Papa Louie's Gamerias Trivia Quiz

Flipline Studios was created by Matt Neff and Tony Solary both from Cleveland, Ohio. They make flash games that can be played online. Some of their games have later made their transition to the iPad and iPhone. One of the first games they created was "Papa Louie: When Pizzas Attack!" in 2006. This was an arcade type of game, where the main character Papa Louie had to fight off various type of monsters to save some of his customers.

In 2007 the first of Flipline's cooking games, also known as Gamerias, was created. It was called "Papa's Pizzeria". In this game we once again meet Papa Louie, the owner of a pizzeria in the town of Tastyville. This time the game focuses on preparing pizza orders for the various customers. The player will first have to take the order, put the right toppings on the pizza, bake it and then cut in the right way before delivering it to the customer. The player will score points according to how accurate the various steps were performed. Main character of the game is Roy, who one day wakes up and finds that Papa Louie is gone and left him to run the pizzeria. Other games in the series have included "Papa's Burgeria", "Papa's Wingeria" and "Papa's Freezeria".

Not all customers in the Papa Louie games are based on real life people. Most of them are created by Matt and Tony, the owners of Flipline Studios. Notable exceptions are Matt and Tony themselves. Tony also created his wife Mandi as a customer in the gamerias. Other characters who are based on real life people include Doan, Georgito and Johnny.

Mandi made her first appearance in the Gameria series in "Papa's Pizzeria". She appears in that game with long, brown hair. Later she appears with shorter hair, possibly due to changes she made in real life to her appearance. It was never confirmed however by Matt or Tony. In "Papa's Wingeria" Mandi was chosen to be one of the chefs appearing in that game, alongside with Chuck.

Answer: Prudence and Cooper

The fifth Gameria in the series is "Papa's Pancakeria". It featured the chefs Prudence and Cooper. In the intro story either Prudence or Cooper goes to get pizza. Prudence has a dog named Pickle, while Cooper has a cat called Cookie. Either the dog or cat escapes from the car. Later the animal is found back in a town called Maple Mountain at a pancakeria. The animal loves it so much there, the owner is forced to work as a chef, making pancakes, toast and waffles in this town.

The game "Papa's Pancakeria" has the same basic premise as the other games. You start by taking an order, from which you move on to the cooking stage. You will have to select the correct number of pancakes, toast or waffles and cook them on the griddle (sometimes with extra ingredients mixed in). You then apply the correct toppings and serve the order to the customer. In later levels you will also be preparing drinks with the order.

Answer: Scooter

In "Papa's Wingeria" the player will have to make various wings, as suggested by the title. You start with choosing the meat, either wings, boneless wings, chicken strips or shrimps. A customer will then choose the sauces, the dips and the sides. If all is prepared well, the order will have to be arranged in the correct way on the platter.

The chefs for this game that you can play with are Mandi and Chuck. In the opening sequence either Chuck or Mandi wins a trip to Starlight City. The prize turns out to be working as a chef at the wingeria. The new customers in this game are Scooter, Skyler, Boomer, Xolo and Professor Fitz. Scooter is a girl wearing a green cap and carrying her skateboard around everywhere.

Answer: Papa's Taco Mia

"Papa's Taco Mia" is a game where the player makes tacos. It is located in the city of Tacoville. The chefs for this game are Mitch and Maggie. The game has only three stations: the order station, the grill station and the build station. Another game to have only three stations is "Papa's Burgeria".

Most other games have four stations. The order station is the station where the player starts. Depending on the type of food different stations appear. This can also include drink stations, like in "Papa's Pancakeria". Mostly the build station is the last one in the game.

Various of the gameria have minigames. They are very diverse and often related to the game. Some are shooting games (like "Cool Shot" and "Breakfast Blast") requiring precise shots, others include looking for hidden objects ("Mitch's Mess) or remembering the order of the customers ("Customers Cravings"). By playing a round of the game you earn tickets to play the minigames.

The minigames are introduced by Foodini. He was first introduced in "Papa's Pancakeria". He is a game host that travels to all the various restaurants to let people play his games. He also appears as a customer in the games, mostly being one of the last customers to be unlocked.

Answer: Nevada

The parents of Utah and Nevada must have had the American states in mind, when choosing names for their daughters. Utah first appears in "Papa's Freezeria". This game is located on Calypso Island. Utah works there as a tour guide. Her older sister Nevada made her debut in "Papa's Cupcakeria". Both sisters apparently live together in a bungalow.

There are more characters with relations in the various games. Mindy is a hairstylist for instance working with her mother Vicky. Both appear in the games. Clover and Marty are brother and sister, playing together in a band. There is also the Romano Family quartet, a music combo consisting of four members of the Romano Family: Gino, Carlo, Bruna and Little Edoardo.

"Papa's Cupcakeria" is located in the city of Frostfield. Mayor Mallow has approved the new restaurant in his town. The chefs for this game are James and Willow. They get into an accident with Papa Louie and Roy. In order to pay off the debt, they work at the restaurant. Each customer orders two cupcakes, with various toppings.

The new development in the game is the introduction of different seasons. There are a few common ingredients, for each season specific ingredients are added. In previous games new ingredients would unlock when the player got further into the game. The seasons include holidays like Christmas, Easter or Halloween, but also events like the Baseball Season or the Starlight Jubilee.

The character Timm was first introduced in "Papa Louie: When Pizzas Attack!". He has since featured in all the games in the Gameria series. On his Flipdeck he is described as a lawyer who quit his law firm to take up professional dancing to pursue his lifelong dream. His former associate Quinn also appears in the games. She now runs the law firm by herself.

Cletus is a character that runs a scrapyard, as often seen on advertisements appearing near the restaurants in the game. Johnny is a lumberjack working in the city of Maple Mountain (where the game "Papa's Pancakeria takes place). Hank also comes from Maple Mountain, where he works as a highway patrol officer.

In 2011 the first online contest to select the new chefs for a Gameria game was held. It selected the chefs for "Papa's Pancakeria", Prudence and Cooper. Contestants are placed in different divisions, competing for a place in the final. The men and women compete separately, so each game has a male and a female chef to choose from.

In 2013 the chefs were chosen for "Papa's Cupcakeria". Eventual winners were James and Willow. On the female side Utah was the losing finalist, while Tohru and Scooter lost in the semi-finals. Zoe competed in the Dr. Cherry Division (named after a drink that appears in some of the Gameria games). She lost to Scooter in the first round. According to her Flipdeck, she is a traveling musician who lives in the city of Tacodale (where "Papa's Taco Mia" takes place). She would like to own her own coffee shop some day, where people from various arts could come together.
