10. Maria Montessori made an important contribution in which field?

Answer: Education

Maria Montessori was an Italian physician and educator. She developed a method for teaching children and believed that the environment was of paramount importance. Children should be helped and encouraged to pursue their own interests. They learn mathematics much more easily by doing puzzles than by rote learning.

The classes should be of mixed ages as this was more real, and any help given by fellow pupils must be voluntary. Teachers do not pressure children to learn more quickly, and each child learns at his/her own pace.
