Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who played the character who got killed by "Santa" in "Tales From the Crypt" (1972)?

Answer: Joan Collins

In one of the stories of the movie "Tales From the Crypt" (1972), Joan Collins played a woman who decided to murder her husband on Christmas Eve while her young daughter ran around upstairs. She heard on the radio that a maniac dressed as Santa Claus was on the loose, so she thought she could blame the death of her husband on "Santa". However, her daughter let "Santa" in the house, and he killed Joan's character.

Joan Collins was famous for starring as Alexis in TVs "Dynasty". "Star Trek" fans remember her as the woman in the time travel story "City on the Edge of Forever" in which Kirk had to let her die in order to save the future. She also played The Siren in "Batman".
2. In which of these movies did mispronouncing "Klaatu barada nikto" result in a zombie attack?

Answer: Army of Darkness

In "Army of Darkness", the continuation of "Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn", Ash had been sucked into the past by the same vortex created to get rid of a monster. After going to a castle in the middle ages, he was told he could be sent back to the future if he went to the old cemetery and brought the Book of the Dead to the wizard.

However, he had to say "Klaatu barada nikto" while grabbing the book. Ash mispronounced the words, which made the evil spirits create duplicates of Ash and resurrect the skeletons and dead people in the cemetery.

They attacked the people at the castle. (The alien also said "Klaatu barada nikto" in "The Day the Earth Stood Still".)
3. What happened to Bela Lugosi's character at the end of "Plan 9 From Outer Space"?

Answer: He turned into a skeleton.

In the movie "Plan 9 From Outer Space", Bela was said to be "the old man" who had gotten hit by a car after his wife died. His wife (Vampira) and himself had become resurrected by some space people who warned the Earth people about the possible damage of inventing a bomb which exploded light particles. Near the end of the movie, the space people didn't need him anymore, so the old man was turned back into a skeleton.
4. In what movie did the leading lady character move in with the killer?

Answer: Texas Chainsaw

In the odd movie "Texas Chainsaw" (2013), filmed primarily in Shreveport, La, the plot involved a woman who found out she was adopted, and one of her last biological relatives died and left her some land in Texas. Of course, she traveled with some of her friends in a van (like they do in most of the "Chainsaw" movies), and they picked up a hitchhiker along the way.

They dropped him off at the mansion while they went away (Why would they do that?), and the man grabbed whatever he could steal. However, he found some secret rooms where Leatherface lived! Leatherface killed him! Eventually, the mayor found out Leatherface was alive and the woman was Leatherface's cousin, so he tried to kill both of them. Leatherface and the woman helped each other to kill the mayor, and they moved into the mansion together!
5. What part did Bela Lugosi play in "The Death Kiss"?

Answer: Studio Manager

The plot of this movie is that during filming of a scene from a movie called "The Death Kiss", in which a character got shot, the actor playing the part really did get shot. The screenwriter, Franklyn Drew (David Manners) seemed to be the only one capable of figuring out how it happened. Various people died in traps set by the killer all over the movie studio, much like the "Saw" movies. Edward Van Sloan and Bela Lugosi, both from "Dracula", acted like friends in this movie. Sloan played director Tom Avery while Lugosi played as Joseph Steiner, the studio manager.
6. What talk show host played a vampire in the movie "Mary Mary Bloody Mary"?

Answer: Cristina Ferrare

In the movie "Mary Mary Bloody Mary" (1975) talk show host Cristina Ferrare (Born 8 Feb 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio, ex-wife of John De Lorean) played an American painter living in Mexico who sometimes killed people for their blood. John Carradine (1906-1988) played her vampire father.
7. What was the name of Buffalo Bill's dog in "The Silence of the Lambs"?

Answer: Precious

Jame Gumb (AKA Buffalo Bill) said to his dog, and to the senator's daughter he had put in the well in the basement to prepare her for a planned skinning later, "It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. Yes, it will, Precious." The senator's daughter later captured the dog and threatened to kill it if Jame Gumb didn't let her go.

At that moment Clarice Starling rang his doorbell. He told the woman in the well not to hurt the dog while he went to see what Clarice wanted. During the conversation Jame realized that Clarice realized that he was the killer.

They had a chase in a dark basement until Clarice shot Jame. Later, the senator's daughter sat petting Precious. It looked like she would be taking care of the dog from then on.
8. Who played as a werewolf hunter in "Howling II: Your Sister Is a Werewolf"?

Answer: Christopher Lee

A character played by Reb Brown went to his sister's funeral, but was told by a creepy man (Christopher Lee) that his sister really wasn't dead because she was a werewolf. They went to the coffin and killed her after she came back to life as a wolf woman. Later, they went to Transylvania to kill the sister (Sybil Danning) of Lee's character, because she was the queen of the werewolves. (Of course, this was an odd part for Christopher Lee, because he played Count Dracula in several movies.

He also appeared in "The Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars" movies.)
9. In what movie did Bill Murray play the same part Jack Nicholson played in the earlier version of the same story?

Answer: Little Shop of Horrors

In the original movie "Little Shop of Horrors" Seymour had a man-eating plant, Audrey Jr., and went to a sadistic dentist. Seymour thought the dentist was giving him too much pain and fought the dentist, killing him. A patient (Jack Nicholson) showed up to get a tooth pulled and enjoyed the pain inflicted on him by Seymour, who was pretending to be the dentist.

In the 1980s "Little Shop of Horrors", Seymour, the man with the plant, watched the dentist (Steve Martin) die. He didn't help because the dentist had been beating his girl friend, Audrey.

This time Bill Murray played as the masochistic patient. In each movie, the dead dentist eventually got fed to the man-eating plant.
10. How did Dan McCormick (Lon Chaney Jr) kill people in "Man Made Monster" (1941)?

Answer: Electricity

After surviving an accident in which a bus hit a high power line, Dan McCormick (Lon Chaney Jr) seemed to be immune to electricity, because everyone else on the bus died. Mad scientist Dr. Paul Rigas (Lionel Atwill) decided to give Dan higher doses of electricity in hopes of one day creating an army of electro-bio zombies.

When Dan accidentally electrocuted someone by touching him, he was sent to the electric chair, which made him even more strong.
