1.03 "Born to the Purple" Trivia Quiz

Gold Channel is reserved for emergency communications and requires the permission of the station commander in order to use it. The ambassadors and the senior officers on Babylon 5 are the only ones who know of its existence.

Garibaldi was busy tracking down the person who was using the Gold Channel. Sinclair helped Londo right from the beginning (in exchange for a certain concessions in the settlement with the Narn) by going undercover in down below to track down Adira. Talia agreed to help set up Trakis by tricking him into broadcasting Adira's location so she could read him without doing an actual scan. G'Kar got tricked into helping by Sinclair (he thought he would be purchasing valuable information on Londo). There is a great little exchange when G'Kar finds out that he helped -- Londo says: "My dear G'Kar. How can I ever thank you? You have saved my career, and the honor of the entire Centauri Republic." Quite distressed, G'Kar blurts out: "What?"

Londo is initially in the club watching Adira dance. Sinclair and G'Kar show up, quite angry since he has been avoiding the negotiations for the Euphrates Sector. Ko D'Ath enters next to inform G'Kar that she has arrived as the head of his diplomatic staff.

When Londo finds out that Adira has left him in the morning, he no longer has any interest in the negotiations, so he tells Vir to go in his place ("Don't give away the homeworld." ). When Vir walks into the negotiation room, G'Kar becomes furious and refuses to negotiate with him, so he tells Ko D'Ath to take over negotiations ("Just don't give away the homeworld.").

After giving Garibaldi the run-around for nearly an episode, he finally discovers that Ivanova has been using the Gold Channel to communicate with her dying father.

This line comes from a conversation between Sinclair and Londo. Sinclair has just promised to help Londo find Adira and Trakis, while not reporting it to Garibaldi and security, as long as Londo agrees to Sinclair's settlement with G'Kar. Londo says the line above, and Sinclair replies: "That should make G'Kar's day."

Adira is a slave owned by Trakis. She has been working as an exotic dancer in the night club Londo frequents in order to get into a position were she can steal Londo's files for Trakis. She succeeds in stealing the files (in a very efficient manner), thereby making her a thief, slave and dancer.

Garibaldi was on the lookout for the person using the Gold Channel and told the computer to notify him when the channel was opened next, so he can trace the call. He says this line when he receives the notification from the computer.

Answer: blackmail information on Centauri families

Trakis explains to Adira why he wants to steal the Purple Files: "Do you know why a drunken fool like Mollari has...power? Because his family has been collecting dirt on other families for years, like all the noble houses of the Centauri Republic." He goes on further to explain that this information creates opportunities for blackmail and control of other families.

This information would be terribly useful to anyone wanting to bring down the Centauri Republic, especially the Narn.

Answer: Homeguard Leader Convicted

For those of you who pay close attention to details, this is something you should look for. The headlines of the 'Universe Today' give hints at solutions to previous events and foreshadowing to things that have not yet happened. This headline most likely refers to the later episode, "The War Prayer," which heavily involves the Homeguard.

The dinner is probably a sort of reward to Talia for taking the time and trouble to help with the negotiations.

According to Centauri law, as a slave owner, Trakis is responsible for all of Adira's actions. Trakis wants Londo's purple files to sell to the highest bidder.

Her father did not want her to join Earthforce, but Ivanova thought it was her duty, especially after her brother was killed. The two of them became distant and have not talked in years. We learn more about Ivanova and her brother in "In the Beginning."

This line is said when G'Kar and Sinclair are negotiating for the treaty concessions and the 'business opportunity' for G'Kar which is a setup to buy Londo's Purple Files.
