Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the B-side of the "Paperback Writer" single?

Answer: Rain

Both "Paperback Writer" and "Rain" were recorded from April 13th to 16th, 1966. Paul McCartney appeared in the single's promotional video with a chipped tooth from the motorcycle accident that caused his "death."
2. Which of these songs from the U.K. album "Beatles for Sale" was never considered as an A-side for a 1964 single?

Answer: Rock and Roll Music

"No Reply" and "I'm a Loser" were both major contenders for single releases until "Eight Days a Week" came along. The cover of Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" was never seriously considered.
3. Which of these songs was released as the A-side of a U.S. single?

Answer: Lady Madonna

"Thank You Girl" was the B-side of "From Me to You", and reached the US Billboard charts in its own right. "I'm Down" was on the B-side of "Help!," and "Yes It Is" was on the B-side of "Ticket to Ride."
4. On which date were both songs from the Beatles' first U.S. single recorded?

Answer: September 11th, 1962

"Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" (only the third and fourth songs they recorded, the first being "How Do You Do It" and the second being "Love Me Do" with Ringo on drums) were recorded in the Beatles' second-ever session. They also recorded an earlier version of "Please Please Me" that day.
5. Which song was released as a single in both America and in Britain?

Answer: Let It Be

"Let It Be" was the only of these to be released in both countries. Its B-side was "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)." "Eight Days a Week," "Yesterday" and "The Long and Winding Road" were not released in the UK.
6. Which single was a double-A side?

Answer: "We Can Work It Out " / " Day Tripper"

Few double A-sided singles by the Beatles were released. They were "We Can Work it Out" / "Day Tripper," "Yellow Submarine" / "Eleanor Rigby," "Something" / "Come Together," "Hey Jude" / "Revolution" and "Penny Lane" / "Strawberry Fields Forever." (thank you, stonesfan1)
7. What was the B-side of the "All You Need is Love" single?

Answer: Baby, You're a Rich Man

All five aforementioned songs are from "Magical Mystery Tour," but the other three options were recorded months after "All You Need is Love" and "Baby, You're a Rich Man." "Hello, Goodbye" / "I Am the Walrus" was released as a single in November 1967.
8. Which song by George Harrison was never featured on a single?

Answer: Here Comes the Sun

"Old Brown Shoe" was the B-side of "The Ballad of John and Yoko." "Something" was the A-side of "Come Together." "The Inner Light" was the B-side of "Lady Madonna." "Here Comes the Sun" was on the 1969 album "Abbey Road." The three songs that were incorrect answers were the only songs written by George Harrison that appeared on any single, although I believe there might have been a minor "Taxman" single. If anyone out there has any information about this, don't hesitate to contact me.
9. The earliest single featuring the Beatles (with Tony Sheridan) was "My Bonnie" / "The Saints." On which date were both songs recorded?

Answer: June 22nd, 1961

While the Beatles did not technically perform these songs, the musicians present were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Tony Sheridan. These songs were performed at Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Hamburg, Germany.
10. With which song from "A Hard Day's Night" was the four-minute, seven-song medley "The Beatles Movie Medley" coupled?

Answer: I'm Happy Just to Dance with You

"The Beatles Movie Medley" / "I'm Happy Just to Dance with You" was a single released some time after 1970. the former was a four-minute medley that consisted of "Magical Mystery Tour," "All You Need is Love," "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," "I Should Have Known Better," "A Hard Day's Night," "Ticket to Ride" and "Get Back."
