Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Lalo Salamanca is still in Europe.

Answer: False

The notorious officially-dead Mexican drug-lord has now returned to Albuquerque. He is (perhaps appropriately) hiding in an old sewer. At night he spies on the laundromat Gus and co bought last year. Thanks to torturing poor Casper, Lalo now knows The Salamancas' arch-rival is building a secret underground meth-lab here.

But sneaking inside with a camcorder will not be easy; it's heavily-guarded. So how will Lalo get the proof he needs to show Cartel Boss Eladio?
2. Where is Kim at the start of this episode?

Answer: A park with Jimmy

Jimmy keeps telling Kim if she "breaks the speed limit" she can still get to her crucial Santa Fe meeting in time. After learning the real judge has his arm in a sling, Jimmy quickly organises a last-minute photo reshoot. He disturbs the film students, practically grabs Lenny from his supermarket car-park, and assembles everyone in a nearby park. Kim - who had a broken arm last year - rushes up with all they need to give Lenny a phony sling for his arm. Jimmy insists Kim doesn't need to be here, adding "I was around your cast almost as much as you." (Knowing Jimmy, "cast" was probably a pun since Lenny is an actor.) But Kim disagrees. "This is where I need to be."
3. Which HHM employee turns out to be have been working for Jimmy/Saul all this time?

Answer: Genidowski the PI

Sprinting at top speed, with an envelope containing hastily developed photos, Jimmy runs to the driver of a waiting vehicle. And who is the driver? None other than Howard's new PI Genidowski! This explains a lot...
Genidowski grabs the envelope and recklessly drives away...nearly colliding with another car! Silly man...
4. Howard was expecting a visit from his PI Genidowski this morning.

Answer: False

Today is the big day ("D-Day" as Jimmy and Kim call it)! The Sandpiper case the McGills began two years will finally be settled today. But as far as everyone is concerned, today is actually mediation day.
Clifford Main and Howard Hamlin warn the principle plaintiff Irene Landry that this case will probably take another 18 months at least. Now they are waiting for the Sandpiper people to arrive and Judge Casimiro, the new mediator. Then suddenly, Genidowski the PI arrives to see Howard. He says "There's been a development."
And he meant it literally; he has some new photographs. Jimmy/Saul is sitting on a park bench, and handing an envelope to an unknown man with an odd moustache, arm in a sling. The same envelope McGill stashed his suspiciously-huge withdrawal the other day!
Howard doesn't recognise the stranger with the broken arm. So he asks Genidowski to do whatever it takes to find him. Then he has to hurry off to his meeting. Genidowski leaves (after switching something behind Howard's back!).
5. What word does the real Judge Casimiro use which infuriates Howard?

Answer: Compromise

Everyone is sitting at the HHM conference table, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the judge. Sandpiper's top brass, their lawyers, Howard and Cliff, Irene Landry, Erin from Cliff's firm, and so on. Many others are listening in via Erin's cell phone on the table, too (plus Jimmy and Kim, without anyone knowing).
Howard has never met Cliff's friend the famous retired Judge Casimiro before. Little does he know...
Suddenly, Julie opens the conference door, and in walks the famous Rand Casimiro - with his left arm in a sling. He sits at the head of the table - underneath a portrait of the late Chuck McGill. Howard cannot believe this - it's the same guy in Genidowski's photos!
The judge introduces himself, adding "The best solutions mean compromise."
Howard scoffs angrily. He informs everyone that word is inappropriate; their mediator himself is compromised!
6. What kind of car does Rand Casimiro drive?

Answer: A silver Miata

When Genidowski shows Howard the photos, he adds the mysterious man drives a silver Miata. Now the mysterious man's seated before him, Howard asks coldly "You drive a silver Miata, right?" The judge admits he does, wondering what that has to do with anything. Howard apologises to everyone but he doesn't believe they can proceed with these negotiations today. He has photographs of this man taking a bribe from Jimmy aka Saul Goodman of all people!
What?!?!?!?!
Is this some kind of joke? Needless-to-say, Casimiro is not laughing...
Irene asks: "Is this how these things usually go?"
7. What is wrong with the photos Howard tells Julie to fetch?

Answer: Judge Casimiro isn't in them

Judge Casimiro is flabbergasted - not to mention outraged. He did not drive all this way from Santa Fe to be publicly slandered by Hamlin!
Casimiro insists he doesn't know anyone named James McGill or Saul Goodman - let alone accepted any bribes. He grows even angrier when Howard more or less calls him a liar; adding he has photos to prove it. Howard sends Julie off to get them. Everyone looks at one another in disbelief. Is Howard serious???
When the photos arrive, the Judge, Cliff, Irene, Rich and Julie all gather round. They are photographs of McGill on the park-bench alright. But he's simply returning a FRISBEE to a young man who has a moustache like Casimiro's! (Actually one of the film students in disguise.)
"Is that supposed to be ME?" demands the perplexed judge.
8. Who is the first to notice Howard's "cocaine-eyes"?

Answer: Erin Brill

Erin worked with Jimmy for a short time in 2002 when he joined Cliff's law firm in Santa Fe. Jimmy kept behaving so inappropriately Cliff had to fire him. But neither Erin nor Cliff can believe Jimmy/Saul would sabotage this case. For one thing, he is entitled to 20% of the lawyers' settlement (easily over $1.5 million).
Suddenly Erin spots Howard's eyes. "Mr. Hamlin, are you alright? Your eyes..." Howard makes things worse by yelling at her, and everyone else, then hurrying out of the room, shouting paranoid accusations e.g. Jimmy snuck in and switched the photos. In other words - behaving like a man on drugs.
One-by-one, embarrassed, everyone leaves. Cliff apologises profoundly to Casimiro but can't convince the judge to stay. Cliff has no more doubt Howard's got a drug-problem. So, reluctantly, he agrees to settle this case for a lesser amount once and for all. Cliff and Howard argue in Howard's office. Howard explains Julie just phoned their PI agency and no one called "Genidowski" ever worked there! So the "PI" worked for Saul all along. Cliff cannot believe this. Howard adds the (missing) photos he examined were wet. So Saul and Genidowski must have added some chemical that got into Howard's skin and made his eyes turn weird. Cliff just shakes his head sadly. That's ridiculous. "It doesn't matter." he tries to tell his friend. No one will ever believe that.
Howard finally agrees settling for a smaller amount is best. Jimmy and Kim are now millionaires...
9. What insect reminds Lalo of Saul Goodman?

Answer: A cockroach

Still hiding in the sewers, Lalo phones his Uncle Hector. But he hears some strange clicks - meaning Fring's people are listening! He hangs up, bashes his chair against the wall, hissing "Clever, clever chicken-man!" But then he thinks of a way The Salamancas can use this to their advantage!
He phones Hector's retirement home again and lies. He tells Hector he couldn't find any proof in Europe after all. So he is going to kill Gus tonight! Hector knows that would be suicide. So he keeps ringing his bell to stop Lalo, but Lalo hangs up.
Needlessly to say: Lalo is NOT going to Gus' home; it would be too-well guarded. Instead, he wants to get into the laundromat and film the secret underground chamber. Once the cartel learns what Gus had been up to, goodbye Gus!
Lalo's plan works. A few minutes later, he sees Mike and co hurriedly leaving the laundromat. But they're soon replaced by other goons. Lalo will need to think of another diversion.
Then he spots a cockroach. Hmm. What Albuquerque lawyer did he refer to as a "cockroach" a month or so ago when in jail?
10. How is the word "execution" justified in this episode's title?

Answer: Howard is murdered

Howard is not stupid. He correctly guesses his two former employees Jimmy and Kim set him up - just to get their seven-figure share of the Sandpiper settlement. (One could argue Howard did not deserve that; he'd made the effort to be a nicer guy since Chuck's death. But having said that, all those elderly people and their families should have got their money sooner; no one but the lawyers benefited from the case dragging on so long!) A drunken Howard visits the lovebirds that night.
Unfortunately, he isn't their only visitor...
While they're arguing, who should walk in but Lalo Salamanca? A ghost from the past! (Literal in Jimmy's case; Kim didn't tell him Lalo was still alive.)
Just as Howard warns his rivals he is going to devote his life to (1) proving he is not a cocaine-addict and (2) exposing what the lovebirds are really like, a strange Mexican walks in. Howard doesn't recognise him, but Kim and Jimmy scream. But their screams are nothing compared to a moment later...when Lalo puts a silencer on his gun and kills Howard in front of them. He doesn't want any witnesses to Mr. and Mrs. Goodman's upcoming "assistance"...
Before the final season of "Better Call Saul" aired, fans speculated Howard must have been killed since he wasn't in "Breaking Bad". Personally, I thought that was because Howard simply wouldn't have any connection to any "BB" characters. But I was wrong...
