The Honeyhive Galaxy, Ghostly Galaxy, Dusty Dune Galaxy, Matter Splatter Galaxy, and Good Egg Galaxy all appear in the first "Super Mario Galaxy" game, and none of the Galaxies there make a return in this one, even if they sound similar to others (Honeyhive sounds like Honeybloom and Honeyhop, for instance, both of which are in the sequel). Good Egg Galaxy, though it sounds Yoshi-related, appears near the start of the first game.

The Super Mario 2 Galaxy, Magical Mystery Galaxy, and Milky Way Galaxy don't exist in the games at all and are, unabashedly, made-up.
