Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the only town in the zone? (Hint: It's an Alliance town.)

Answer: Menethil Harbor

I guess this sort of pushes the Wetlands into being more of an Alliance-centric zone. Alliance players passing through should stop in at this city on the western coast of the zone in Menethil Bay. Aside from the usual inn, traders, trainers, and flightpath location, Menethil Harbor also contains boat paths to Theramore Isle in Dustwallow Marsh (on Kalimdor's east coast) and Valgarde in the Howling Fjord (in Northrend). Menethil Harbor is also the home to the popular Captain Placeholder who was once able to teleport players to Auberdine in Darkshore.
2. Dun Modr's Dark Iron Dwarves are hostile to all players.

Answer: True

Dun Modr, found in the northernmost point of the zone, is a Dwarven town nestled in a couple of cliffs. Players who pass by this on the road will note that level 30 Dwarves will inhabit the entire region. Dark Iron Dwarves feel that the village is entirely entitled to them, and considering that the majority of the town is in ruins anyways, it may be best just to leave them on their own. Players coming from Menethil Harbor will likely find quests to thin out their numbers. Thandol Span to the north was destroyed by these enemy forces.
3. What kind of creatures can typically be found around Ironbeard's Tomb?

Answer: Oozes

Ironbeard's Tomb can be found along the northern cliffs of the Wetlands, and while this location is rarely used anymore by players and NPCs alike, it's notable in the sense that the many Oozes surrounding the crypt (mostly sluicing at level 30) carry a bag required to complete a quest found in Menethil Harbor.

In order to reach this location, players will need to head west off the beaten path before they reach the crevasse through the mountains to Dun Modr which can be found slightly to the north. Numerous other NPCs with the name Ironbeard appear in Dwarven towns.
4. Which of these locations can not be found in the marsh regions in the west of the Wetlands?

Answer: Angerfang Encampment

The Angerfang Encampment is a camp of Orcs in the mountain range south of the marshy area. The enemies here are usually in their mid-level 20s. Regardless, Saltspray Glen is the northwestern-most region of the western swamps, Sundown Marsh is slightly to the south (and it contains a small settlement at which you can find an Alliance engineer trainer), and Bluegill Marsh is slightly to the south of that. Bluegill Marsh is just north of Menethil Harbor and it's known for having some of the bluest Murloc enemies in the game. Bluegill Murlocs, Puddlejumpers, and Muckdwellers just less than level 25 will be waiting to fight off any attackers near their village on the western coast, so beware!
5. The Lost Fleet is a series of which of these?

Answer: Shipwrecks

Along the western coast of the Wetlands just offshore from Bluegill Marsh, players can find two of the three Lost Fleet ships: The Wave Mistress and the Intrepid. The third, the Flying Osprey, is found south of Menethil Harbor, but it's still a wreck.

The three ships were led by Captain Derek Proudmoore who was killed while aboard one of them. The ships are now haunted by the souls of those who sunk with them as a result of an odd curse brought upon the crew by a dark orb which supposedly sunk with the vessels. Since when are Dark Orbs of any kind good news? Seriously.
6. Whelgar's Excavation Site contains Horde NPCs

Answer: False

Whelgar's Excavation Site, found south of the road stretching from the Green Belt and Menethil Harbor, is mainly an evacuated area now swarming with Mottled Raptors in the mid-level 20s. Although this area really has no bearing on Horde players, some higher-level 20 Alliance quests can be obtained from the few remaining Dwarves who can be found deeper into the excavation site. Really, most of these quests are just for the region anyways. You won't find any quests for the site in the zone's main quest hub, Menethil Harbor, regardless.
7. What is true about the Dragonmaw Gates?

Answer: They contain the highest-level enemies in the zone

The Dragonmaw Gates, accessible through the southeast region of the zone, is filled with enemies in their high level 50s, and players visiting it will likely be trying to make their way to the gates of Grim Batol. Although there is very little use for this otherwise questless region, players can stop in to find Red Dragonflight, a colour of this mystical creature found in few places else. Axtroz, an elite level 62 Red Dragonflight, can be found in front of Grim Batol. You'll need to kill him in a quest given by Emberstrife in the Wyrmbog of Dustwallow Marsh though Axtroz will be one of the last ones you need to run into.
8. The path through Dun Algaz leads into which zone?

Answer: Loch Modan

Taking players south through the mountain ranges, Dun Algaz is a long pathway constructed by Dwarves that rises through the cliffs and hills in the south end of the Wetlands, and when players emerge on the other side they can reach a lower-level zone, Loch Modan, which connects to the Dwarf starting area in the game, Dun Morogh. Dun Algaz is shared by both zones due to its location.

The entire walk is uphill from the Wetlands to the other side, so Loch Modan is much higher than sea level in comparison with other zones in the Eastern Kingdoms.
9. What zone borders the Wetlands to the north?

Answer: Arathi Highlands

The Wetlands can connect to the Arathi Highlands to the north via Thandol Span, a large Dwarven-built bridge crossing a huge gap between the continents of Khaz Modan and Lordaeron. The only other zone which directly connects to the Wetlands is Loch Modan to the south.

While Loch Modan is for players level 10-20, the Wetlands ranges from 20-30, so it's a natural progression for players starting from the snowcapped land of Dun Morogh to the southwest. Other continents connect to the Wetlands via flightpath and boat.
10. How many instances are found in the Wetlands?

Answer: None

Although the local Grim Batol was slated to open as an instance area in the Wetlands, the release of "Cataclysm" signaled a reintegration of Grim Batol into an entirely new zone, the Twilight Highlands, an area for players from level 84-85. Despite this, however, there are no instances whatsoever in the Wetlands.

The closest would be Gnomeregan in Dun Morogh, two entire zones away. Similarly, Uldaman can be found in the Badlands to the south of Loch Modan. Neither of these are beyond players over level 45.
