Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the primary protagonist of the "God of War" series for the Playstation 2 and 3?

Answer: Kratos

Kratos is a spartan warrior and demi-god who is often seen as something of an anti-hero. He was tricked into killing his wife and daughter by Ares, and has sworn himself to vengeance, with each game forming a chapter in his revenge tale. He also popped up as a downloadable character in "Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds".
2. The "Legend of Zelda" series uses a currency based on differently coloured rupees. From least to most valuable, which of the answers represents the correct order of rupees in "Link to the Past", "Ocarina of Time", "Skyward Sword", and "Twilight Princess"?

Answer: Green, Blue, Red

In the "Zelda" games (except for the "Oracle of Ages" and "Oracle of Seasons"), green rupees are worth 1, blue are worth 5 and red are worth 20. Bizarrely, blue rupees are worth 10 in the "Oracle" games, and red are worth 5. Not confusing at all, Nintendo!
3. "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" was a popular game for the Playstation 3 featuring Nathan Drake in his search for which lost treasure?

Answer: El Dorado

In the game, Drake (who is the descendant of famed explorer Sir Francis Drake) attempts to track down what he at first believes to be a city but later discovers is a large golden statue. He is aided in his quest by mentor Victor Sully and love interest Elena Fisher, both of whom returned for the game's sequels.
4. Mario fights against King Bowser, but what's the profession of Sonic's arch-enemy Robotnik (Eggman)?

Answer: Doctor

Sonic's enemy is known as both Dr. Robotnik and Dr. Eggman. The development team wanted a character who acted as the opposite of Sonic - someone who represented machinery, and development.
5. Squaresoft made a brilliant action-adventure role-playing game (RPG) for the SNES which allowed 2 players to fight monsters simultaneously (or even 3, using a multi-tap). Fill in the middle word in the title, "Secret of _______"?

Answer: Mana

While Squaresoft also made "Secret of Evermore", it's only a one-player game. "Secret of Mana" is part of the "golden era" of SNES RPGs that also includes titles such as "Chrono Trigger", "Illusion of Time" and "Super Mario RPG"!
6. Which game engine was used by RARE Ltd. as the basis for the game "Perfect Dark" on the Nintendo 64?

Answer: "Goldeneye 007"

"Goldeneye 007" is the most popular film adaptation in video games ever made, and was a flagship title in the Nintendo 64 line-up, going some way to dispel Nintendo's image as a kids only franchise. "Perfect Dark" was another hit for RARE, building on the same engine, but with a completely different setting and cast.
7. Which of these characters did not appear in "Street Fighter II"?

Answer: Heihachi

Ryu is a Japanese martial artist seeking to become a "true warrior", Ken is his former training partner, from the United States, and Chun-Li is a female chinese martial artist. All took part in "Street Fighter II".

Heihachi acts in many Tekken games as the host of the Iron Fist tournaments, but did not participate in "Street Fighter II". However, he got the chance to fight against many of the "Street Fighter" characters in the later crossover game, "Street Fighter X Tekken".
8. Which of these is not the name of a vehicle in the "Halo" series for the Xbox and Xbox 360?

Answer: Penguin

The Mongoose is a handy little two-seater vehicle, the Warthog is a more heavily armoured jeep (with turret) and the Pelican is an aerial dropship. There's a huge number of other vehicles in the UNSC arsenal, but the Penguin is yet to show up!
9. "Mirror's Edge", for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, was arguably the first video game based around the free-running sport Parkour. What is the name of the (often leaping) protagonist of the game?

Answer: Faith

The protagonist of "Mirror's Edge", known for the distinctive tattoo around her right eye, is named Faith Conners. Her name doubtless comes from the popular expression "Leap of Faith". "Mirror's Edge" has built up a loyal following due to its original and innovative gameplay and beautiful aesthetics.
10. The innovative "Left 4 Dead" series by Valve, on the Xbox 360, has many fans on internet console service Xbox Live. How many players work together as a team in the first title and its follow-up?

Answer: Four

"Left 4 Dead" is amongst the most popular of the wave of zombie games which were launched from around 2005 and that includes "Dead Rising", "Dead Island" and "The Last Of Us". As implied by the name, you work in a team of four, who need to use teamwork and communication in order to safely journey between various safe rooms and eventually make their escape from the infected area.
