Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What word does Sheldon invent to describe Mandy?

Answer: Niblingo

Mandy is the girlfriend of Sheldon's brother, Georgie. She had not married Georgie yet, so she was not Sheldon's sister-in-law just yet. However, she was carrying Georgie's baby, so Sheldon knew she was basically part of the family now even though it was unofficial. The word he invented to describe her was "Niblingo." Mary thinks it is rude, but Mandy likes it.
2. Who almost dies in "Passion's Harvest and a Sheldocracy?"

Answer: Georgie

Mandy was evicted from her apartment for failure to pay her rent and utilities. She had to return her key to the landlord, who locked up the place very well. Some of her possessions were still in the apartment. Georgie decides to break into her apartment through the window to retrieve her possessions.

He accidentally breaks into the wrong apartment. The tenant has his gun ready and is prepared to shoot him. When Georgie explains the situation, it turns out that the man is actually good friends with Mandy and she'd told him about Georgie. Realizing that he saw a padlock on Mandy's door, the man puts the pieces together and realizes that Georgie is telling the truth, so he lets him go.
3. "Passion's Harvest and a Sheldocracy" is the first time we see Sheldon in Dr. Sturgis's class since season three, when Dr. Sturgis booted him from the class in one episode but they made amends in the next one.

Answer: True

In "An Academic Crime and a More Romantic Taco Bell," Dr. Sturgis booted Sheldon from his class because Sheldon accused him of plagiarism because he refused to list Sheldon as a co-author of his paper. (Dr. Sturgis felt that Sheldon's help wasn't enough to be credited that way.) Sheldon spends almost the entirety of the next episode, "A Couple Bruised Ribs and a Cereal Box Ghost Detector," angry about this, but in the end, he and Dr. Sturgis make amends. However, it isn't until two and a half years after the "Academic Crime..." episode that we see Sheldon in Dr. Sturgis's class again.

This time, it's an ethics class. Dr. Sturgis tries to convince Sheldon that there's no right or wrong answer to anything in ethics class. Sheldon has a difficult time accepting this. In the end, when Sheldon gives his presentation in class, he attempts to form an autocracy that he calls a "Sheldocracy," in which only the smartest people should make all the decisions. He then tries to take over the class, which upsets Dr. Sturgis. We don't see Dr. Sturgis boot Sheldon from the class a second time, but we also don't see Sheldon in Dr. Sturgis's class again, so it's up to you to decide whether or not that happens.
4. Which character makes his or her first appearance of season six in the fourth episode of the season, and then does not appear again until the 14th episode of the season?

Answer: Billy

Wyatt McClure (the actor who does Billy) was promoted to the main cast between season four and season five. Logically, that would make a person conclude that we were going to see more of him from that point on. Actually, we saw less of him from that point on. That was strange.

In "Blonde Ambition and the Concept of Zero," Sheldon is asked to tutor Billy in math so he can pass the sixth grade. Billy asks Sheldon how zero can exist and be nothing at the same time. Sheldon cannot answer that. He goes to Dr. Sturgis for help, but he cannot answer it either. Dr. Sturgis goes to Dr. Linkletter for help, but he cannot help them either. Three geniuses were completely confused by a dilemma that a struggling middle school student presented to them. In the end, Billy suggests that they just pretend that "Zero" exists, so Sheldon and Billy pray to "Zero" like Christians pray to God. The good news is that Billy passed his math test and passed to seventh grade. The bad news is, he remained in 7th grade for several years.

Billy does not appear again until ten episodes later, in "A Launch Party and a Whole Human Being," the episode where Mandy goes into labor. George, Mary, and Mee Maw were all at work when that started, so Sheldon had to ask the nearest adult in the neighborhood for help and that was Billy's mother. She drove Mandy to the hospital and called Georgie, his parents, and Mandy's parents, so they were all at the hospital for Mandy's birth. Because of this, there was no one to pick up Missy and Billy from school, so they walked home together.
5. A recurring theme from season three through season five was that this character had a seemingly perfect marriage. That changes drastically in season six. Who is he?

Answer: Wayne

Wayne is the P.E. teacher at the high school. He was the assistant coach of the football team for almost the entirety of the first five seasons while George was the head coach. In season five, the boosters (the parents of the kids on the team/the men who give money to the team) get tired of all the losing seasons that the football team has, so George gets fired and Wayne gets promoted to head coach. Wayne is George's best friend. In seasons three through five, Wayne would often brag about his marriage to George, and then he'd give George some marital advice. Plus, though he had no kids of his own, Wayne would also give parenting advice to George. Wayne's advice was usually great advice and it would mend George's marriage and his relationship with his kids.

In "An Ugly Car, an Affair and Some Kickass Football," we learn that Wayne's wife cheated on him and got pregnant. George and the principal find Wayne in a motel, where he is in such bad shape that they fear he will kill himself. George invites him to sleep on the couch in his home. Because Wayne was too emotionally damaged to return to work, the principal gives George his job back. George accepts on the condition that Wayne can still be the assistant coach. At the end of the episode, George coaches the team to victory and puts mud on the principal's clothes as revenge for firing him.
6. Which character makes his third and final appearance in the episode "A Tough Nut and a Note on File"?

Answer: Nathan

In this episode, Sheldon gets upset that Missy sells a rare comic book to someone else. Sheldon happens to know someone who has almost every comic book and Star Trek episode ever. That would be Nathan. He calls Nathan to ask if he can trade something for the comic book. Sheldon then gets the idea for an online database for comic books. He then gets the permission of the owner of the store to count all the inventory in the store for the database at night when the store is closed. The boss makes Missy help him with this and Sheldon invites Nathan to help, too. Sheldon then realizes that his database idea could be used to help connect grantors and grantees in the scientific community. He abandons the comic idea and leaves the store and Missy, who didn't want to be there in the first place, leaves with him. Nathan is left alone in the store and he says he's going to steal everything in the store.

We previously saw Nathan in season three, when he shows Sheldon the "Star Trek" episode that Georgie taped over, and in season five, when they go to a comic convention together. The actor, Steve Burns, is the author of "Mighty Little Man," the show's theme song.
7. Who funds Sheldon's database idea?

Answer: Gary

President Hagemeyer, Dr. Linkletter, and the parents get into a feud over who gets to fund Sheldon's database idea. They all meet with him privately and they all manipulate him in various ways. In each of these private meetings, he told them all that he was choosing them.

This leads to a big problem when they and all of their lawyers meet up to discuss this, as they all think Sheldon is on their side. Sheldon realizes his mistake and he is angry that they all only care about the money and not the science, so he rejects all of them and decides to hire a private investor.

Initially, no private investor will meet up with him because of his age, so he gets Dr. Sturgis to help with the project. After that, they tell him that they will only fund the project if he drops out of college and works on it full-time.

His parents don't allow this. Then, Sheldon remembers Gary, the eccentric billionaire investor whom Sheldon met in season four and who gave the university a ton of money because he appreciated Sheldon's honesty. Gary agrees to fund the project.
8. Who is invited to work with the football team in "College Dropouts and the Medford Miracle"?

Answer: Pastor Rob

Wayne invites Pastor Rob to pray for the team without telling George (apparently Wayne forgot that he is no longer the head coach and George was re-hired to be that). The team wins, but everyone gives credit to Pastor Rob and God, which upsets George.

It also turns out that Pastor Rob was invited to talk with the players during football practice. Pastor Rob was giving great advice and all the players love him and they don't love George. Pastor Rob meets up with George privately to tell him that some of the players don't like George's hard coaching and advises him to be nicer and less strict with them.

This makes George even more mad. At the end of their next game, when George was going to tell the team to kick a game-tying field goal at the end to send it to overtime, Pastor Rob suggests that they do a fake field goal to catch the opponent off guard and win in regulation. Wayne tells him that this is unlikely to work. George takes Pastor Rob's advice, hoping that it fails and that Pastor Rob will never be invited to be with the team again.

It works, which makes everybody extremely happy except George.
9. What happens at the end of "Ruthless, Toothless, and a Week of Bed Rest"?

Answer: Sheldon causes a power outage

Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis learn that President Hagemeyer and Dr. Linkletter have decided to make their own database, hoping to launch their database before Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis launch theirs. This leads to an episode-long war between team Sheldon/Sturgis and team Hagemeyer/Linkletter, ending in Sheldon getting a mainframe in his room. President Hagemeyer shows up to tell Sheldon that this is not allowed, but Sheldon tells her that there's nothing in the rules that says that and Dr. Sturgis tells her that she's just trying to sabotage their project.

Sheldon plugs it in, which causes a power outage in the entire university and the entire neighborhood.
10. Who is Mandy's brother?

Answer: Connor

Connor appears in only one episode of "Young Sheldon." Jim tells George that Connor is "From another planet." George thinks this means that Connor is just like Sheldon. Jim thinks that must mean that Sheldon is doing horribly in school and probably not going to be a successful adult (because that's what Jim thinks of Connor). George tells Jim the truth about Sheldon's academic career, and then he feels guilty that he may have inadvertently embarrassed Jim. Actually, I think both sides are correct. Sheldon and Connor are polar opposites academically, yet they are similar people socially.

Connor only appears at the baby shower. He's not at the hospital when the baby is born, he's not at the wedding, he's not at George's funeral... he is never seen again on "Young Sheldon" no matter what major event happens that seemingly should include him.

He appears in "Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage" but it's a different actor.
11. What is the baby's name?

Answer: Constance

Georgie and Mandy name the baby after Mee Maw's real name because she had allowed Mandy to live in her home and she took care of Mandy for most of the pregnancy while Mandy's parents abandoned her for almost the entire pregnancy. This thrills Mee Maw. Audrey, who seems to be jealous of this, asks if there is a middle name. Apparently, Audrey failed to realize that abandoning her daughter for most of the pregnancy was not the way to get her granddaughter named after her.

In later episodes, she is usually called "C.C.," which is short for "Constance Cooper."
12. Who appears in two episodes of season six?

Answer: Paige

Paige is a child genius who is more academically advanced than Sheldon. She does not enjoy being a genius because she wants to have more friends than she has, as opposed to Sheldon who enjoys being a genius and doesn't really want friends. She has dropped out of college and now all she does is go to parties and get drunk. She attends a party that happens to be right next door to Sheldon's room. Sheldon went there to complain about the noise, but then he sees Paige there and realizes that he has to take care of her and keep her away from the boys there who have no idea how old she really is. Paige proves to be difficult to take care of and she drags Sheldon to another party, where Missy is. Sheldon tells Missy that Paige is there and he needs Missy's help to take care of her. Missy then sees Paige walking away with a much older guy. Missy tells the guy that Paige is way too young and he walks away. They allow Paige to spend the night in on Sheldon's bed at the university.

In a later episode, Missy steals her father's truck and invites Paige to join her as they drive away from home, planning to start a new life in Florida. Back at home, the family doesn't notice that she is gone until George notices that his truck is gone. George calls the police to report that his truck was stolen. Missy and Paige get caught and Missy confesses everything, but the cop is a nice cop and she doesn't take them to jail. Instead, she returns them to their parents.
13. In "Teen Angst and a Smart-Boy Walk of Shame," who are the only people that successfully calm down the baby?

Answer: Sheldon and Mary

Georgie, Mandy, and Mee Maw try to calm the baby down, but with no success. Mary calls herself "Nana," which means "Grandma" (fun fact: the author of this quiz and his siblings were also told to call their grandmother "Nana") and calms the baby down. When the other three ask how she did it, she responds "Nana magic." Later in the episode, Sheldon calms the baby down by singing "Soft Kitty." Mandy tries this, but she fails to remember the words.
14. Where does Sheldon go at the end of season six?

Answer: Germany

In two episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" ("The Pancake Batter Anomaly" and "The Sibling Realignment"), it was mentioned that Sheldon went to Germany when he was a teenager. So, this happened on Young Sheldon. It all starts when Sheldon meets up with his classmate, Sam. He learns that Sam got into Columbia University. Sheldon gets jealous of her because of this, so he wants to go there too or at least go to an equally prestigious university next year. It was too late for him to apply to go to any such university next year. This makes Sheldon upset for most of the episode. Dr. Sturgis then tells Sheldon about an opportunity to spend the summer at a university in Germany.

Sheldon spends the last few episodes of season six learning the German language and culture and getting his body adjusted to the time zone difference. He fails to raise money on his own to pay for the trip, but then Dr. Linkletter and Pastor Jeff show up at his house providing plenty of money to cover the trip.

Mary goes with him and in the final episode of the season, they are both on the airplane to Germany while the rest of the family is dealing with a tornado in Texas.
15. Whose house is the only house that gets destroyed by the tornado?

Answer: Mee Maw

The studio where this was being filmed was undergoing renovations. As a result, certain sets were going to be destroyed, including Mee Maw's house. The writers had to come up with an in-universe reason for her house to be destroyed, and since the show takes place in Texas where there are a lot of tornados, that's what they chose to go with.

Pastor Jeff had found out about the gambling room earlier in the episode. Mee Maw had been trying to hide it from him, afraid that he'd try to get it shut down like he tried (and almost succeeded) to get the video store shut down. Pastor Jeff tells her that he won't do anything about the gambling room because she's suffered enough and he helps her look for the money from that room that she'd been hiding in that house.
