Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who swam to the beach from the Abigail in the opening scene?

Answer: Nick

It was revealed later in the episode that Strand had sent Nick ashore to locate Luis. They needed Luis to get into Mexico. Luis was raised with the Abigail family. His mother was in Baja waiting for them to return.

"Talking Dead" guests for this episode were Colman Domingo, who plays Strand, and actress/super fan Yvette Nicole Brown. In an onset interview, Frank Dillane said that he believed Nick volunteered to go because he enjoyed staying busy and being useful in this new world. He also understood the world better than the rest of his group. He has been compared to Glenn from "TWD" in his capacity to help with hard tasks and retrieving items.
2. Who told Travis, "I wanna do more than survive, I wanna start over"?

Answer: Madison

Travis was ticked off at Strand for cutting the rope tying Alex and Jake's raft to the yacht. He admitted he was tempted to toss Strand overboard. That was when Maddie reminded him that they needed Strand's safehold in Mexico. She wanted to do more than just survive. She has been compared to the early days of Rick Grimes from "TWD" in this aspect.
3. In a conversation with Ofelia, Chris revealed that he'd been dating a girl named Maria where he used to live. Where had Chris lived before recently returning to Los Angeles with his mother?

Answer: Pomona

The hoodie Chris wore a lot had the city name of "Pomona" on the back as well. He told Ofelia his mom had recently moved them back to L.A. and he'd been attending a Parochial school. Ofelia admitted she'd attended a Catholic school from kindergarten through twelfth grade. She said she'd "definitely had some fun" her parents didn't know about and had made some bad decisions.

Pomona is about thirty miles from Los Angeles. Fun Fact- it's also not far from San Dimas, which was the "1988/89" setting for the film "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" (1989).
4. Fill in the blank from Reed's quote: "Should I shoot 'em? Piece of advice, if you have to ask the question, somebody should already be ________."

Answer: dead

This was not long after Reed, Kip (known to Alicia as Jack), and Vida boarded the yacht. They feigned that Vida's pregnancy was in danger, taking Chris and Ofelia off guard. When Maddie, Travis, and Daniel appeared, Maddie immediately took Vida into the interior to help her. Alicia went upstairs and recognized Jack's voice, but Reed called him Kip (more than once in this episode).

Musician and actor Jesse McCartney played the role of Reed, and did a great job being villainous.
5. Flashback- Strand met Abigail not long after Hurricane Katrina.

Answer: True

They were in a hotel bar, where news footage was displaying the "aftermath" of Hurricane Katrina New Orleans. Strand admitted his father never understood him, his mom had not been present in his life, and that he was bankrupt. Abigail admitted to Strand that his birth mother had been "absent as well". Hurricane Katrina happened in 2005, so Strand met Abigail approximately five years before the virus outbreak.

"TD"- Colman Domingo told Chris and Yvette that he'd been the one to suggest to the writers that Abigail be a man instead of a female love interest, daughter, or family member. I think it was a perfect idea.
6. Flashback- What was the first name of Mr. Abigail?

Answer: Thomas

After their long conversation in the bar, Strand helped Thomas Abigail to his hotel room (he was very drunk). Then, he helped himself to the man's credit cards. Thomas told Strand he was very wealthy and worked for his father, and that he (Thomas) was a parasite. He was in New Orleans to buy land, and said "when there's blood in the streets, buy land". He was there to close half of the Ninth Ward and had to look "those people" in the eye. Strand suggested that he not do it, but Thomas said he "was obligated" to the business and his father. Strand would later use that same phrase on Nick, when they were locked together in season one. He obligated Nick to him.

Dougray Scott played Thomas.
7. Madison told Vida she'd had a miscarriage between her pregnancies with Nick and Alicia.

Answer: True

This was while she was distracting Vida, so Daniel could get out of his restraints. Vida said she had 4 weeks left in her pregnancy and that her baby was a girl. Maddie asked when the last time was that she'd felt her baby move, and told the story of her miscarriage. It was unclear if the story was real, or just a psychological tool to distract Vida. Veronica Diaz-Carranza played Vida.

"TD"- in a poll, the majority of viewers agreed that Connor's team finding them was Alicia's fault. Alicia herself took the blame. Actress Alycia Debnam-Carey is so different on "FTWD" than in her role on "The 100".
8. Who left the Abigail with Connor and his team?

Answer: Travis and Alicia

Connor said he only needed the two of them. So, Alicia and Travis had bags put over their heads and were taken away. Reed told our group that Connor held them all together, but had a weak stomach. Not long after that, Nick and Luis approached the yacht on the Zodiac raft.
9. From the Zodiac raft, was it Nick who used the sniper rifle to defend the Abigail?

Answer: No

It was Nick who saw the armed people aboard, but it was Luis who shot them with the rifle. He shot two of the remaining three enemies aboard the yacht, and then Maddie used a crowbar to spear Reed from behind. Luis informed them all that without Strand, none of them were getting into Mexico. Arturo del Puerto played Luis.

"TD"- Colman said that the cast had been required to take a swim test in their ocean infinity pool. He said they all failed miserably.
10. At the end, who went out on the water and rescued Strand from his sinking raft?

Answer: Madison

His raft had lost its air, and he finally let go of it. He was floating on his back, looking very exhausted, when Maddie arrived to rescue him.

"TD"- Yvette Nicole Brown told Chris Hardwick that she believed it was Alex who'd informed Connor's group about all of their identities. She thought Connor's people had found Alex and Jake drifting on the ocean, and Alex (having no loyalty to the yacht group) survived by informing on the people aboard. I tend to agree with that theory.
