Answer: Aerie Peak

If you're heading into The Hinterlands from the southeast, the path will lead you directly into Aerie Peak, the Alliance town situated in the western mountain range of the zone. This city is home to a number of traders and the majority of quest NPCs for the entire area. Populated by dwarves, it is one of only two flight path locations in the zone.

The city is not to be confused with the adjacent explorable area, Aerie Peaks, which is filled with enemy Gryphons. These Gryphons, as you head east, will begin to diminish the further you go, but they're still present across the majority of The Hinterlands.

Answer: Lard

Revantusk Village is the Horde settlement located at the southeast corner of the map, overlooking the sea. Horde players will find that more of their quests come from this location in The Hinterlands than any other in the zone. Nestled on the coastline, Revantusk Village contains a flightpath location at the end of its dock as well as a number of profession trainers.

The innkeeper, Lard, has lost his lunch (a picnic basket of food) on a small island just offshore from The Overlook Cliffs, but you'll find when you arrive there that it may be a bit of a risky task to partake in.

The Revantusk Tribe is comprised of trolls.

Answer: Rin'ji

In the mid-western portion of The Hinterlands, this rather large structure houses a number of enemy elves. While here, Horde players complete a number of quests pertaining to opposing the Highvale clan. One quest in particular requires that you kill fifteen Highvale Outrunners, Scouts, Rangers, and Marksmen. Rin'ji, found inside the Lodge in a cage, will require your assistance in fleeing from captivity.

He'll lead the way to the road, but you'll need to protect him from harm. After the quest, he'll lead the way to a small island off the eastern shore containing a secret tablet.

This can be brought back to the Undercity for an additional quest.

Answer: Hinterlands Honey Ripple

The quest to travel to Skulk Rock will be earned when players head to Shindigger's Camp found between Aerie Peak and Plaguemist Ravine to the north. Although Shindigger's Camp really has little significance for both Horde and Alliance players, Horde travelers can take a quick Detour here if they plan to head to the cave, once a former Horde camp now overrun by Ooze of different types. Once returned to Gilveradin Shindigger, he'll tell you to deliver it to Orgrimmar to complete the quest chain. You need ten bottles of Honey Ripple to finish the quest.

One of the later quests to complete in Shadra'alor, a spider-infested system of temples and ruins, is 'Summoning Shadra', during which a player can use a Parchment to summon the eight-legged boss. This creature, an elite at level 55, used to be an extremely large red spider, but has since been downgraded to the size of one of her regular guards.

As a deity, she's worshiped by local trolls. Aside from this, a number of quests for the Sunken Temple instance in the Swamp of Sorrows can be accumulated on one of the temple ledges.

The spider-based quests are Horde-centric, but Alliance players can still visit to search for Featherbeard.

Answer: Grimtotem Tauren

First and foremost, the area is crawling with wolves of all shapes and sizes (similar colours though). As you move progressively east, the wolves will start to get trickier, starting out as weaker Mangy Silvermanes and progressing to sneaky cloaked Silvermane Wolves. Primitive Owlbeast, likewise, appear throughout the forests in different places with little rhyme or reason.

These large creatures are typically rarer than the wolves. Green Sludge can be found in and around Skulk Rock guarding all-important crates of alcohol.

The odd one out is the Grimtotem Tauren, found in Feralas; Alliance players will be the ones to fight these during a quest.

Answer: The Ancient Egg

Although many of the quests in the troll temple area known as Jinth'alor are for Horde players, 'The Ancient Egg' is a neutral quest. There are many tiers, however, which players must trudge up along the side of this temple area before the cave can be reached, and there are a number of troll denizens which must or can be defeated for quests or accessibility. Jintha'alor is found in the southeast of The Hinterlands, and mountains separated it from Revantusk Village. Inevitably, players can use the Ancient Egg found guarded in the rocky cave behind the Priestess of Jintha'alor and the altar in the large amphitheater when they head to the Swamp of Sorrows.

The Egg itself needs to be filled in the Sunken Temple instance.

Answer: Green

Seradane is an entrypoint to the Emerald Dream, a realm dedicated to green dragons, known for their influence and reign over the natural world. Dreamtracker, for example, would be a dragon found here guarding the Great Tree. At level 62, Dreamtracker is a higher level than most players attempting to run through the zone (typically). Rothos, a similar dragon, can also be found exclusively in this region. Green dragons are typically threatened by the Dragons of Nightmare, and though it only happens very rarely, they may also have a tendency to cause havoc here. Seradane is in the northeast of The Hinterlands.

Answer: Two

Players can either reach Hillsbrad Foothills to the southwest by foot or the Western Plaguelands to the north through Plaguemist Ravine. Players coming from Hillsbrad probably won't be ready for the level jump between the zones as Hillsbrad is typically for players emerging from lower-level locations (ie. Silverpine Forest for Horde players). Western Plaguelands, on the other hand, is much more appropriate in terms of level range. Players above level 50 (you'll probably be finishing Hinterlands at this level at a good rate) will find themselves at home here. Both Hillsbrad and Western Plaguelands are neutral zones- not faction-centric.

Answer: No

For players looking for instanced dungeons, there are none in this zone. Instead, however, players can find a fair number of quests at their respective faction city or travel to Jintha'Alor or Seradane for more difficult questing experiences. Players looking for a bit of a difficult challenge can go north to the Western Plaguelands to find Scholomance, a level 56-61 dungeon instance.

This would probably be the closest instance to the current zone. Similarly, Hillsbrad Foothills has no instanced dungeons, and neither do the Arathi Highlands even further south.
