Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This tenth season of "The Amazing Race Canada" saw teams embark on the competition in Niagara Falls. How many teams started the race?

Answer: Eleven

After more than ten years of racing around Canada and around the globe, "The Amazing Race Canada 10" started teams off where the races all began, Niagara Falls in Southern Ontario. From the Oakes Garden Theatre overlooking Horseshoe Falls, eleven teams were given the go to embark on a race around Canada for $250,000 CAD and assorted prizes.

Their first clue, waiting on their backpacks, was the first Road Block of the race.
2. Racers' first Road Block has team members rappelling down which of these?

Answer: Niagara Falls

Racers opened their first clue for a first Road Block prompt: 'Who's down to go first?' And with that, teams needed to proceed, on foot, to Table Rock Centre next to the Horseshoe Falls, harness up, and rappel one hundred eighty feet along the raging waters of the Canadian side of Niagara. Racers could obtain their clue from the cliff wall and return to their partners upon completion. Lauren, Trystenne, Sam, Julia, Gurleen, John, Taylor, Amari, Tyson, Colin, and Dorothy elected to complete this task.
3. Which Detour task, found on Clifton Hill in Leg 1, was completed by more teams?

Answer: 'Game Time'

Completing the Road Block, teams ripped open their clues to find their first Detour, a choice between 'Game Time' and 'Show Time', both of which sent teams onto Clifton Hill. In 'Game Time', racers visited the Great Canadian Midway to play on the race-flag-marked arcade games. To get their clue, racers needed to accumulate four hundred tickets to trade them in at the prize desk for a clue envelope.

In 'Show Time', racers, instead, had to perform for tourists, reciting a script about Niagara Falls and performing with provided props to get their next clue.
4. Which team located the Desjardins Assist in Niagara Falls, skipping a component of a task?

Answer: Connor and John

Finishing their Detour, racers proceeded on foot to Nightmares Fear Factory on Clifton Hill for a new clue. In this task, racers had to head through the haunted house and, at the end, draw a colour combination to memorize. With this combination of ten colours, racers then had to proceed to the Illumination Tower next to the Falls and light up Niagara with the proper sequence of coloured lights to get their final clue for the leg.

Arriving at Nightmares Fear Factory, one team ended up receiving a Desjardins Assist, at random, allowing them to skip the colour memorization portion of the task. This was found by Connor and John.
5. Which team was last to hit the Pit Stop mat at the end of Leg 1, ending up eliminated in Niagara Falls?

Answer: Eva and Trystenne

Once teams lit up the falls they were able to make their way, by any means, to the Niagara Parks Power Station. There, they could wait for an elevator and proceed down into the two thousand and two hundred foot tunnel in the cliffside and race on foot to the first Pit Stop on an observation platform looking out at Horseshoe Falls where they would be quizzed about the ride they just took. Kevin and Gurleen arrived at the mat in first place, answering their tour question and winning a $10,000 CAD prize as well as a trip for two to India courtesy of Expedia.

After flipping Detours, Eva and Trystenne were unable to keep up with the other teams and landed on the mat in eleventh place (resulting in their elimination).
6. Teams departed from Niagara Falls, Ontario in Leg 2 and boarded flights bound for B.C. What city did they need to stop off in?

Answer: Vancouver

Racers took off from a spot adjacent to the Horseshoe Falls at the start of Leg 2 and needed to make their way by bus from Niagara to Pearson International Airport in Toronto. From there, they needed to catch a flight to take them to Vancouver, B.C., and from there they had to find their way to Seair Seaplane, booking one of five charter planes to Sechelt on the Lower Sunshine Coast. They could find their next clue on a truck waiting at their landing site.

From there, teams drove themselves to Half Moon Kayaks where they needed to paddle out into the nearby inlet, capsize their kayak, and perform a self-rescue.
7. How many Express Passes were available for teams to collect in Leg 2?

Answer: Three

Once teams landed in Vancouver they could either head directly to the seaplane terminal or they could proceed to Second Beach in Stanley Park for a chance at a long-term advantage. There, on the water's edge, they could pull on one of the ropes out in the ocean and haul it out to the shore to collect an Express Pass.

In doing so, Michael and Tyson collected two Express Passes (one for themselves and one to give away by the end of the fourth leg) while Michael and Amari claimed the third, allowing them to skip a task of their choice until a certain leg.
8. Racers completing the 'Mallet Fest' Detour option in Leg 2 (in the Sunshine Coast) played which instrument?

Answer: Marimba

Completing their kayaking challenge, racers had to drive into the town of Gibson to choose between two tasks in a Detour, and this meant selecting either 'Palate Test' or 'Mallet Fest'.

'Palate Test' sent racers to the Sunshine Coast Olive Oil Co. where they had to identify ten olive oils and balsamic vinegars by taste while 'Mallet Fest', brought teams to the Gibsons Public Market to learn a song on the marimba as played alongside the Knotty Dotters.

'Palate Test' was completed by Lauren and Nicole, Taylor and Katie, Brad and Sam, Connor and Jon, Colin and Matt, Michael and Tyson, Michael and Amari, and Kevin and Gurleen while 'Mallet Fest' was done by Julia and Olivia and Dorothy and Olus.
9. Racers participating in the Road Block in Roberts Creek, B.C. in Leg 2 had to ride which of these?

Answer: A hobby horse

After finishing their Detours, racers had to hop back into their Chevrolet vehicles and proceed along the coast to Roberts Creek, B.C. to find Mise-En-Place Equestrian and their final task for the leg-- the Road Block. This time, teams had to choose a team member who 'can hold their horses', and that racer had to perform an equestrian course on a hobby horse, memorizing a complicated course with all proper movements and order.

Nicole, Katie, Brad, Tyson, John, Matt, Olivia, Olus, Kevin, and Michael were selected for this task.

Colin and Matt, who ripped open their clue to find the Desjardins Assist, were able to finish the task with a simpler series of movements.
10. At the end of Leg 2 (on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast), which team was eliminated?

Answer: Dorothy and Olus

The only item given to teams leaving the Road Block was a photo of the Roberts Creek shíshálh Nation mandala which they could find at the start of the Roberts Creek Pier, their second Pit Stop of the race. Checking in there with Jon, they would be given a placement or, at worst, risk elimination. Michael and Tyson, who managed to collect the double Express Pass and board a later seaplane, jetted ahead at the Road Block and won first place, winning an Expedia trip for two to Dubai and $10,000 CAD.

It was Dorothy and Olus who were unable to keep up with the rest of the crowd, and when they landed on the mat they were eliminated in tenth place.
