"Space Quest I: The Sarien Encounter" Quiz

Answer: Janitor's closet

Wilco was sleeping in the janitor's closet of the space ship named the Arcada. When the alarm for general quarters sounded, he had to hurry off the ship before it exploded.

It was later found out that Wilco was a space janitor. He loved cleaning up any mess he found. Most of the time he found himself in a mess of his own but he always managed to save his planet from certain doom.

After Wilco escaped the destructing ship, he crash-landed on the planet Korona. It was a planet that sustained life, but was mostly desert. After emerging from the pod, he found a piece of glass which was used to burn out some destructive laser beams in an underground cavern.

Before he exited the pod, he grabbed the emergency kit which fell during the crash. Inside it, he found bottled water and a knife. He used the knife to pry open a vent on the Sarien vessel. He used the water to kill a pork beast.

As Wilco was exploring Korona and searching for a way off, he encountered a life form which was terrified of an animal called a pork beast. He found the beast in a cave and threw the water to it. Since the animal couldn't digest water, it exploded. Wilco also killed the beast by being chased by a spider droid.

The spider droid followed Wilco into a cave and collided with the beast. Spider droids exploded upon impact with anything live. Wilco took the piece back to the leader and was granted with a mode of transportation to a town of Ulence Flats.

He was on his way to destroy the Sarien ship and stop the Sariens from using the stolen Star Generator.

Answer: No

Each time Wilco walked over this tiny natural bridge, cracks started to form in it. After about the fourth or fifth time, the bridge just gave way. However, since it wasn't too far up, it didn't kill Wilco if he dumbly kept walking over it.

This part of the game is known as an "Easter egg". "Easter eggs" are items placed in computer games which are hidden and sometimes derived from movies, people, or things. After Wilco took a hovercraft into the city of Ulence Flats, he walked into a bar. Several times if Wilco walked into the bar, different things were on the stage. One of them was the duo of the Blues Brothers. Often when they were on the stage, the theme music for the Blues Brothers would be playing. "Blues Brothers" was a movie back in the 70s which starred Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi. Both men also starred in the earlier "Saturday Night Live" episodes.

When the game started off, Wilco had several buckazoids in his pocket (or inventory). Buckazoids were worth a dollar and could be used like regular dollars. The slot machine in the bar allowed up to 230 buckazoids before the thing would break. If Wilco spent some of the 230, the machine allowed Wilco to get more.

Wilco saw a way out of Korona. However, he needed to purchase a robot from Droids 'R Us in order to fly it. After all, he was a janitor; not a pilot. There were several robots in the store, however, only one was correct.

One other thing about the slot machine in the bar was the three skulls. If Wilco accidentally got three skulls in a row, the machine fired at him and he was vaporized. It was always good to save your game first before gambling with this machine!

If Wilco purchased a greenish looking ship with a drill at the bottom of it, it drilled its way into the ground. He survived that one, but if he chose the one with legs on it, it malfunctioned and sent him flying and crashing elsewhere; killing him. It was best that Wilco purchased the ship that looked newer and sleeker. Once purchased, the robot went to the back of it; ready to be loaded. Wilco then commanded it to take them to Section HH. This was where the Sarien ship was located.

Answer: Sariens

Wilco has to defend his planet against the alien group, the Sariens. The Sariens were the aliens which invaded and massacred the crew of the Arcada and stole the experimental Star Generator. This group was headed up by Sludge Vohaul who was out to destroy the planet Xenon.

The Sariens wore orangery with some black in the uniforms. In order to pass as one of them, Wilco had to change his disguise so he could sneak around the ship to try and destroy them.

As Wilco entered the ship, he made his way through a ventilation shaft. However, the shaft dumped him into the laundry room. Once the button was pushed, Wilco spun around and around in the washer. As he did, he changed into the Sariens uniform and found an ID card to use plus a pulsator.

This pulsator would come in handy after he tripped and lost his helmet! He completed his task and he and the robot escaped without injury.

Answer: Xenon

Wilco was from the planet Xenon. He is often sent to do missions which end up having to save his own planet. The other three on the list are from "Space Quest III: The Pirates of Pestulon".
