"Do You Want To Know A Secret" was not released as a single in the UK but peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964. The "Please Please Me" album would have been recorded at he Cavern club in Liverpool but it was found to be unsuitable. Instead they used the Abbey Road studio and recorded the album in three, three hour sessions over just under 13 hours, including breaks. Each of The Beatles received £7.10 shillings for each of the three hour sessions and the whole recording session cost approximately £400.

"Don't Bother Me" written by George Harrison is track four on side one of The Beatles' second UK album "with the beatles", (The album title was all in small case letters). It was number one for 21 weeks in 1963/64 and replaced their own first album "Please Please Me" at number one on the UK album chart.

The album had advance orders of 500,000 copies and had sold 1,000,000 copies by late 1965. It became the first Beatles' album to sell 1,000,000 copies in the UK and the second to sell 1,000,000 copies in the UK after the soundtrack from the 1958 movie "South Pacific". "Don't Bother Me" was George Harrison's first recorded solo composition and his first released on a Beatles' album.

For the first time, all the songs on a Beatles' album are original and were written by Lennon/McCartney. The album did contain an earlier single, "Can't Buy Me Love" which had been number one for three weeks in March, and its B-Side "You Can't Do That". George Harrison does get to sing, on "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You". Ringo on the other hand does not get a look in.

They again replaced themselves at number one on the UK album chart by knocking "A Hard Day's Night" off the top and remaining at number one for seven weeks. They regained the top spot for one week by displacing "The Rolling Stones No. 2". They were replaced again by "The Rolling Stones No. 2" but replaced them again for a further three weeks at number one.

"I Need You" written by George Harrison is track four on side one of The Beatles' fifth UK album "Help! It was number one for nine weeks on the UK album chart in 1965.

The first side of the album contained songs from the movie "Help!", which included the previously released singles "Ticket To Ride" and "Help!". Side two contained their most covered song "Yesterday". George Harrison contributed two songs to the album "I Need You" and "You Like Me Too Much". His first since "Don't Bother Me" on their 1963 album "with the beatles".

"What Goes On" written by Lennon/McCartney/Starkey is track one on side two of The Beatles' sixth UK album "Rubber Soul". It was number one for eight weeks on the UK album chart in 1965/66.

"Rubber Soul" was released in the UK on the 3 December 1965. On the same day their number one double A-Side single "We Can Work It Out"/"Day Tripper" was released and they began their last ever UK tour at the Odeon cinema Glasgow, Scotland. On this album Ringo Starr received his first song writing credit on a Beatles' album for, "What Goes On".

"Don't Pass Me By" written by Richard Starkey is track six on side two of The Beatles' ninth UK album "The Beatles" (The White Album). It was number one for eight weeks on the UK album chart in 1968/69.

The break up of The Beatles gained momentum during the recording sessions at Abbey Road for this album. Arguments broke out over creative differences. Another problem was the presence of Yoko Ono when it had been the group's policy not to have wives or girlfriends at recording sessions. Even George Martin took a leave of absence and recording engineer Geoff Emerick quit. Ringo Starr actually left the band for a brief period in August.

The album cover was plain white with The Beatles embossed in the bottom right hand quarter; there was also a printed serial number. Included in the album was a poster comprising a montage of photographs, selected by pop artist Richard Hamilton and Paul McCartney with the lyrics of the songs on the back. There were also four individual colour portraits taken by photographer John Kelly.

"It's Only A Northern Song" written by George Harrison is track two on side one of The Beatles' tenth UK album "Yellow Submarine". It peaked at number two on the UK album chart in 1969.

Regarded as a contractual obligation by the Beatles, the "Yellow Submarine" album only contained four new songs; two previously released tracks "Yellow Submarine" and "All You Need Is Love" made up side one. Side two consisted of a re-recording of the sound track to the animated movie "Yellow Submarine". Peter Batten, who voiced George Harrison's character in the first half of the movie, was arrested during the recording. He was found to be a deserter from the British Army in Germany. It is rumoured that the Blue Meanies were supposed to be red (I'm glad they weren't).

The album cover features a drawing of the Beatles and various characters from the "Yellow Submarine" movie created by Heinz Edelman. It has the words "Nothing Is Real" under the album title on the UK issue but not on the US issue.

"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" written by Lennon/McCartney is track three on side one of The Beatles' eleventh UK album "Abbey Road". It was number one for 17 non-consecutive weeks on the UK album chart in 1969/70.

Although it was agreed to record an album the way they used to do it, there was still some falling out. Yoko Ono was still attending recording sessions, this time there was a bed installed for her after she and John had been involved in a car crash. George Martin only agreed to produce the album if the group, and especially John Lennon, would let him produce it in the way he had produced their earlier albums. The final sequencing of the album tracks was on 20 August 1969, it would be the last time that all of The Fab Four would be present in a studio together.

"Two Of Us" written by Lennon/McCartney is the first track on side one of The Beatles twelfth and final studio album. It was number one for three weeks on the UK album chart in 1970.

Although "Let It Be" was their final album release, most of it was recorded before the "Abbey Road" album. "Let It Be" was conceived as "Get Back" and was going to be a return to the Beatles' earlier music. It was scheduled for release before "Abbey Road" therefore many critics and fans consider "Abbey Road" to have been The Beatles' final album.
