Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which song was voted in at number one in the countdown?

Answer: Powderfinger - "My Happiness"

"My Happiness" is Powderfinger's second song to top the countdown. It was also a success commercially, becoming their first top five hit in Australia.
2. Which song was voted in at number 100 in the countdown?

Answer: Green Day - "Warning"

In addition to this, Green Day made number 14 with "Minority".
Metallica - "I Disappear" made number 84.
Bodyjar - "Fall to the Ground" made number 66.
Coldplay - "Shiver" made number 63.
3. Did any artist receive consecutive entries? (Example: 78 and 79)

Answer: No

Powderfinger were the closest to achieving this in 2000. They made numbers one and three. Other artists to have entries which were less than ten apart include Limp Bizkit, Gomez, Placebo, and Metallica.
4. Which artist received the most entries in the countdown?

Answer: Rage Against the Machine

Although they only had three entries, Rage Against the Machine managed the most entries in the countdown with "Sleep Now in the Fire", "Maria", and "Renegades of Funk" at numbers 13, 77, and 95 respectively.
5. In the 2000 countdown, which country was represented in the top five for the third time?

Answer: Ireland

U2 made number two with "Beautiful Day", becoming the second Irish artist to do so. The other two Irish entries were by The Cranberries in 1993 and 1994. There were no entries in the top 20 from Sweden, France, or New Zealand.
6. Which of these artists achieved two top 20 entries?

Answer: The Foo Fighters

The Foo Fighters made numbers eight and 18 with "Generator" and "Stacked Actors". Red Hot Chili Peppers only had one top 20 entry with "Californication" at number seven. The Living End also had only one entry, "Pictures in the Mirror" at number 19. The Superjesus's only top 20 entry was "Gravity" at number 17.
7. What was the highest entry in the countdown by a British artist?

Answer: Coldplay - "Yellow"

"Yellow" made number five in the countdown. It was also the only British entry in the top 25, with "We Haven't Turned Around" by Gomez being the second-highest at number 35. In total there were only 15 British entries in the countdown. Conversely, there were 15 British entries in the top 25 of the 1990 countdown.
8. Which of the following artists who have topped the list in other years, did not have an entry in the countdown?

Answer: Spiderbait

Spiderbait did not have any entries in the 2000 countdown. However, they did enter the 1999 and 2001 countdowns.
Powderfinger made numbers one and three with "My Happiness" and "My Kind of Scene".
The Whitlams made number 37 with "Thank You (For Loving Me at My Worst)".
Muse made number 82 with "Sunburn".
9. How many entries in the countdown were by Australian artists?

Answer: 40

This is reasonably less than that of the previous year. Of the 40 entries, four of them were in the top ten, making Australia tied with America for the most top ten entries in the 2000 countdown.
10. Every year since 1993, a Hottest 100 CD has been released, featuring about 40 songs from the countdown. What was strange about the inclusion of a Queens of the Stone Age song on the CD for this year?

Answer: Their song never made the countdown

The song "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" from the 2000 album "Rated R" did not actually make the countdown, making it an odd inclusion on the compilation. Queens of the Stone Age didn't make the Hottest 100 until 2002, where they featured prominently.
