Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the Luma mechanic who built the Starship Mario?

Answer: Lubba

Acting in much the same way Rosalina did in "Super Mario Galaxy", Lubba is the leader of the Lumas and the creature responsible for creating the Starship Mario. His ship was destroyed by Bowser, and the Lumas on board were scattered across space, so he enlists the help of Mario to return the Power Stars. Unlike most Lumas, Lubba is much larger, and appears to wear a pair of trousers.
2. Peewee Piranha appears in which galaxy?

Answer: Sky Station Galaxy

Intended as a tutorial galaxy, like the Gateway and Good Egg Galaxies from the previous game, Sky Station Galaxy is where the mechanics of the game are introduced. Peewee Piranha is the boss at the end of the first star mission, Peewee Piranha's Temper Tantrum.

The second star mission is Storming the Sky Fleet. Both of these star missions have different themes, the former being an altered version of the music heard in most of the teaser trailers for the game.
3. Which galaxy in World 2 features a remake of the Athletic theme from "Super Mario World"?

Answer: Hightail Falls Galaxy

The Dash Pepper makes its first appearance in the Hightail Falls Galaxy, which is accompanied by a familiar tune - the Athletic theme from "Super Mario World". When Yoshi eats a Dash Pepper, he turns red and runs extremely fast, allowing him to scale steep slopes and even run along walls and vertical platforms. Control is everything when scaling slopes, as one collision can cause Yoshi to lose speed and fall back down to the bottom.
4. In which World 3 galaxy will you "Step to the Beep"?

Answer: Beat Block Galaxy

Another familiar piece of music appears in "Super Mario Galaxy 2", this time in the form of the Underground (or World 1-2) theme from "Super Mario Bros.". In the Beat Block Galaxy, a series of appearing and disappearing blocks serve as platforms to advance towards the Power Star.

The blocks will change in time with the music - three beeps will warn you that the blocks are about to change, so timing is crucial to progressing through the galaxy.
5. Which galaxy marks the return of Piantas from "Super Mario Sunshine"?

Answer: Starshine Beach Galaxy

Taking elements from Mario's GameCube adventure, Starshine Beach Galaxy features Piantas, Yoshi, the Pianta statue from Delfino Square, the underwater palace found in Noki Bay, and the Gelato Beach tower, to name a few. One of the star missions in this galaxy requires collecting Silver Stars, a mechanic that first appeared in "Super Mario 64 DS", and again in "Super Mario Galaxy".

The Dash Pepper and Blimp Berry also appear here for Yoshi's use.
6. Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker is found in World 3.

Answer: False

Bowser Jr. returns to help his father take over the universe, and commands three of the six boss galaxies in the game - the Fiery Flotilla (World 1), the Fearsome Fleet (World 3) and the Boom Bunker (World 5). Bowser is fought in his Lava Lair (World 2), Gravity Gauntlet (World 4) and Galaxy Generator (World 6). Like the previous game, Bowser Jr. isn't fought directly, but rather by way of a much larger monster or machine.
7. World 6's Throwback Galaxy pays homage to which memorable course from "Super Mario 64"?

Answer: Whomp's Fortress

Yet more nostalgia, as Whomp's Fortress returns from "Super Mario 64" in the form of the Throwback Galaxy. The level is more or less unchanged, with the addition of starbits and new enemies. An orchestrated version of the theme from "Super Mario 64" serves as the background music for this level, which really brings back memories of Mario's first 3D adventure.
8. Which of these galaxies contains an almost identical planet to that in the Toy Time Galaxy from "Super Mario Galaxy"?

Answer: Mario Squared Galaxy

In "Super Mario Galaxy"'s Toy Time Galaxy, the Purple Comet spawned 150 Purple Coins on the 8-bit Mario planet, and stood as one of the toughest challenges in the game. In "Super Mario Galaxy 2", an 8-bit Mario that looks practically the same as the one before makes its appearance in the Mario Squared Galaxy, found in World S. World S is unlocked after defeating Bowser for the last time at his Galaxy Generator.
9. What colour is Player 2's Luma when the cooperative mode is activated?

Answer: Orange

The cooperative play feature returns in this game, but with a slightly different approach. Whilst still maintaining the basic feature of being able to collect starbits, shoot them, and immobilise enemies, Player 2's star pointer has been replaced by an orange Luma, who can collect coins, air bubbles and even attack enemies in certain situations.

As before, Player 2 only requires a Wii Remote to play - the Nunchuk is not needed.
10. What feature from "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" appears in this game?

Answer: Checkpoint Flag

The checkpoint flag in "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" can be found in almost every galaxy, usually at the start of new planets. Should Mario lose a life, he can continue the star mission from the last checkpoint flag he touched, instead of having to restart the entire mission from the beginning. Due to "Super Mario Galaxy 2"'s increased difficulty, these checkpoint flags definitely come in handy during some of the tougher stages.

The Super Guide feature has been implemented differently in this game, in the form of the Cosmic Guide.

A Cosmic version of Rosalina appears when Mario is finding a level tough, and shows him how to complete it. However, he will only obtain a Bronze Star, and must complete the level by himself in order to get the Power Star.
