents the salvation of magical girls.

She was released during the first anniversary event.

'Monogatari' is a series of light novels by Nisio Isin about Koyomi, a teenage boy who encounters various girls with supernatural powers and associations. The anime, like the 'Madoka' series, is directed by SHAFT. Hitagi Senjougahara is an antisocial girl who manipulates gravity and weighs nothing, as her weight was stolen by a giant crab. Nadeko Sengoku is a shy girl who is being strangled by invisible snakes, and uses landmines. Mayoi Hachikuji is a ghost of a girl who was killed by a car, and is constantly trying to get home. Tsubasa Hanekawa is the class representative and is possessed by a bakeneko, a demonic cat which turns her hair white. Suruga Kanbaru is a basketball player with a cursed monkey's paw growing on her arm. Shinobu Oshino, the final 'Monogatari' character to join the roster, is a vampire.

Each girl is associated with a different animal: Hitagi with crabs, Nadeko with snakes, Mayoi with snails, Tsubasa with cats, Suruga with monkeys, and Shinobu with bats. Unlike the Doppels of the other magical girls, the names of the 'Monogatari' characters' Doppels are written in kanji instead of witch runes.
