Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tarren Mill's flightpath connects to what major Horde city?

Answer: The Undercity

Tarren Mill is found in the northern region of the Hillsbrad Foothills near the northern border. Many Undercity-based quest chains can continue through this town, and players will find Tarren Mill to be a very important flightpath location during their journeys. If players go through the Caverns of Time, they can go to a past mission in which Tarren Mill has not yet been destroyed by the Scourge (which also brought the Plaguelands to its current state). Tarren Mill also contains an inn, numerous trainers and traders, and a caravan-load of quest-givers.

This town is the main quest hub for Hillsbrad Horde players.
2. What is the name of the Alliance town found in Hillsbrad Foothills?

Answer: Southshore

Located on the edge of the Great Sea, Southshore is found on the coastline around a rather large bay. Led by humans, this is the zone's counterpart to Tarren Mill containing the main quest hub for Alliance players in the zone, an inn, and the necessary services and trainers for the area. Containing a flightpath, it's also a major stop on an Alliance players route across the continent- the next closest area is in Western Plaguelands or The Hinterlands, and beyond that there's little else by Horde cities and zones.

Many quests found here take players north into Alterac Mountains to fight the Syndicate, a crime group taking shelter in the northerly zone.
3. Southpoint Tower is found in which of these directions from the center of the zone?

Answer: West

Although the name 'Southpoint Tower' may throw players off, the structure is actually a ruined stone building on the western border of the the zone. The only NPC found here is a Horde quest-giver known as Deathstalker Lesh who takes new Horde players to Tarren Mill on the other side of the zone.

Other than this, the Southpoint Tower plays no other role in the zone other than to serve as a waypoint, a landmark on the Hillsbrad landscape. There is a second tower along the road heading west, but it remains unnamed and otherwise unnecessary in questing and exploring.
4. Along the coastline, which area contains Nagas?

Answer: Eastern Strand

The Eastern Strand, found closer to Southshore, is primarily occupied by Naga forces from the Daggerspine Clan. Finding your way here, you can come across Daggerspine Shorehunters, Sirens, and others, usually just over level 30. The Western Strand, on the other hand, is populated by Murloc fighters. Torn Fine Oracles, Coastrunners, and Tidehunters can commonly be found along this stretch of sandy coastline, and they're actually less threatening than the Nagas to the east due to their lower level. Quests for both of these types of creatures can be found at players' respective quest hubs in this zone.
5. Azurelode Mine is headed by Alliance NPCs.

Answer: True

Azurelode Mine, found to the west of Southshore, is a rather detrimental area for Alliance NPCs as its contents are beneficial to Dwarven forces. Foreman Bonds oversees all work completed in this subterranean cave system. Although Alliance players really won't need to visit the Azurelode Mine for any discernible reasons (ie. quests), Horde players will discover that a number of quests found in Tarren Mill revolve around crippling the actions taken by the Alliance characters settling and working here.

The enemies in here reach no higher (usually) than level 30.
6. Dun Garok is populated by which of these?

Answer: Dwarves

For Alliance players, Dun Garok is really of little interest. Besides normal NPCs, there is very little here which must be explored and there are no quests which directly involve players. The Horde, on the other hand, will find everyone here to be hostile, and as a result there are a number of quests here which involve defeating those inside. Situated in the southeast corner of the Hillsbrad Foothills map, players can reach Dun Garok quite easily.

Inside, Dwarven troops are led by Captain Ironhill, a character whose presence in the area is used to prevent Horde troops from attacking Southshore, thus forcing the Alliance to recede to the south.

He's a level 32 NPC.
7. The Syndicate occupies which eastern location?

Answer: Durnholde Keep

Durnholde Keep is a rather large, fortified location in the eastern side of the zone near the northeast border and Thoradin's Wall. Unlike many of the locations in Hillsbrad, but much like the adjacent zones, this fort is occupied by the Syndicate, a synonymous criminal organization.

Despite the fact that low level 20 enemies can be found roaming the parapets and ruins of this region (for example, Syndicate Watchmen, Rogues, and Shadow Mages), there are a couple of freelance NPCs inside. Kris Legace, for example, will sell items to any passers-by.
8. A fortified island south of the zone, what is the name of the only elite part of the area?

Answer: Purgation Isle

Although Purgation Isle was actually a lower-level region of Hillsbrad Foothills, patches brought it to a state at which all of its enemies are Elite and close to level 60. Because of this, players will find that it's (vastly) the most difficult area in the entire zone for players to complete. Once headed by Arados the Damned, the island can be found populated by Condemned and Cursed undead spectres, all of which have a tendency to drop a fair bit of cash upon their defeat. Purgation Isle is visited for a dungeon item set.
9. Which zone is directly southeast of Hillsbrad Foothills?

Answer: Arathi Highlands

Separated by Thoradin's Wall, the border between Hillsbrad Foothills and the level 30-40 Arathi Highlands to the southeast is quite long stretching from the bay connected to the Great Sea to the mountains near The Hinterlands. For players who started in The Undercity, it's a likely route to travel and complete quests as it follows Hillsbrad in terms of level range.

The wall separating the two zones is the major element responsible for protecting all southern regions from the onslaught of the Scourge which has wreaked havoc in the Plaguelands, Tarren Mill, and other locations. All of the other answers border Hillsbrad Foothills at different compass directions.
10. Hillsbrad Foothills contains only one instanced dungeon.

Answer: False

Hillsbrad Foothills actually contains none. In the case of this zone, the only adjacent zone to contain any instances would be Silverpine Forest to the west containing Shadowfang Keep, a relatively low-leveled instance next to the Worgen-run Pyrewood Village near Greymane Wall. Regardless, players looking for that step up in terms of battling and leveling in Hillsbrad can always head out to sea to find Purgation Isle- it's the closest players will get to 'harder stuff' without moving on to the Arathi Highlands.
