Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What crime does Lalo force Saul to drive off and commit?

Answer: It's actually Kim

Today has been the best day of Jimmy and Kim's life. Their scheme against their arch-rival Howard has made them millionaires. But it's also their worst; Howard Hamlin now lies dead at their feet. (Personally I never expected the legal and not-so-legal sides of Jimmy/Saul's life to converge - let alone so tragically!)
Why did Lalo kill Howard? He only needs two people in his plan to con Fring. A third means an extra witness to worry about.
Lalo orders Saul/Jimmy to take Lalo's car and go shoot Gus, take a photo (hence the episode's name), and get back here. Fast! If he's not back in an hour, Kim will be as dead as Howard.
But Jimmy pleads Lalo send Kim instead; he wants her to be safe. They argue, and finally Lalo exclaims "Whatever!" and tells the protesting Kim what to do. It's practically unheard-of for anyone to convince Lalo to change his mind. Is there something he's not telling the lawyers? But before anyone can ask, he snaps "Clock's ticking, Mrs. Goodman."
Kim hurries away.
2. Lalo takes Jimmy with him to Gus' laundromat.

Answer: False

After Kim hastily drives off, unsure if she can bring herself to commit a heinous crime - even to save her husband's life, Lalo glares at Jimmy. He is now leaving too. But first...he gags Saul and ties him to a chair. "When I get back, you and I are going to talk," he adds, coldly.
But as it turns out, Lalo has no intention of coming back. Nor was it important which lawyer went to Gus' house, nor who stayed...
3. Which Fring enforcer apprehends the gun-carrying lawyer outside Gus' home?

Answer: Mike

Gun in hand, Kim nervously steps out of Lalo's car. What is she supposed to do now?!?!? She can't bring herself to walk up to that house and kill someone. But what choice does she have?! For all she knows Lalo's already shot Jimmy, too.
(No one knows five years from now, a dying chemistry teacher named White will be standing on this same spot, about to shoot the same man.)
Trembling, Kim slowly walks towards the door, rings the bell, and waits. Slowly, the door opens...then someone grabs Kim from behind! She screams as the mysterious man bundles her into the house, and closes the door. It's the last person Kim expected to see: Mike Ehrmantraut! What's HE doing here?
4. What was the real reason Lalo visited the lawyers?

Answer: To create a diversion

As we've come to expect from Lalo Salamanca: brilliant, but horrible! He sent Kim to kill Gus, knowing the guards would apprehend her and find out where he was. So they'd all converge on Kim's home...to find Jimmy bound and gagged. Telling them Lalo said he'd be back soon.
But he actually went back to the laundromat, knowing it was no longer guarded since everyone was looking for him. He'd sneak inside with his camcorder...then finally The Cartel would know their favourite earner Fring is double-crossing them. Goodbye, Gus.
But, as fate would have it, Gus of all people comes to the laundromat to investigate. Lalo smiles devilishly. He wasn't expecting this!
5. Which murdered Salamanca associate does Lalo talk to Saul about?

Answer: Nacho

Lalo doesn't know Nacho is dead. He correctly guessed Nacho let the hit-squad into his property weeks ago - arranged by Gus. Now he glares at his lawyer, remarking "...and who did Ignacio introduce me to? You!"
Jimmy knew about the attack, but not its failure. So he protests with the truth: "Nacho? Woah woah woah I barely know Ignacio!" Terrified Lalo is about to murder him in retaliation, he wails: "It wasn't me, it was Ignacio!" (Four years later, he will wail the same to Jesse and Walt, thinking they're Cartel hitmen.)
"Save it!" Lalo gags the chatty lawyer and leaves.
Lalo would probably love to murder Goodman too, but needs him alive. Fring's men should arrive soon, and Lalo needs Saul to tell them he's coming back tonight. Their gullibility will give Lalo all the time he needs to film Gus' secret underground chamber for Don Eladio.
6. Who damages Howard's Jaguar in this episode?

Answer: No One

Unlike its owner, the car is fine. Several days after this horrific night, the police find it parked on a beach. Its door is open, music is playing, but there is no sign of a driver. Only a pair of shoes...in the ocean. The cops also find traces of cocaine on the driver's seat.
The official story: Howard Hamlin - a secret drug-addict - felt so humiliated after breaking down at the Sandpiper meeting that he took his own life.
The truth: Mike and co-arranged it all. Kim told Mike everything, and so he uses their cocaine story when fabricating an explanation for the missing Hamlin's disappearance.
7. Gus obeys Mike's order to "hunker down" and stay home.

Answer: False

After Mike and co. hurry off to find Lalo, Gus ponders what's just happened (he was watching Kim and Mike's arguing on a security monitor). He phones Victor, who has stayed with Kim, and asks to speak with her. "Why did Lalo send you?"
Kim explains he actually wanted to send her husband at first. But Saul talked Lalo into sending her instead.
Breathlessly, Kim adds "So now I've told you everything I know. Please tell me...tell me what's going on..." but Gus hangs up.
Goodman was able to talk LALO of all people out of something? That doesn't seem right. What's Lalo really up?
Gus has a pretty good idea. He grabs a few bodyguards and drives straight to the laundromat.
8. Where do the two crime-bosses have their final showdown?

Answer: Underneath the laundromat

Gus is overconfident. He checks on the laundromat, convinced he will be OK, surrounded by four of his thugs. But he forgets Lalo is a cleverly-trained professional. Lalo jumps out of the shadows, kills everyone but Gus, and laughs nastily. He wasn't expecting his arch-enemy to actually turn up tonight!
Thanks to Casper, Lalo knows where the secret entrance to the underground construction is. With his pistol, he points Gus in that direction. All the while filming with his camcorder and bragging to Eladio. When the latter watches later, he will have the added enjoyment of Gus being killed. Just then, Gus' cell phone rings. Lalo throws it away. It's Mike. He and his men went to Kim's home, untied Jimmy, learnt Lalo left RIGHT after Kim did. So he's been tricking them!
Lalo shoots Gus in the ribs (lucky he's wearing a bullet-proof vest!) and makes him open the secret entrance. Laughing, Lalo forces Gus to walk down the metal stairs to the floor of the covert cavern. Little does Lalo know: Gus planned for this contingency weeks ago...
Lalo knows Mike and co. will arrive soon. But he gives Gus an extra minute to tell Eladio what he thinks of him. Why not? It won't save Gus. Or will it?
While Lalo's gloating, Gus suddenly kicks a cord at his feet...and the lights go off!
Despite the pitch-black, Gus finds his concealed pistol, and points and shoots it at the dreaded Lalo! (Hence the episode's name.) Lalo never gloats again...
Mike and co eventually arrive, and get the wounded Gus home.
Mike coldly asks his employer. "You happy with the way things went down tonight? Cause I'm not."
Gus glares at his employee, reminding him who's in charge. They won after all, didn't they?
Perhaps. But it doesn't bring poor Howard back...
9. Jimmy/Saul is certain they will never see Lalo again.

Answer: False

Jimmy, unable to sleep, sits on the edge of his bed all night. Only vaguely aware of Mike's people coming and going, and Howard's corpse on the floor. To think, a few years ago a dead Howard would have delighted Jimmy no end. But not tonight.
Suddenly, as dawn breaks, Kim walks in. She sees her husband and they run over and hug one another. Grateful to be alive!
They sit miserably on their bed when Mike walks in. He explains he's getting them a new refrigerator (Howard's body's hidden in the outgoing one). Mike strongly impresses upon them: "None - of - this - ever - happened." Jimmy is fine with that arrangement. But Kim, not used to corpses or dark underworld subterfuge, is probably wishing she'd stopped her husband starting a practice for high-paying bloodthirsty psychos.
Then Saul insists Lalo said he was coming back. Impatiently, Mike says "Listen to me: he's - not - coming - back."
But he'd promised that before. Which explains why four years later, Saul is sure his kidnappers work for Lalo.
10. How do the gangsters dispose of their enemy's corpse?

Answer: Bury it next to Howard's

The creators of this show warned "Breaking Bad" fans that they would look at "BB" in a "very different way" once "BCS" ended. They must have meant the fact that Lalo and Howard were buried underneath the superlab all these years.
Four years later when Walter White and Jesse Pinkman first meet Saul (well...kidnap him), he thinks long-lost Lalo Salamanca sent them. After connecting them with Gus months later, he would have been astonished to learn the rogue chemists literally walked over Howard and Lalo's grave every day.
