Answer: Dunham Tavern Museum

Rufus and Jane Pratt Dunham built their beautiful home in 1819 and added onto it to open the tavern in 1832. It was open for business until about 1857. Upon closing, it was privately owned until 1940 when the Society for American Collectors purchased it and decorated it as it had been in the mid-1800s.

The Heritage Trail on the 14 acres of land surrounding the museum goes through beautiful gardens with silhouettes at many places depicting daily life in past times.

Answer: Cleveland Museum of Natural History

One of my favorites, this museum holds many permanent exhibits including a large collection of dinosaur bones and skeletons. It also has an observatory open to the public on clear Wednesday nights and a fiber-optic star dome for daytime visitors. They always have interesting special exhibits such as the "Race" exhibit of September 2008-January 2009.

Answer: A steamship

The 618ft steamship was built in 1925. In 1987, it was donated to the Great Lakes Historical Society by the Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company after it retired as its flagship. It's a great tour because you are allowed to walk through the entire ship, but I don't recommend it for claustrophobic people. It is open from May until the end of October every year.

Answer: Great Lakes Science Center

The center has over 400 hands-on permanent exhibits and is always hosting special exhibits as well. The Polymer Fun house is great for kids 7 and under. My favorite permanent exhibit is the Bridge of Fire, a static generator. It causes your hair to stand on end if you touch it!

Answer: Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa"

Cleveland is lucky enough to have one of Monet's "Water Lilies," the other two are currently in Kansas City and St.Louis. They also have Leonardo Da Vinci's "Virgin and Child," and Picasso's "Woman with a Cape." The "Mona Lisa" is famously displayed at the Louvre in France.

Answer: International Women's Air & Space Museum

Valentina Tereshkova, of Russia, was the first woman in space. Sally K. Ride was the first American female in space, and Judith A. Resnik was killed on the ill-fated 1986 Challenger mission. By the way, the Bata Shoe Museum really exists and is in Toronto.

Answer: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

The 143,000sq.ft. building was designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners of New York City. The amazing museum takes up most of the large building, whereas the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a relatively small, dark room at the top of the museum displaying white back-lit names and autographs of the inductees. Nevertheless, it is still an amazing museum that I would recommend to anyone who gets a chance to visit Cleveland.

Answer: Auto-Aviation

The Crawford Collection of The Western Reserve Historical Society has over 200 antique and classic cars, motorcycles, and aircraft. Admission to the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum ($8) also gets you into the adjoining History Museum which houses one of the top ranked costume collections from the late 1700s to the present.

Answer: The Cleveland Police Museum

This museum is attached to the Justice Center and has many exhibits on police accomplishments, and it also displays many cases and people associated with the CPD since its inception in 1866. The 13 Kingsbury Death Masks are molds formed from the heads of the decapitated victims of a serial killer from the 1930s.

The detectives made these and put them on display to try and get the public to help identify the victims, but it was almost totally unsuccessful. Some are even made with hair from the actual victims.

The police investigated for years, but the killer was never caught.

Answer: Croatia

The Croatian Heritage Museum and Library is inside of the American Croatian Lodge. Admission is free. The exhibits change roughly every month, and anyone who lives in the area with Eastern European heritage or who wants to learn about one of those cultures should check it out.
