"Love Me Tender" (1956) was Elvis Presley's first film. He plays Clint Reno, the youngest of four brothers. Clint stayed home to take care of the family farm while his brothers fought in the Civil War.

6. "Clambake" and "Spinout"

Elvis was once again a race car driver (and singer) in "Spinout", with Fabares playing spoiled heiress Cynthia Foxhugh. The plot has three women chasing after Elvis, who desperately wants to stay single.

Fabares gained fame as daughter Mary Stone on "The Donna Reed Show" (1958-1963). She continued work in television, and was Christine on the ABC sitcom "Coach" (1989-1997). She also had a number one hit with "Johnny Angel" in April 1962.
7. Frankie and Johnny

"Frankie and Johnny" (1966) stars Elvis as Johnny, a singer on a riverboat with a gambling problem. Donna Douglas plays Frankie, his singing partner and girlfriend.
Donna Douglas is most famous as Elly May Clampett on "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1962-1971). The show was one of the biggest hits of the 1960s. "Frankie and Johnny" was effectively her last film role, although she did continue acting in television, even reprising her Elly Mae role in 1981. Douglas died January 1, 2015.
8. Speedway

"Speedway" (1968) is yet another film where Elvis is a race car driver. He plays Steve Grayson, whose crooked manager gets him in trouble with the Internal Revenue Service. Nancy Sinatra plays Susan Jacks, the IRS agent who is handling Steve's case. Naturally, she winds up falling for Elvis. "Speedway" was Elvis' last formula musical.
Nancy Sinatra, the daughter of Frank, is best known as a singer. Her biggest hit was "These Boots Were Made for Walking" which was a #1 hit in February 1966. She also sang the "Bond" Theme "You Only Live Twice" (1967). Sinatra had a fairly brief film career; her most notable other film was "The Wild Angels" (1966) with Peter Fonda.
9. Change of Habit

"Change of Habit" (1969) was Elvis' next to last film. He plays John Carpenter, an idealistic doctor working in an inner city neighborhood. Mary Tyler Moore plays (Sister) Michelle Gallagher, a novice doing an inner city mission before she takes her vows. Elvis does not know she is a nun, causing complications when he falls in love with her.
Mary Tyler Moore first became famous as Laura Petrie on "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961-66). Proving her chops as a comedian, Moore went on to star on one the top sitcoms of the 1970s as news producer Mary Richards in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970-77). Moore received an Academy Award nomination for her work in "Ordinary People" (1980), a major departure from her screen persona. Moore died in January 2017.
10. Wild in the Country

"Wild in the Country" (1961) stars Elvis as Glenn Tyler, a troubled youth who gets in trouble with the law. Hope Lange plays Irene Sperry, a court appointed counselor who is supposed to help Glenn straighten out his life. The film also stars Tuesday Weld as Elvis' cousin Noreen.
Hope Lange began acting in the 1950s and became famous for "Peyton Place" (1957). The risque film earned Lange both Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. Lange won two Emmy Awards for her work on "The Ghost and Mrs Muir" (1968-1970). Lange continued acting through the 1990s. She died in Janaury 2003.
