1. Rock of Ravatogh
Answer: Final Fantasy XV
The Rock of Ravatogh is found in the western part of Cleigne in "Final Fantasy XV" (PS4, XOne, PC, 2016-18) and houses a fairly straightforward dungeon. A Royal Tomb can be found at the top, as well as a Zu if the requisite hunt is accepted from Verinas Mart near the base of the volcano.
2. Eldin Volcano
Answer: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Eldin Volcano dominates Eldin Province in "The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword" (Wii, 2011) and is home to two fire-themed dungeons - the Earth Temple and the Fire Sanctuary. The intense heat of the volcano summit requires the protection afforded by the Fireshield Earrings, obtained by completing Din's Silent Realm.
3. Hailfire Peaks
Answer: Banjo-Tooie
Hailfire Peaks, from "Banjo-Tooie" (N64, 2000), is dominated by the twin volcanoes of ice and fire and their inhabitants, Chilly Willy and Chilli Billi. Banjo and Kazooie are transformed into a snowball in this world and also take part in the second kickball tournament.
4. Mount Maelstrom
Answer: Guild Wars 2
Found in "Guild Wars 2" (PC, 2012), Mount Maelstrom is home to an ongoing asura research project to investigate the volcano's power. Periodically, however, the volcano becomes active and spews forth destroyers that attack the asura lab and equipment. This culminates in an event to bring down the megadestroyer that emerges from the lava and stabilise the volcano core.
5. Grumble Volcano
Answer: Mario Kart Wii
Grumble Volcano finishes off the Star Cup in "Mario Kart Wii" (Wii, 2008), with racers driving inside the volcano as well as skirting around the outside. As the race goes on, more and more of the track will crumble away, leaving perilous drops into lava, and fiery debris and Fire Snakes will try their best to get in the way of racers.
6. Flame Core
Answer: Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic and Knuckles tackle the fiery dangers of Flame Core in "Sonic the Hedgehog" (PS3, 360, 2006/07). After navigating through lava, fiery rocks and enemies on the outside and crystalline caverns on the inside, they eventually reach the core and face a form of Iblis, the magmatic incarnation of the sun god Solaris' power.
7. Mount Hellsfont
Answer: Borderlands 2
Found in the Eridium Blight in "Borderlands 2" (PC, PS3, 360, 2012), Mount Hellsfont features a perilous climb up the volcano's face. Successfully running this gauntlet in the name of loot will give players access to a chest, plus a head customisation that drops from an enemy.
8. Mt. Chimney
Answer: Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald
The summit of Mt. Chimney in the Gen. III "Pokemon" games (GBA, 2002-05) is accessed by using the cable car east of Lavaridge Town. The rival team attempt to use the volcano to carry out their plans - Team Magma by activating the volcano and Team Aqua by quelling it. Once they are defeated, an old lady sells condition-curing Lava Cookies.
The ash given off by the volcano falls on Route 113 and can be collected and exchanged for goodies.
9. Corona Mountain
Answer: Super Mario Sunshine
"Super Mario Sunshine" (GCN, 2002) culminates in a trek into Isle Delfino's Corona Mountain. Mario's road to the final boss sees him navigating a series of platforms above a river of lava before taking charge of a small boat and carefully floating upstream to a conveniently-placed rocket nozzle.
A series of upward blasts takes him to the very top of the volcano, to the final fight with Bowser and Bowser Jr.
10. Krakarov Mountain
Answer: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus/Sly Raccoon
Krakarov Volcano is the last area in "Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus"/"Sly Raccoon" (PS2, 2002/03), home to the nefarious Clockwerk. With the other four of the Fiendish Five defeated, Sly and company break into the volcano's fortress to face off against the Cooper-hating creature once and for all.
