Cecelia is part of the minority of Quarter Quell tributes that has kept themselves in shape. She is sweet and good-natured, which makes Katniss want to be allies with her, though this never happens. Her three children cling to her when she's called at the reaping, which elicits Katniss's sympathy and sorrow when she dies.

Answer: Seeder

Both Katniss and Peeta had considered Seeder, a tribute for the Quell, for an ally. She tells Katniss that Rue and Thresh's families are both alive, and embraces Katniss because of her speech about Rue and Thresh on the Victory Tour. She dies on the first day of the Quell, and Katniss mourns for her as well as for the other dead tributes.

When Plutarch dances with Katniss at the party on the Victory Tour, he understands that Katniss doesn't want to be close to him, and therefore holds her at arms length. He gives Katniss a tip about the arena and it being a clock, although he doesn't know she will be a tribute when he does this.

Beetee is a very kind man, who is a technical genius. He won his first Games by setting an electrical trap that killed all the other tributes. Beetee plays an extremely important part in the plan to break free of the Arena and have the tributes escape - his job is to blow up the force-field. He fails at this, but when Katniss sees what he tried to do, she does it for him.

Answer: Maysilee Donner

Maysilee was Haymitch's ally in the 50th Hunger Games. She died only minutes after parting with Haymitch, and was the fifth to last tribute to die. It was her mockingjay pin that Madge gave to Katniss, and when Katniss figured that out, the pin meant a whole lot more to her than it did before.

Answer: Finnick

Finnick is part of the plan to escape the arena. He is treated first with distrust by Katniss, but as she gets to know him more, her respect for him greatly increases. He is from District Four, and is a great fighter with a trident. He always gets many sponsors because of his beauty.

Answer: Haymitch Abernathy

Haymitch won the games twenty-four years before Katniss and Peeta won. We know he was a mentor for every year of the Games since he won because there was only one other District 12 victor alive when he won, and two tributes from every district are reaped every year. When the other District 12 victor died, he had to mentor not one but two tributes each year.

Answer: Darius

When Gale was getting whipped by Thread, Darius, a friendly Peacekeeper that Katniss used to be close friends with, tried to stop Thread. As a punishment, he was made into an Avox. His role as Katniss's servant was supposed to unhinge Katniss.

Answer: Peeta Mellark

Peeta is the second most important character in the book. Katniss is in love with him, but she barely knows it herself. He is portrayed to have almost no faults.

Answer: Katniss Everdeen

The book is written from Katniss's point of view. She is the symbol of the rebellion, but she's forced into this position unknowingly. She's led a life full of hardship, and there are few bright spots in her life. Her father died when she was very young, so she had to lead the family herself - her mother wasn't functional enough to do it.

But out of these ashes, she emerges strong and triumphant, as the Mockingjay.
