Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Picard finds himself completely covered in mud in this episode.

Answer: Family

Following his experience with the Borg Collective back in the "Best Of Both Worlds" two-parter, the captain has taken some time off away from the Enterprise to return back home to France, where he's reacquainted with his nephew, brother and sister-in-law.

His jealous brother, Robert, however, isn't particularly happy to see him, and when tempers finally flare while they are having it out in the vineyard, the two brothers soon find themselves in a grappling match, wrestling each other onto the ground until they are both completely covered in mud. Yet all is well once they grow tired of fighting, laughing uncontrollably at their display of childishness.

In "Who Watches The Watchers?", although Picard does gets his hands 'dirty' (in a figurative sense, that is) when he goes down to the planet to work in convincing the Mintakans that he's not a god, he manages to keep is uniform from literally becoming dirty this time.

In "The Arsenal Of Freedom" (one of my personal favorite episodes from the first season), both Picard and Dr. Crusher fall into a pit when fleeing from one of the airborne weapons, and although he does get a bit dirty from the fall, he's not completely covered in mud.

The same holds true for "Attached"; Picard and his uniform do get a bit dirty while he and Dr. Crusher are lying in the prison, then a little more while they're traversing the underground caverns and eventually the planet's surface, but he doesn't get completely covered with mud while they're mounting their escape from the prison on foot.
2. Keiko gives birth to her and Chief O'Brien's very first child in this episode.

Answer: Disaster

With the malfunctions and power failures having confined people to various sections of the Enterprise, Worf finds himself trapped in Ten Forward with an expecting Keiko. It's not long before the transporter room chief's wife goes into labor, and without access to sickbay, the Klingon security chief and a few of the medical personnel have no choice but to deliver the newborn baby girl right then and there.

In "Power Play", Molly has already been born, but she's still a newborn, being coddled by her mother when a possessed Troi, Data and Chief O'Brien take over Ten Forward while Keiko is present and keep everyone inside hostage.

By the time the seventh-season episode "Rascals" airs, Molly is about two years old, and Molly isn't even born yet in the fourth-season episode "The Wounded".
3. Geordi is left in temporary command of the Enterprise while Picard is bedridden with sickness and Riker is nowhere to be seen on the ship.

Answer: Angel One

After the airborne 'perfume' virus has infected much of the Enterprise crew, Picard becomes sick and is relieved of command by Dr. Crusher, who ends up making a house call to his quarters and forces him to drink a special healthy concoction. With Riker, Yar, Counselor Troi and Data all down on the surface of Angel One to negotiate for the retrieval of the survivors of the Odin, Picard leaves Geordi in command of the Enterprise who, after relieving a very sick Worf of his duty, ends up getting sick himself and having to be relieved of command once Data beams back to the ship.

In "The Arsenal Of Freedom", Geordi does have temporary command of the Enterprise and is in the captain's chair when one of the weapons in orbit of the planet Minos deploys fire on the ship and becomes a formidable test for him. Picard, however, isn't bedridden with sickness; he's beamed down to the planet (along with Dr. Crusher) in a search and rescue effort of Riker, Yar and Data.

In "Time Squared", although the duplicate of Picard rescued from the duplicate shuttle does remain bedridden in sickbay for much of the episode, Riker remains on the Enterprise the whole time and takes over command of the ship.

Then in "The Battle", Picard does become temporarily bedridden when the 'headaches' he experiences as a result of the Ferengis' mind-alternating sphere become too much for him to bear, but it is Riker who assumes command of the Enterprise in Picard's absence this time as well, and not Geordi.
4. A character who an Enterprise crewmember meets and engages in dialogue with face to face previously in the series is seen for only the second time, in some form or another, in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Half A Life

This one's a little tricky! "Half A Life" marks the return of the outrageous Lwaxana Troi and her very tall valet, Mr. Homn, who were both previously seen in "Ménage ŔTroi" and "Manhunt". It also marks the return of the Enterprise's trusty transporter room officer, Chief O'Brien, who was previously seen in several episodes, including "The Wounded" and even the series pilot.

Although actress Michelle Forbes does appear in this episode, the character she is playing is an alien named Dara, the daughter of the scientist named Dr. Timicin, whom Lwaxana falls in love with.

As for all the other characters featured in this episode who've engaged in dialogue before, it includes solely regular members of the senior staff who, of course, have been featured in just about every episode prior to this one as well. Further, Dr. Timicin himself makes only his first appearance of the series in this episode. "Disaster" marked the official second time that we do see Ensign Ro since debuting a couple of episodes prior to that when the Bajorans were also introduced to the series for the first time.

She's working with both Chief O'Brien and Counselor Troi in their attempts to reestablish control of the Enterprise after the shipwide malfunctions have crewmembers scattered and trapped in various locations. Being the second episode to air in the show's second season, "Where The Silence Has Lease" marked the second time we see Dr. Pulaski. Then in "Future Imperfect", Riker's holographic sweetheart, Minuet, who was previously seen in the first-season episode "11001001", is seen again posing as his wife and celebrating a birthday with his 'son' via visual logs that Riker accesses when he's inside his quarters. All of it, though, was an illusion first thought to have been created by the Romulans, but turns out to have been created by the single alien individual masquerading as his 'son' all along.
5. Geordi is looking at a holographic image of someone from Starfleet he knew well from a previous time, but he's inside someone's quarters and not on the holodeck while he's doing so.

Answer: The Most Toys

This one's a little tricky, too! After Data has been kidnapped by the maniacal Fajo, Geordi and Wesley are attempting to piece together the missing parts to the puzzle of Data's whereabouts following the shuttle accident. The two men enter into Data's quarters, where Geordi sifts through some of his android friend's collectibles, putting the prized keepsake of the holographic recording of the dearly-departed Lieutenant Tasha Yar from her memorial service on display.

In "Identity Crisis", it's true that Geordi was looking at holographic images of his friend, Commander Leitjen, and the rest of the original away team, while replaying the logs from their mission on Tarchannen III, but he does this from engineering and, eventually, on the holodeck itself, and not while inside anybody's quarters. "Booby Trap" was the episode where Geordi becomes acquainted with the holographic representation of Dr. Leah Brahms, and it's only her image that is seen in holographic form in this episode. Geordi, however, is on the holodeck in a recreation of the facility where Dr. Brahms worked whenever he's interacting with her.

Then in the fifth season cliffhanger, Geordi is never looking at holographic images of anyone; he and the rest of the away team only see images of the lifeforms who are slightly out of phase while they're down on the alien planet attempting to enter into the same temporal distortion that Data disappeared into.
6. An Enterprise crewmember has a brief romance with an alien who visits the Enterprise in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: The Game

Here's another tricky one! In "The Game", Riker did have the brief fling of a romance going on with the Ktarian woman he met on Risa, who eventually plots to take over the Federation with her mind-altering game devices. Although the crew does establish contact with the Ktarian woman via viewscreen near the end of the episode, she never steps foot onboard the Enterprise itself.

As for the other romance in this episode, it's between a vacationing Wesley and the young lady on Geordi's engineering detail named Robin Lefler, who is all Human and definitely not an alien.

In "Sub Rosa", the alien 'ghost' named Ronin does pay a visit to Dr. Crusher's quarters after she leaves the planet and brings the candle back to the ship with her, even though Ronin remains in non-corporeal form during the particularly erotic moments he has the ship's doctor in a total state of seductive pleasure.

In "The Dauphin", Wesley falls for the young girl who turns out to actually be a shapeshifter and has the ability to morph into a particularly horrific monster of a creature, even taking her on a romantic date on the holodeck for a breathtaking view of the cosmos.

Then in "The Outrageous Okona", it's Okona himself who falls for the transporter chief on duty, an attractive brunette woman, who beams him onto the ship via the transporter room. Later, we see that same transporter chief clad in an alluring red dress with Okona kissing her passionately when Data walks in on the pair in her quarters.
7. A Federation vessel is brought into the Enterprise's shuttlebay with the use of two different tractor beams when the passenger onboard is unable to pilot that vessel itself.

Answer: Time Squared

At the beginning of the episode, the futuristic duplicate of Captain Picard is found onboard a duplicate shuttlecraft, which is tractored into the shuttlebay first by the Enterprise's main tractor beam in outer space, then by a secondary tractor beam inside the shuttlebay itself, for further analysis.

When the crew realizes what the connection is between this duplicate captain and the eventual destruction of the Enterprise at the hands of the spatial distortion, the present timeline Picard confronts his duplicate in the cargo bay, stopping him from leaving the Enterprise in order to alter the events of the time loop.

As a result, the duplicate and his shuttlecraft, as well as the distortion itself, all vanish, and the timeline is reset back to normal by the end of the episode.

In the first season episode, "The Battle", the Enterprise does engage a tractor beam to tow the U.S.S. Stargazer while traveling alongside the Ferengi vessel, but Picard's old starship is never tractored into the shuttlebay (and was surely too large to even be possible).

In "Cause And Effect", the only Federation vessel seen in this episode is the Enterprise itself, and there are no other vessels being tractored inside any other kind of ship. Then in "Transfigurations", there were no Federation vessels encountered by the Enterprise at all; only the escape pod of 'John Doe' and the Zalkonian ship seen at the end of the episode are encountered.
8. Riker meets a woman who immediately pulls him close for a kiss before either one of them can even formally introduce themselves.

Answer: The Offspring

In his very first appearance (as well as a very humorous moment) in this episode, Riker enters Ten Forward, where he catches the eye of Data's android daughter, Lal, working behind the bar. Under the guidance of Guinan prior to Riker's arrival, Lal had observed a few crewmembers getting affectionate with each other, which she puts into practice by pulling Riker over the counter and laying a rather forced kiss on the ship's first officer, much to the shock of Data, who conveniently happens to step into Ten Forward just in time to catch his daughter in the act.

In "Manhunt", although the outrageous Lwaxana Troi announces her marriage to Riker on the bridge while on her 'hunt' to find the perfect mate, she only gets as far as holding him close to her; the Betazoid and the first officer never kiss.

In "11001001", Riker does share a passionate kiss with his holographic sweetheart Minuet while they're slow dancing to some nice jazz music, but at least this time, Riker was able to get Minuet's name before their shared moment of affection.

Then in "Angel One", things also move nice and slow when he has the brief romance with Mistress Beata on the female-dominated planet; they've already been formally introduced to each other before they get passionate in bed in her private quarters.
9. Two children are seen jumping up and down on beds in crew quarters in this episode.

Answer: Rascals

Behaving like the children that the anomaly encountered during the shuttlecraft trip back to the Enterprise transforms them into, Ensign Ro and Guinan take a moment to enjoy being kids again by jumping up and down on the beds in the Bajoran's quarters, giggling at their own amusement.

In "Imaginary Friend", the young girl named Clara and the alien entity that pretends to be Clara's made-up friend, Isabella, do spend a lot of time together getting into a bit of mischief onboard the Enterprise, but jumping up and down on beds isn't among the activities they choose to partake in.

In "Pen Pals", the only two children seen in this episode are Wesley and the alien girl named Sarjenka, who is the 'pen pal' whom Data establishes communications with.

But neither Wesley nor Sarjenka are jumping up and down on beds: Wesley is busy commanding his appointed team for geological observation of the planets while Sarjenka is busy getting to know her new android friend. Then in "When The Bough Breaks", although we see several children in this episode, none of them are seen jumping up and down on beds, whether on the Enterprise or on the planet called Aldea where they've been abducted and are being groomed to be the future generation of the alien society.
10. During the second season finale "Shades Of Gray", images of Riker's past include scenes taken from all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Where No One Has Gone Before

Dr. Pulaski and Counselor Troi together come up with the idea to subject Riker's brain with to a variety of stimuli in order to drive out the alien organism that has infected him, which includes both positive dreams and negative dreams. Among the positive dreams are his brief romance with the Irish lady from "Up The Long Ladder", meeting Data for the first time on the holodeck in "Encounter At Farpoint" and another brief romance with the holographic Minuet from "11001001", which is one of the correct answers.

Then among the negative dreams are witnessing the death of Counselor Troi's boy in "The Child", Tasha Yar's death at the hands of Armus in "Skin Of Evil", him taking command of the Klingon ship in "A Matter Of Honor" and being held at death point by the electrical energy flowing from the hands of the alien man named T'Jon in "Symbiosis"--the latter two episodes being the other correct answers. So that leaves "Where No One Has Gone Before", and there were no images from that episode featured in any of Riker's dreams before Dr. Pulaski successfully drives out the alien infecting his brain.
