Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which Oasis single was the first to debut at #1 in the UK?

Answer: Some Might Say

"Some Might Say" achieved a #1 debut as it was the first single to be released off of the highly anticipated "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?" album. Both "Wonderwall" and "Roll With It" went in at number 2 in the UK. "Don't Look Back In Anger" also debuted at #1 but it was the fourth single released from the album, therefore making "Some Might Say" the first single to achieve the #1 spot.
2. "Little James" on "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants" was the first official solo-credited contribution to an Oasis album by singer Liam Gallagher.

Answer: True

It is true. The first officially credited solo song for Liam was indeed "Little James." It has long been believed that he wrote the chorus for "Columbia" and had a small part in the shaping of "Don't Look Back In Anger", but those two songs are officially credited to Noel Gallagher alone.
3. What was Noel's main inspiration for writing the song "Don't Go Away"?

Answer: He wrote it for Bonehead's mom who had been diagnosed with cancer

In fact, the entire album "Be Here Now" is dedicated to her. This dedication can be found in the album liner notes.
4. The officially released demo for "The Hindu Times" (found on "The Hindu Times" DVD single) has Noel on lead vocals instead of Liam.

Answer: True

Liam provides vocals for the album version but Noel in fact sings the demo version of the song. It is not uncommon for Noel to sing the demos, as he does write almost every Oasis song.
5. Name the venue where Alan McGee "discovered" Oasis and offered them a multi-album record deal.

Answer: King Tut's Wah Wah Hut

Oasis travelled to Scotland in 1993 to play a gig at "King Tut's Wah Wah Hut". Simply by chance, Creation Records boss Alan McGee was in the audience that night and was so impressed, he gave Oasis a multi-album deal on the spot.
6. How many albums did the multi-studio-made-album deal signed by Oasis and Alan Mcgee include?

Answer: 6

Oasis signed for six studio-created albums (therefore not including "The Masterplan" [b-side album] or "Familiar To Millions" [live album].
7. "Supersonic" was Oasis' first ever released single in the UK; which single was released second?

Answer: Shakermaker

"Shakermaker" followed "Supersonic" and made it to #11 in the UK.
8. Oasis has played at least one full gig without Noel present and at least one full gig without Liam present.

Answer: True

Liam has walked out many times and has been replaced with Noel as the singer of the whole gig. Noel left the band in the early part of 2000 and was replaced by Matt Deighton as guitarist. Nobody sang Noel's backing vocal parts for that leg of the tour.
9. What B-side is the following lyric from: "d'you think it's all a dream?"

Answer: Shout It Out Loud

"as we wish the world away / d'you think it's all a dream? / cos that's what it seems". That's "Shout It Out Loud", taken from the "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" single.
10. Before Noel joined and the band was renamed "Oasis", what were they known as?

Answer: The Rain

Liam, Guigsy, Bonehead and a drum machine made up The Rain. Drummer Tony McCarroll joined, followed by Noel shortly afterward. The band was then renamed Oasis.
