Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams started Leg 3 by mixing soils in Sechelt, British Columbia. Completing this meant they could take the ferry to what B.C. city?

Answer: Vancouver

Leaving The Oceanside, a Coast Hotel, in Sechelt, British Columbia, nine teams headed out on an unexpected double-leg experience across the westernmost province, hopping into their vehicles and driving to the nearby Salish Soils. Here, teams needed to get to work mixing a specific blend of different soils, taking the compost to a community farm a kilometer away. If they could mix and fill 160 kilograms worth of soil into bags at their destination, they could get their next clue. Doing this would send them to the nearby ferry terminal bound for West Vancouver.
2. Which team collected the Assist at the Granville Island Public Market in Leg 3?

Answer: Lauren and Nicole

Racers disembarked from the ferry in West Vancouver and drove themselves, per their clues, to the Granville Island Public Market to locate their next clue box. Here, racers had to go shopping, collecting six cooking ingredients from vendors in the market that they would subsequently need to deliver to six different restaurants in Vancouver. Amongst the clues here, Lauren and Nicole located the Assist (from Desjardins) for this leg. For this, they only needed to buy for and complete four deliveries.
3. At Parker Place in Leg 3, racers sorted through which of these, part of a local pastime?

Answer: Mahjong tiles

Racers had to head out from Granville Island and locate Parker Place in Richmond, B.C. to make another stop. Here, racers joined local gamers by receiving mahjong tiles and, to get their next clue, they needed to sort them into their natural groupings. Only when they made sense of the chaos and organized them to create a set of forty-two selected tiles (sorting by suit, direction, and numerical order), they would be able to head into the building to locate their next clue box.
4. In Leg 3, racers encountered a U-Turn Vote that would affect their Detour in the proceeding leg. Which team did the other racers vote to complete both sides of said Detour?

Answer: Kevin and Gurleen

Finishing the mahjong task, teams headed into Parker Place to locate the clue box and the U-Turn Vote board, where they, mandatorily, needed to place their votes for who would have to complete both sides of the proceeding Detour. Though teams did not know that the next Detour would be held in the proceeding leg, the votes would be ready for the reveal on the proceeding day. Additionally, the first team to reach the U-Turn Vote would have the opportunity to place two votes. This was a privilege won by Colin and Matt.

When the votes were tallied, Kevin and Gurleen received the most, seven votes, to three for Lauren and Nicole.
5. Between Legs 3 and 4, teams had to travel to which of these (in Penticton)?

Answer: A steamboat

As a de facto end to Leg 3, racers needed to head to the Signature main terminal at Vancouver Airport to catch a charter flight to the city of Penticton in Okanagan Valley. Once there, racers could drive themselves to the SS Sicamous, docked in Okanagan Lake to effectively end their third leg. That morning, they would depart with knowledge of who was U-Turned and kick off a series of tasks in Leg 4. Colin and Matt, who reached the U-Turn board first, were rewarded with a trip for two to Madagascar courtesy of Travelocity and an additional $10,000 CAD to spend.
6. Racers completed an obstacle course Road Block at the start of Leg 4. How many obstacles did they need to overcome in their Chevrolet vehicles?

Answer: Three

After starting the day at the SS Sicamous, racers gathered on the beaches of Okanagan Lake and were told that Kevin and Gurleen were the recipients of the U-Turn Vote and that they would be able to U-Turn another team in kind. With that, racers opened their next clue at the same time and drove themselves to the Area 27 Motorsports Park in the nearby town of Oliver, encountering a Road Block when they arrived there. For this task, one racer had to off-road in a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison, completing three vehicle obstacle courses to get their next clue. Kevin, Connor, Michael, Olivia, Lauren, Sam, Michael, Katie, and Matt completed this task.
7. Which team obtained the Desjardins Assist at the book shop visited in Leg 4?

Answer: Lauren and Nicole

Finishing their off-roading adventure, racers had to drive themselves back into the city of Penticton to find a local business known only as The Book Shop. There, opening their clue box out front they were told that they would have to search around the shelves inside to find a special edition "Amazing Race Canada" photo book amongst the stacks containing their next clue.

The Desjardins Assist was found in one of the clues in the box out front, allowing Lauren and Nicole (who claimed it) to avoid needing to look through the store.
8. How many teams were forced to complete both sides of the Detour in Leg 4 (in Summerland)?

Answer: Two

Racers had to visit the Dirty Laundry Vineyard in Summerland, B.C. for their Detour and had to choose, in most cases, between 'Press' and 'Undress'. In 'Undress', racers needed to put out the laundry, hanging a clothesline and properly pinning underwear provided in the correct order by size, colour, and position to match a provided line located across the vineyard.

In 'Press', however, teams had to stomp grapes to make wine, squishing enough to make 1.5L of juice. Because they were U-Turned, both Kevin and Gurleen and Julia and Olivia had to do both sides of the Detour here.
9. In Osoyoos, B.C., racers had to memorize indigenous words for which of these?

Answer: Animals

Racers completed the Detour and drove themselves eighty kilometres to the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre in Osoyoos for one more Road Block in this leg. For this task, the racer who did not complete the off-road Road Block needed to learn and memorize six specific animal names provided to them in the Nk'Mip language.

Then, that team member had to head to the archery range and, with someone speaking the animal names, they had to shoot arrows, hitting four of them, to get their next clue.
10. Which team was eliminated in the Okanagan Valley in the end of Leg 4?

Answer: Connor and John

Racing out from the second Road Block in Leg 4, racers had to locate and drive themselves to the next Pit Stop on the grounds of the Phantom Creek Estates in Oliver, B.C. There, Michael and Tyson managed to land on the mat first, scoring themselves their second win, a $10,000 CAD prize, and a trip for two to Vietnam courtesy of Expedia.

Although some teams faced the dreaded U-Turn, it was Connor and John, trailing for both Legs 3 and 4, who checked into the Pit Stop and last. The pair were eliminated in ninth place overall.
