Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the central question of the game?

Answer: What can change the nature of a man?

The choices you make while adventuring answer this question; among other things, your "alignment" can change to good or evil. For RPG fans, you may remember the wrong answers as properly belonging to the "Baldur's Gate" series and "Icewind Dale".
2. Who is the first NPC who can join your adventuring party, in the mortuary?

Answer: Morte

Morte the floating skull: "I'm Morte. Like Latin...for Death." If you've only played this game casually and haven't explored all its options, make sure to try exposing Morte to as many insults from other characters as you can.
3. The voice acting in "Planescape: Torment" is superb; a few somewhat famous names are featured in its cast, such as Sheena Easton and Keith David. Which joinable character (hint: probably the hardest to find) is played by Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson?

Answer: Nordom

Trias is voiced by John de Lancie, The Transcendent One by Tony Jay, and Dak'kon by Mitch Pileggi. Annah-of-the-Shadows, not mentioned in the question, is played by Sheena Easton.
4. To get Fall-from-Grace to join your party, you have to speak to all ten of her students (including yourself). Which of them is a child of Ravel Puzzlewell, the night hag who made you immortal?

Answer: Kesai-Serris

"Students" at the Brothel of Slating Intellectual Lusts. Your conversation with each one starts a different quest.
5. For an RPG, what is unusual about the gameplay in terms of the main character, The Nameless One?

Answer: To complete certain quests, he has to die.

If you are still within Sigil, the city where you begin, it's also the fastest way to get back to the Hive area that surrounds the mortuary where he wakes up each time he dies. As the Nameless One says, "I wonder what it was I said that made Death reject me."
6. Another unusual thing about the Nameless One and some of the other NPCs in your party: on the inventory screen, in addition to the usual weapons, shields, helmets, etc., with which of the following objects can you "dress" them?

Answer: Tattoos

You can also "upgrade" one of Nameless One's eyes and some of his internal organs (although the latter takes place through dialog options). Not upgradeable are the tattoos on his back, where he has written clues about his personal history during his previous incarnations.
7. What is the name of the The Nameless One's lover/girlfriend from his previous incarnation, whose ghost reappears from time to time and figures largely in the plot?

Answer: Deionarra

As it turns out, The Nameless One himself was responsible for her death. Whether or not he cares about that depends on "the nature of a man" you choose for him as you role-play him. Incidentally, Deianira was Heracles' second wife in Greek myth.
8. A question not about gameplay: in what year was "Planescape: Torment" released?

Answer: 1999

Even so, it remains eminently re-playable. Various sites have fan-made widescreen mods available for download to enhance its playability on more modern systems.
9. When you face the final enemy, the Transcendent One (who is your own mortality separated from your body), which of these is *not* an option?

Answer: Run away

But only merging with him will save the "friends" you've been traveling with all this time. The final movie that plays also depends on which choice you make.
10. In the special edition of "Baldur's Gate 2", where is the merchant (who you can also download and patch into the regular game) who sells you items from "Planescape: Torment"?

Answer: In the Adventurer's Mart in Waukeen's Promenade

Among them is Dak'kon's Zerth Blade, the most powerful weapon in "Planescape: Torment" by the time you're done playing. The bonus merchant in the Copper Coronet sells you items from "Icewind Dale".
