Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Badlands is a neutral zone for players.

Answer: True

Unlike the other surrounding zones near the Badlands, this one is free of any faction affiliation due to its barrenness and foreboding landscape. The level range for this zone spans levels 25 through 45, so adventurers coming here have already made their way through a number of difficult challenges. Ironically, many players may find themselves going far out of their way to get here too as many of the surrounding areas are either much easier or much more difficult. Swamp of Sorrows is, coincidentally, the same level range.
2. What is the name of the only outpost and flight path found in the Badlands?

Answer: Kargath

The only glimmer of salvation in this otherwise desolate landscape, Kargath is a rather small town in the western edge of the Badlands, populated by a few Horde characters including a trader and a flight path operator (one of many useful points between the Undercity and Booty Bay).

In addition, many of the quests found in Badlands commence at this location, so setting a Hearthstone to the inn here could be to your benefit if you're a Horde character. One can approach Kargath from either the south or the east to enter as it's nestled into the corner of a small canyon.
3. Zaricotl is a boss of which type?

Answer: Vulture

A large red and black flying elite, Zaricotl can appear in more than one location on the map, so finding him may be tricky. After numerous patches, his function in the game is no longer important, but he'll still appear to make a meal out of any player who ventures near. Unlike most enemies found in and around the Badlands, Zaricotl is a hard-hitting level 55, much higher than what players are used to. Nonetheless, he's not the only carrion bird enemy to be found in the zone.

Many quests also involve the defeating of similar birds in the Dustbowl and Apocryphan's Rest.
4. Which of these locations contains Ogres?

Answer: Dustbelch Grotto

Although most of these areas are similar in every way, only Dustbelch Grotto, a marked area on the southwest corner of your map, will hold Ogres (though it's certainly not the only location in all of the Badlands to do this). To reach it, you can simply head due south out of Kargath and it will be nestled in the hills. You know you've hit it when a ton of Ogres have found you first. Angor Fortress is also prominent on the map. Containing a number of enemy Dwarves, this base of operations can be easily stormed with a high-level character or small group of players in order to finish a quest or two.

The other two locations are less prominent.
5. One quest in the Dustbowl requires which of these odd mechanical trinkets?

Answer: Gyrochronatom

Requiring the use of one Iron Bar and a Gold Power Core, the Gyrochronatom is a piece of clockwork needed in order to complete the 'Gyro...What?' quest in the Dustbowl. Heading out east from Kargath, one can find a small engineering encampment along the hillside to the north containing a scientist looking to cause trouble.

Although it's the second quest in an inevitably longer string of quests set in the Dustbowl, it's one of the only quests in the entire zone to require help from the outside if you don't have a ranking of 170 in Engineering by this point. Any character-made Gyrochronatom will work; it's given to Lotwil Veriatus when you've got it.
6. What is needed to activate the pillars fond in Lethlor Ravine for the 'Broken Alliances' quest?

Answer: Sign of the Earth

Finding Boss Tho'Grun roaming around the Badlands with his escort may not be an easy task if you aren't sure of his oddly large path, but once you locate him, it's just a short battle between you and collecting the Sign of the Earth. Both Alliance and Horde players can complete quests regarding this character, and occasionally, you can defeat him without ever letting his guards notice (they must be daft). Once the quest is handed in, you can continue on to the east to Lethlor Ravine to start activating the different monoliths and claiming the jewels they produce.

This area, of course, is filled with dragons in both little and large forms. Watch out- they're some of the more devastating enemies in the zone.
7. Two dragon bosses can be fought in Lethlor Ravine. One is Hematus; what is the name of the other?

Answer: Blacklash

Once the Pillars of Opal, Amethyst, and Diamond are combined with the Sign of Earth, you can proceed to the center of the Lethlor Ravine to find a final pillar. Once activated, this will summon two dragons to add to the already highly-dragon-saturated area, both of which will be elite and at level 50. Both Blacklash and Hematus will use similar attacks and with a little bit of luck, one can be agroed without the other even knowing. In order to complete this Horde quest chain ('Broken Alliances'), you need to claim Blacklash's Bindings and the Chains of Hematus, both of which can't be used by your character outside the quest itself.
8. What camp is furthest north?

Answer: Camp Kosh

All four of these camps can be found in different parts of the Badlands, mostly on the eastern half. Although none of these camps have substantial quests or quest chains, it's always smart to stop in and defeat a few ogres here and there. Camp Kosh is the only one of the four Ogre camps in the northern half of the map, found slightly north of Lethlor Ravine. Because there are very few pathways through the Badlands, most of your traveling through these camps will be based on having already explored your map or blind travel.
9. One area to connect to the Badlands is Loch Modan. What is the other?

Answer: Searing Gorge

Searing Gorge is another contested zone, but that's where the similarities between it and the Badlands end. As soon as you head west out of Badlands (Kargath should be pretty close), you'll hit this area containing one Alliance town (Thorium Pass). While Badlands is for players levels 35 to 45, Searing Gorge is for players from level 43-50. The setting changes from a barren canyon area to a burnt-out pit.
Loch Modan, to the north of Badlands, is the only other way out of the zone. It can be reached in the north end of the Badlands. This area is for Alliance characters level 10 to 20.
10. What is the name of the only instance found in the Badlands?

Answer: Uldaman

Meant for players from level 35 to 45, Uldaman is an odd, underground temple dungeon teeming with Dwarves of all sorts. Coming into the hallways of this area (found in a rather deep dig site) will begin your quest through this, the only dungeon of the Badlands. Alliance players will find themselves completing more quests than Horde players here (including one Mage-specific quest).

The final boss of this extensive chamber is Archaedas, a stone watcher. He tends to be one of many lower-level 'big bosses' in the game as opposed to those in lower-level instances.

There are, of course, a number of other bosses too.
