Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When the player starts the game, there is no active formal Elden Lord. There have been at least two before the events in this game that we know of. Who is one of them?

Answer: Dragonlord Placidusax

According to lore, Placidusax was once Elden Lord in a time far before the events of the game. The player can encounter him as a boss fight, essentially after using Crumbling Farum Azula to go back in time to meet Placidusax.

The other former Elden Lord we learn of would be Godfrey, AKA Hoarah Loux.
2. For many players, Godrick is the first Demi-God encountered. He is known as "Godrick the Grafted." What exactly does it mean to 'graft'?

Answer: Attach body parts of a different being to something else

Essentially, the idea is to take the strongest, most combat ready body parts of a series of beings, and shove them together, often making a hideous amalgamation of random creatures seemingly thrown together with little thought. One of Godrick's most known creations, the Grafted Scion, is a twisted creature with seven arms, a skeleton head and the legs of a spider who wields six swords and a greatshield.
3. Per the game's lore, Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, was once happily married, in her prime as undeniably the strongest sorcerer in all of the Lands Between. However, her husband would leave her, sending her into a state of mental disarray that robbed her of her capabilities greatly. Who is Rennala's ex husband?

Answer: Radagon of the Golden Order

It is said in the game's lore that Radagon left Rennala to become husband to Queen Marika the Eternal. Radagon and Marika bore children who, by association with Marika, became Demi-Gods.
4. Because Rennala never bore the children of a God, she is the only character in the entire game that has a Great Rune yet is not a God or Demi-God. How did Rennala get her Great Rune?

Answer: It was given to her

Before officially parting ways, Radagon bestowed upon Rennala the Great Rune of the Reborn. Rennala quickly became obsessed with the Great Rune and, combined with the departure of her husband, this was the catalyst for Rennala's mental state deteriorating rapidly.
5. Malekith the Black Blade is one of the most powerful entities in the entire game. So powerful, in fact, that one of the Demi-Gods was given a particular weapon specifically in case Malekith ever got out of hand, allowing this Demi-God to have a chance to put him down if it ever came to it. Which Demi-God was at one point in possession of the Blasphemous Claw?

Answer: Rykard

The claw was given to Rykard by Lunar Princess Ranni. As such, per the game's lore, Rykard would be the only Demi-God capable of challenging Malekith should the need arise. He would end up giving the item up in the process of forging an alliance with the God-Devouring Serpent and essentially renouncing his family name.

In the hands of the player, the Blasphemous Claw allows them to parry a few or Malekith's attacks, making the fight significantly easier.
6. Starscourge Radahn is both fearsome and graceful with his dual greatswords, striking fear into those who approach him close. However, as the player will quickly find, Radahn has a limited but powerful arsenal of Gravity Magic. Per the game's lore, why did Radahn learn how to use Gravity Magic?

Answer: So he could keep using his horse

Radahn is a massive man standing at approximately 27 feet tall. Underneath him is a modest, humble horse that's about the size of an average horse. Radahn's horse would easily get crushed to death immediately due to how simply massive he is. In order to not kill his horse but be able to still use it, Radahn learned Gravity Magic so he could make himself entirely weightless, easy for his horse to ride around.

The particular wording of the game's lore largely implies that Radahn has sentimental feelings towards the horse.
7. Right before fighting Morgott the Omen King, he will examine the throne chairs of many of the game's Demi-Gods, and he will label those he names as "willful traitors." Who is the one Demi-God Morgott does not talk down to like this?

Answer: Mohg, Lord of Blood

Despite definitely being a Demi-God, Mohg is not mentioned by Morgott during this scene. There are a few reasons this is likely the case. One, unlike the others, Mohg did not abandon Morgott during the Shattering. Both of them are Omens, were initially locked away in the Leyndell sewer, and it's possible if not likely that Morgott and Mohg were forced to work together to escape alive. During this time, perhaps they didn't become best friends, but it's easy to see why Morgott would harbor less resentment for Mohg after sharing this experience. Notably, Mohg was also not present during the War of the Shattering, meaning he was not responsible for the shattering of the Elden Ring nor the eventual exodus of Leyndell like the other Demi-Gods were.

As such, Morgott has no real reason to particularly despise Mohg, and may even be on entirely good terms with him.
8. Notably, the Fire Giant boss is the very last fire giant alive, per the game's lore. Why is this one still alive?

Answer: He was cursed with immortality

When Queen Marika the Eternal's forces failed to completely destroy the Fire Giants, she cursed one of them with the eternal task of guarding the Forge of the Giants. As such, Fire Giant cannot die of natural causes, but he is also compelled to remain close to the forge for the rest of eternity, or at least until the player appears to, presumably, put him out of his misery.
9. Malekith the Black Blade is hyped in the game's lore as being extremely powerful, so much so that even the game's Demi-Gods fear him. Which of the following is Malekith, and Malekith exclusively, capable of?

Answer: Permanently killing a Demi-God

If anyone or anything other than Malekith kills a Demi-God, their essence simply returns to the Erdtree, to one day in the very distant future eventually cause the Demi-God to return. If Malekith kills them, however, it's curtains for good. The reason for this is that Malekith is in possession of the Rune of Death, the one thing allowing him to permanently kill someone.
10. Notably, Godfrey the First Elden Lord has a large spectral lion grafted to his shoulder. The game's only other notable character to graft is Godrick, who grafts a dragon to his fist to become much stronger. Why does Godfrey graft a lion to his shoulder?

Answer: To keep his bloodlust in check

When the player fights Godfrey and pushes him to the brink, he will un-graft the lion named Serosh. This removes the self imposed limit to Godfrey's power, causing him to be much more aggressive, energetic and simply brutal. It is a fascinating juxtaposition, one character who grafts to become stronger, the other grafting to intentionally make himself weaker.
