This is the River Ness as it flows through Inverness, with St Andrew's Cathedral in the background. Inverness means "Mouth of the Ness", and is the most northerly city in the UK. Loch Ness, from which the river flows, is of course well known for the monster which allegedly lives in its depths. Saint Columba was said to have banished a "water monster" back into the river after it tried to attack one of his disciples.
