Pugsley is a very creative boy. He often plays with his various chemistry sets, creating new poisons and turning people into animals. He is also handy with explosives, which he likes to set off with Wednesday and Uncle Fester. He and Wednesday like to chase each other with various weapons and play with guillotines. In some adaptations, it is Pugsley who beheads Wednesday's dolls.

Pugsley is seen owning a variety of strange pets across his many portrayals. In the comic strip and in the TV series, he owned a pet octopus named Aristotle. The comic strip, he would walk Aristotle like he was a dog. In the series, Aristotle was kept in a regular fish tank.

Pugsley, at various times, has also owned an alligator, some kind of large lizard, spiders and a squid.

The 1977 film "Halloween with the New Addams Family" was a sequel of sorts to the television series and starred most of the original cast. Pugsley was played by Ken Weatherwax who was by this time an adult. Pugsley returns home for the first time in a while and is now a witch doctor in training the mold of the family's physician Dr. Mabogo whom he is studying under in Nairobi.

With the genuine Uncle Fester reunited with the family at the end of the movie, Pugsley plays homage to his hero by dressing as him for Halloween. Lurch paints a portrait of the two of them with Uncle Fester putting a lightbulb in his mouth at Pugsley's request.

Wednesday dresses as the homicidal maniac (in her regular clothes because they look like everyone else) and Cousin It dresses as the cowboy.

The counselors at Camp Chippewa put on a production of the First Thanksgiving with Wednesday as Pocahontas. Pugsley plays a giant turkey who, along with background performers, sings and dances to a song about killing turkeys and eating them for Thanksgiving. His big line is "I am a turkey, kill me" and also says "eat me!" a lot during the song.

The 1990s animated series featured the Addams Family in a little more of a kookier light than a macabre one because it was a children's show. As a result, the characters wore more colorful (though still creepy) outfits. Pugsley wears a pea green and yellow shirt instead of his traditional black and white one.

Other color changes during this series were Lurch having blue skin, Gomez wearing a pink suit and Wednesday wearing a bright blue outfit.

Normally, Pugsley and Wednesday are within one or two years of each other. However, the Broadway play has Wednesday at 18 years old and Pugsley around ten. As a result, Pugsley becomes dismayed and lonely at the prospect of his sister and torture partner marrying, leaving home and never torturing him again.

He steals a potion of Grandmama that will bring out someone's dark side. He hopes to slip it to Wednesday so she will become evil and her fiancé, Lucas, will leave her. However, the plan goes awry when Lucas' mother Alice drinks the potion, causing her marriage to collapse.

Pugsley struggled with learning the complex sword routine for the mazurka, a traditional rite of passage for Addams men. Gomez blamed himself because he did not let Pugsley be who he is and put too much pressure on him to get the routine correctly. However, Pugsley does pass the mazurka when he uses his explosives to save the family from incoming attacks from Margaux Needler.

Pugsley is trapped on the side of the house with his legs sticking out. The only way to get him out is to shrink him down to the size of the mouse. Gomez must collect three items to make the shrinking potion: a bone from the graveyard crypt, a bird egg from the top of the large tree and some fog from Grandmama's fog machine (which requires rescuing Grandamama and finding her wrench before completing).

This sequence of events is a reference to a deleted scene from the 1991 film the game is based on in which Pugsley shrinks himself while playing with his chemistry set.
