Chateau d'Amboise in France has a rich history as a favored residence of many Queens and Kings of France from Louis XI to Francis I. It was King Francis I in 1516 that invited Leonardo da Vinci to come live in Amboise. The artist lived and worked at the Clos Palace until his death in 1519. According to his will he was buried in the cloisters of the Saint Florentin church. Years later the church was looted and thrown into ruins.

Many hundreds of years later, the grounds were excavated and an anonymous skeleton was discovered. Nearby there was an inscription with the letters LEONADO.

Answer: Hanging precariously against sheer mountain faces

The practice of hanging coffins from mountainsides or deposited in caves high above the ground is a practice rooted in a variety of different Asian cultures. People and tribes found in China, Indonesia, and the Philippines have been conducting this ritual for hundreds of years.

Some of the oldest hanging coffins are found in the Wuyi Mountains and date back almost 3,000 years. As one Chinese researcher stated: it makes more sense to bury a person close to God 5000 feet off the ground rather than further away ten feet beneath one's feet.
