There are large Dutch (Vlaams) and French (Wallon) speaking communities in Belgium as well as a smaller German speaking one. The capital Brussels is officially bilingual but the people there are mainly French speaking.

Answer: Chinese

The story goes that Chinese who wanted to develop an elixir of immortality created gunpowder instead, by accident. It was made of sulfur, saltpeter (potassium nitrate) and charcoal. By 900CE, the Chinese military were using it in battle. Within a few hundred years, its use had spread to Arab countries. It then spread to Greece, then the rest of Europe.

Answer: Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement

The full title of the agreement "Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement" was too long to fit in the answer box, so I removed the "and" from it. The treaty was signed by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and directors of EU institutions. The agreement aims to create growth and jobs.

The agreement was nearly cancelled after disagreements from French-speaking Belgians. They finally relented on 27 October 2016, and the agreement was able to go for signing.

A Navy Captain is equivalent to a full Colonel in the Army while the equivalent of an Army Captain is called Lieutenant in the Navy. Due to this discrepancy and the fact that "Captain" is reserved as an address for the vessel's commanding officer, it is customary that an Army Captain traveling on a ship is addressed as Major, one rank higher than his actual status.
