Toe Blake got the series-winning goal at 11:06 into the third period of Game 5. It was his second series-winning goal in three years. It was the Canadiens 9th appearance in the Cup Finals and ended up being their 7th victory.

The Leafs won their fourth title in five years, and sixth in seven years with a 4-1 win over the Canadians. It was the first of five straight years Montreal would be in the finals.
7. 1952

The Red Wings made the finals for the fourth time in five years, and won their second championship in that span with a 4-0 sweep of Montreal. It was the second year in a row the Dick Irvin-led Canadians lost in the finals.
8. 1953

Making their third straight appearance, Montreal came away with the cup. They beat the Bruins in five games to give their franchise its 8th championship.

For the second time in three years Detroit beat Montreal for the Cup. It was a 4-3 series this time though, rather than a sweep.
10. 1955

In a re-match of the 1954 finals, the series went the same way. Though the Red Wings switched coaches in the offseason, Jimmy Skinner lead the team to a 4-3 victory over the Canadiens. It was the third title in four years for Detroit, all wins over the Canadiens who had been in the finals for five straight years.
