Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. During their Road Block in Perth in Leg 19, teams had to memorize trivia about which topic?

Answer: Aviation

At the start of Leg 19, teams were informed that it was time for them to head back home to Australia, flying from Mexico (out of Mérida) and heading to Perth on the west coast. Teams left Perth Airport in the order they arrived at the previous Pit Stop and took taxis to the Royal Aero Club at Jandakot Airport for a Road Block task. For this one, one member of each team needed to 'feel grounded', and with this challenge they had to hop into a plane and memorize Australian aviation trivia as told to them by their pilot in the air during an aerobatics session. If they could answer all five questions correctly on the ground, they could receive their next clue. Toni, Pako, Cynthia, Angel, and Kelly did this one.
2. Visiting the Swan Bells Tower in Leg 19, teams had to play how many notes in unison in four minutes?

Answer: Four

Finishing the Road Block, teams needed to get themselves to the Perth City Centre and to the Swan Bells Tower where they had to take control of the tower's famous bells and, in four minutes in the building, ring two bells simultaneously four times. If they could get the timing right, pulling the ropes to get the bells to ring in perfect unison they would get their next clue, otherwise they would need to go to the back of any waiting line.
3. In Perth, teams completed a virtual reality game involving which of the following to collect a clue in Leg 19?

Answer: Aliens

Remaining in Perth's City Centre, teams had to proceed to Ready Team One in the Murray Street Mall. There, wearing a virtual reality headset and rig, both team member would hop into a full-body video game wherein they needed to survive an alien attack. If they could defeat the alien leader and complete their mission to save the world, they could receive their next clue.
4. Visiting Optus Stadium in Leg 19, teams memorized the seasons of the Noongar calendar. How many seasons were there?

Answer: Six

For their final task in Leg 19, teams made their way by taxi to Perth's Burswood region to locate Optus Stadium, one of the largest stadiums in Australia, where they could put on harnesses and proceed to the upper levels to partake in their 'Vertigo' experience. For this, all racers would be suspended above the stadium from the roof, hanging upside-down above the field below. From there, they would need to memorize the six seasons of the Noongar calendar as noted upside-down on the stadium's big screen (Birak, Bunaru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba and Kambrang). If they could recite all six correctly, they could get their last clue for the leg.
5. Which team was last to arrive at the race's 19th Pit Stop in Perth and, subsequently, eliminated from the race?

Answer: Pako and Mori

Finishing their 'Vertigo' challenge, teams needed to take a cab from West Perth's Optus Stadium and head to East Perth, reaching the Perth Mint to find their Pit Stop. Heath and Toni kept their lead coming all the way from Mexico, checking into the Pit Stop in first place for the second consecutive leg (and the fifth time overall). Pako and Mori, opting to take a penalty instead of completing the Optus Stadium task due to Mori's debilitating fear of heights, arrived fourth, but had to wait out their mandatory fifteen minute wait.

It allowed Angel and Frankie to check in in fourth place, eliminating the boys in fifth place with only ten seconds left on the clock.
6. Instead of starting their penultimate leg of the race at the Perth Mint, racers started it at what Fremantle landmark?

Answer: Fremantle Clock Tower

Leg 20 started teams near the water as they headed across Perth to Fremantle, ripping open the first clue of the race's second-to-last leg underneath the Fremantle Clock Tower. There, teams determined that they would need to make their way to the ferry terminal to catch a boat to Rottnest Island for one last test of observation.

They would open their next clue upon their arrival on the island.
7. Who completed the skydiving Road Block on Rottnest Island in Leg 20?

Answer: Cynthia

Arriving at Rottnest, teams opened a Road Block clue that had them selecting the racer who was 'ready to drop', and for this one, Heath, Cynthia, Georgia, and Frankie had to head to the Geronimo Skydive Rottnest Airfield via Segway, navigating to the terminal where they would board a plane and perform a 15,000 foot skydive.

After a harrowing minute-long fall from that height to the ground they could reunite with their partner at the army jetty and get their next clue, sending them back to Fremantle.
8. At the Gage Roads Brewing Company in Fremantle, teams needed to transport which of these before enjoying a tall glass of beer?

Answer: Malt

Returning to Fremantle by ferry, the teams had to take a taxi to the Gage Roads Brewing Company at the Victoria Quay and join the local brewers at their work. There, teams needed to move half a tonne pallet of brewing malt from the loading dock and to the brewery, restacking it on a new pallet. Once this was complete, teams could enjoy the fruits of their labour by drinking a yard glass of Gage Roads' non-alcoholic beer. If both could empty their 1.4L glasses they could trade them for their next clue.
9. At the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, teams reached a statue of what famous figure for their final clue of Leg 20?

Answer: Bon Scott

Racing out from Gage Roads, teams had to find the Round House, Western Australia's oldest building, and enjoy a meal like a convict. What this meant was that after collecting a tray of prison rations (Spam, bread, and lime juice), teams headed to the lawn where one team member was locked in stocks.

The other team member would toss bread and Spam at them until the imprisoned team member caught the food in their mouths. When they washed it down with lime juice they would ring the curfew bell and get their next clue.

It sent them to the Fisherman's Wharf to find the statue of AC/DC's Bon Scott and their next envelope.
10. Which team was eliminated at the end of Leg 20, narrowly missing the final leg of the race?

Answer: Tiffany and Cynthia

Once teams found the Bon Scott statue, they were in for one last sprint to secure their spot in the final leg of the race, and it took them along the half-kilometre breakwater in Fremantle's harbour to the South Mole Lighthouse, where Beau would be waiting at the last Pit Stop mat and where one team would be eliminated in fourth place.

After a lengthy and tight footrace, the first team to hit the mat ended up being Kelly and Georgia who, after accidentally leaving their bum-bag at the brewery, managed to stay ahead and take their third win of the race. It meant that aunt and niece Tiffany and Cynthia, the last all-female team in the race, was eliminated.
11. In the final leg of the race, the top three teams flew to Broome. In Chinatown, teams had to feed each other using which of these?

Answer: Chopsticks

Late at night, teams embarked on what would be the final leg of their race, opening their clues in Perth and heading to the airport to fly to the Gateway to the Kimberleys, Broome. Racing more than seventeen hundred kilometres, they landed where the Outback meets the ocean and hopped into waiting vehicles to take themselves to the Sun Picture Gardens in Broome's Chinatown community.

There, teams would take seats for a meal of sweet and sour pork but there would obviously be a catch. Team members would have to feed the dishes to each other, but this had to be done with 2.4m long chopsticks and collected at a certain height. Eating both portions would allow them to get their next clue.
12. There were two Road Blocks in the race's final leg. In the first of these, teams had to find which of these inside an oyster?

Answer: Pearl

Racing out from Chinatown, teams located a Road Block clue that had them engage with local industry. Choosing the team member that was 'ready to come out of their shell' (Toni, Angel, and Kelly), racers had to drive themselves to Waterbank and locate the Willie Creek Pearl Farm. There, the selected team member had to peg oysters, heading out to sea to collect a panel of oysters from the pearling boat, submerge them in water back at shore, then be quick to insert metal tongs and a peg into them to hand them off to a pearler. If their oysters contained a pearl, they would get their next clue.

After this Road Block, teams remained at Willie Creek to complete a task on the beach. While one team member headed into the sky in a helicopter, their teammate had to remain on the shore, spelling out the word 'GUJUGUJU' (Yawuru for 'dust storm') in the sand. If their teammate could read it within three minutes and communicate it to their pilot they'd keep racing, otherwise they would have to start over.
13. The final Road Block of the race had team members digging through the sand, searching for a mother-of-pearl button in which of these?

Answer: Sandcastles

Leaving Waterbank, teams had to head back towards Broome and locate a marked area of the mangrove swamps to start their next task. For this, they located twenty snails in the wetlands, brought them back to the fire, cooked one each, and ate them to receive their next clue-- a Road Block.

For their last Road Block, teams had to drive to the Mantra Frangipani Hotel to pick up a bucket and spade. Then, heading to Simpsons Beach, the team member chosen as 'the king of the castle' needed to head out to the sand and search amongst two hundred sandcastles for a single red-and-yellow button that they could trade for their clue. Frankie, Heath, and Kelly completed this last Road Block task.
14. Teams' memory challenge for this season, held at the end of Leg 21, involved remembering which of the following?

Answer: Landmarks

The last task teams encountered on the race was a memory challenge, and it was one that forced teams to reflect on the past twenty legs of the competition. Making their way to Gantheaume Point, teams were required to recall the destinations that they visited on the race that were situated near clock towers, many of which were indicated in their clues. Taking note of Chefchaouen, Arachova, Izmir, Belize City, Mérida, and Fremantle, all of which had Pit Starts at clock towers, they had to put six replicas in the proper order. If they got it right, their judge would give them six clock faces with times for each, indicating the hour that they departed from that destination. If they put them into the correct order, they could get a code to unlock the padlocks on a chest containing their final clue.
15. Which team won "The Amazing Race Australia"?

Answer: Heath and Toni

Once teams unlocked their chests at the clock tower task, they could open it up and locate their last clue envelope and this one directed them to run on foot to the finish line-- their final Pit Stop. Leaving the lighthouse at Gantheaume Point, they could locate the marked path nearby and race on foot to the Finish Line at the edge of Cable Beach.

After twenty-one legs of the race, Heath and Toni pulled ahead at the last Road Block and claimed the victory by stepping on the mat first. They became the winners of $250,000 AUD, two brand-new Isuzu vehicles (an Isuzu D-MAX and an Isuzu MU-X), and the title as winners of "The Amazing Race Australia" (making Toni the first-ever female winner of the race after six seasons). The pair were followed by Angel and Frankie in second place and Kelly and Georgia in third.
