Emmy Award-winning Ed Asner came to the nation's attention as Lou Grant on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970). The Kansas City, Missouri, native began acting at the Playwrights Theatre Company in Chicago in the fifties. He had guest appearances in various television shows until he landed the role of Lou Grant. He also appeared in the 1977 television mini-series "Roots". In "Kid Galahad" he played Assistant District Attorney Frank Gerson. The movie featured Elvis as a mechanic turned fighter whose gambling promoter, played by Gig Young, had mob debts. Asner has also lent his voice to numerous animated features including "Batman: The Animated Series".
Michael Gross played Steven Keaton, the manager of a public television station in "Family Ties" (1982). Jack Bannon and Robert Walden co-starred with Asner in his 1977 spin-off dramatic show, "Lou Grant".

She also had guest roles on "Bonanza" (1959), "Dr. Kildare" (1961) and "Perry Mason" (1957) among many others. In "The Trouble With Girls" Mason played Charlene, a former law school student and Elvis' love interest. The film involved the problems encountered by a roving Chautauqua show when they arrived in a small town. "Chautauqua" was the working title of the film during the screenplay phase. During her high school years Marilyn spent three years in a tiger suit as the school's mascot.
