Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first four "Space Quest" games were created by Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy, otherwise known as "The 2 Guys From Andromeda." "Space Quest 5" was created by one guy from Andromeda. "Space Quest 6" was created in part by the other guy from Andromeda.

Answer: True

The team of Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy split up after "Space Quest 4." Mark Crowe created "Space Quest 5" without Scott Murphy. Scott Murphy created "Space Quest 6" without Mark Crowe.
2. Much of this game was created by Josh Mandel, who is no stranger to adventure games. In addition to co-creating "Space Quest 6," Josh Mandel was the voice of what popular adventure game character?

Answer: King Graham, from the "King's Quest" series

Josh Mandel does the voice of King Graham in "King's Quest 5", "King's Quest 6," and AGD Interactive's remake of the first three games in that series. He also voices the giant pig that runs the Monolith Burger in "Space Quest 4."
3. What voice actor makes a return in this game?

Answer: Gary Owens

Gary Owens returns as the narrator after being absent from "Space Quest 5." Strangely, Roger is portrayed by a different voice actor in "Space Quest 6" than in "Space Quest 4." Stuart Moulder and Kelli Spurgeon voiced Roger Jr. and Zondra, one of the Latex Babes of Estros. Neither appear in this game.
4. In the introduction, Roger is convicted of many crimes and as a result is stripped of his captaincy. What is one of the crimes?

Answer: Consorting with a female of higher rank

Roger is convicted of many ridiculous crimes, yet not even charged with blowing up the space bar or the Eureka. In fact, the game says that he somehow successfully returned the Eureka, even though he blew it up! It seems Scott Murphy did not play "Space Quest 5" enough.
5. In what strange predicament does Roger start this game?

Answer: He is embedded in the street

After a transporter malfunction, Roger is embedded in a street in Polysorbate LX. He has to grab the legs of a robot that just happens to be walking by, so that this robot can pull Roger out of this situation.
6. The android wants to kill Roger because he did not pay for the whistle in "Space Quest 2."

Answer: False

The android in this game is just a killer android. He's dangerous to everyone, not just people who commit mail fraud. However, the android has a voice like Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Android in "Space Quest 3" has a name similar to Arnold. Also, both this android and that android use their own two hands to mess with Roger's body if Roger does not heed their warnings and/or fails to defeat them. Lastly, the android is the only thing that can kill you on the main part of Polysorbate (excluding the thugs' home). Even though other characters on that planet warn you that they can kill you, they don't.

This game has very few ways to die for an adventure game. But that does not make it easy.
7. Two characters from which previous game make an appearance on Polysorbate LX?

Answer: Space Quest 3

Fester Blatz and Elmo Pug from "Space Quest 3" appear in this game. Fester is an alien salesman, formerly on the planet of Phleebhut and now on Polysorbate. He plays more or less the same role in both games: a salesman who has an item that Roger needs.

This time around though, Roger can't do anything at his store during his first visit to the planet. Elmo Pug was the main villain in "Space Quest 3." When Roger defeated him, he became a laughingstock and was forced out of ScumSoft. Now, instead of being a 14-year-old boss of an evil company, he's an adult who's a pathetic drunk.

He's no longer evil though. In fact, Roger needs his help to win the game.
8. What unusual method does Roger use to defeat the thugs?

Answer: Dancing

Roger finds a poster that looks like the "Space Quest" equivalent of Elvis. He takes it off the wall, puts it on the floor, and dances like Elvis to generate static electricity. Electrically charged, he touches one of the thugs, and his electricity reacts with an electric chip in one of the thugs' bodies, and the thug is shocked to death (or at least unconsciousness).

Then, he goes into the next room, finds two moddies, peels the label off one of them and puts it on the other one, and gives it to the other thug, tricking that thug into dancing away and letting Roger free.
9. Who saves Roger?

Answer: Stellar

Stellar saves Roger because she has a crush on him. This could create a potential love triangle, with two ladies interested in Roger and Roger likes both of them. Of course we know from "Space Quest 4" that eventually Roger chooses Beatrice, who sadly does not appear in this game.
10. In his room, Roger has a lot of items from previous games and "future" games ("Space Quest 10" and "Space Quest 12"). However, he does not have items from all the games. From what game does Roger have no items?

Answer: Space Quest 5

From "Space Quest 1," Roger has the translator, the Star Generator remote control, and the Golden Mop that he got at the end of the game for saving the planet. From "Space Quest 2," Roger has the whistle. From "Space Quest 3" he has a rejection letter from Ken Williams that he got when he applied for a job there after rescuing the two guys from Andromeda and taking them to the Sierra headquarters on Earth.

However, he has nothing from "Space Quest 5." It seems Scott Murphy wanted to pretend that "Space Quest 5" never happened. Clearly he was not happy with the work of his former companion Mark Crowe.
11. When Roger tries to help out an old lady, what does she do?

Answer: Try to get Roger unconscious

This old lady was near death, so she wanted to transfer her consciousness into a younger body so she could live many more years. She chose Roger because she figured no one would miss him. Her plan was to get him to do some chores for him, then while he was looking for her meds she filled the room with a non-lethal gas that does not kill the inhalant, it just knocks him or her unconsciousness. Then, with the help of a doctor who was in love with her, she was going to transfer her consciousness into Roger's body. Thankfully, Stellar comes to the rescue once again and takes Roger's place.

The old lady did not try to kill Roger. While inhaling too much gas does trigger a game over, Roger does not die. It's implied that what happens is Roger becomes unconscious and then the old lady takes over his body and by the time Stellar finds out it's too late. So Roger becomes an old lady disguised as Roger, and that's not what we want. The game wants Roger to continue on as Roger.
12. When Magnum Opus eats the drugged donut, he morphs into a lot of different things. One of those things is Elton John playing "Girl in the Tower," the theme song from which game?

Answer: King's Quest 6

"Girl in the Tower" was a song written by Mark Seibert as a love song between Alexander and Cassima. It is strange that this is not the "King's Quest 2" theme song. Wasn't Valanice the original "Girl in the Tower?"
13. Who lends an arm and an eye to Roger?

Answer: Circuit Sydney

At the cafeteria, Roger asks Circuit Sydney to lend an arm and an eye. Circuit Sydney reluctantly obliges, asking Roger to give them back when he's done. Sadly, Roger never does.
14. The shuttle that becomes Roger's ship in this game has plenty of garbage in it. Roger was supposed to clean the garbage, but he never did. Roger can clean the shuttle but what price will he have to pay to get the shuttle clean?

Answer: His life

If Roger opens the airlock while in space without wearing his EVA suit, he will float away. That good news is, all the garbage in the ship will also float away. The bad news is, Roger will be dead. This is one of my favorite deaths in any adventure game. The game does not let you clean the garbage off of the ship unless you do this.
15. Roger already has two ladies who like him. Then a third lady comes along and speaks flirtatiously with Roger. What does this lady help Roger with?

Answer: She jump-starts his shuttle

Roger's shuttle gets stalled because a fish gets stuck in a key part of the ship. Roget hangs a help sign on his shuttle and waits a long time for someone to stop for him. That someone turns out to be a flirtatious lady who seems to be romantically interested in Roger, but it's hard to tell for sure.
16. When Roger reaches the CyberSpace office, it seems he must take a number and wait for it. What does Roger do about this?

Answer: Uses a screwdriver to change the number in the system

The numbering system is intentionally designed so that you'll never get your number called. They really don't want anyone messing with their files. To get around this, Roger uses a screwdriver that he finds outside the office to change the number in the system.
17. Roger learns of many bad things in Stellar's body. Some of those are things she ate. Others are guards that were planted there. To get rid of the guards in her stomach, Roger climb up to her throat and tickles it with a feather. This is similar to something done in what other game?

Answer: King's Quest 4

Roger climbing into Stellar's throat and tickling it with a feather is similar to Rosella climbing the whale's tongue and tickling its uvula with a feather. In that game, Rosella does that to get out of the whale's body and onto the island with the bridle for the unicorn.

In that game, Roger does that to get force down a twinkie and a pill that had been stuck in her throat, and in the process make her stomach acids rise and kill the nanites. Another difference is in "King's Quest 4," you could enter the whale without the feather and the game would be unwinnable. Fortunately, Stellar was kind enough to eat a feather so we don't have to worry about that.
18. Roger walks around inside Stellar's body wearing his UVA suit. He also brings his helmet, but he doesn't wear it. What does he do with his helmet?

Answer: Carries bodily liquids to help break down the bill.

Roger uses his helmet to collect bile from Stellar's gall bladder. Then he uses alveoli to clear up some blockage in the tube that leads to the pancreas. Then he uses his helmet to collect liquid from Stellar's pancreas to break down a pill in her stomach.
19. The pill is used to tame what in Stellar's body?

Answer: A tapeworm

Roger must ride the tapeworm to get deeper in Stellar's stomach. But before he can do that, he must feed the broken-down pill to the tapeworm or it will eat him. I love the music the game plays while Roger's riding the worm.
20. What element does Roger find in Stellar's body that he needs to fill the fuel tank?

Answer: Silver

Roger's ship is powered by four unusual elements: each of the four possible answers to this question. This is shown on the ship in the screen as "LaSAgNe." It's the 3rd tank that runs out of fuel. That's the one that runs on "Ag," which is silver. Thankfully, Stellar eats silver. Her strange diet saved her life. Roger would've been stuck and unable to save her if she didn't eat silver.
21. Once Roger travels to Stellar's brain, what's the first thing he must do?

Answer: Cut a hole in her meninges

One would think this is not good for her. Then again her brain couldn't have been working too well before considering the things she liked to eat.
22. What center of Stellar's body must Roger activate to get to Sharpei?

Answer: Cough center

Roger must activate Stellar's cough center to remove the blockage in a pathway to Sharpei. The cough center is the only center the game allows you to activate
23. What happens if you activate Stellar's "choice of men" center?

Answer: You can't activate her "choice of men" center

Even though the game shows you her "choice of men" center, you can't activate it. Unfortunately, the game doesn't have as many humorous messages about this is it could have.
24. What do you use to defeat Stellar?

Answer: Fish

The game keeps drawing attention to this fish. When Roger escapes the hired thugs who had stolen everything from him, they return his fish. When Roger leaves Commander Kielbasa's ship, the people return the fish that they had taken from him when they threw him in the brig.

The game makes a point that this disgusting rotting thing will be important eventually and now you're at the last puzzle in the game and you haven't used it yet, so from that you should figure to use it. Sharpei will say "Fish? That's brain food!" But the fish had been rotting so long that it turned out to be really bad brain food.
25. This was always intended to be the last game of the series.

Answer: False

Unlike "Quest For Glory: Dragon Fire," "Space Quest 6" was never intended to be the end of the series. This is made clear in the ending when Stellar tells Roger that he will enjoy his next adventure. Roger asks what it is, and Stella says "I'm sorry, but you're just going to have to wait." Then Gary Owens say a few words suggesting there may be a "Space Quest 7." Initial attempts to make "Space Quest 7" fell apart.
