Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As our group was leaving town and heading out to open sea, the city of Los Angeles was bombed.

Answer: True

Strand, Nick, Alicia, and Ofelia got to the yacht first, and then Nick went back for his mother, Travis, Chris, and Liza's body as the military bombed the city. We knew this could happen when we learned last season that Operation Cobalt had been given the go ahead.

"Talking Dead" Fun Fact- the episode was filmed largely in Rosarito, Mexico, which is located on Baja California. The crew built a floating Abigail stage that was located in what amounted to a massive infinity pool on the Pacific Ocean. The raft they used to get to the yacht was a military raft called a Zodiac. Guests on "TD" were Cliff Curtis, musician Hozier, and Exec. Producer Dave Erickson. They talked several times about the bombing of Los Angeles. Hozier's song "Arsonist's Lullaby" was used in a season six episode of "The Walking Dead". It's a haunting song about being changed by your life experiences.
2. "I filled my mercy quota. Seven people saved to date. Be thankful." Who said this?

Answer: Strand

Maddie came to him to try and get him to stop the yacht. There was a raft full of people floating nearby, and she wanted to save them. When she asked him to stop, he said "that's funny". I agreed with his stance. Maddie, being like Rick used to be on "Walking Dead", was not there yet. He also told her if he stopped the boat it would to "drop folks off, not take them on".

Colman Domingo plays Victor Strand.
3. Who began communicating with other survivors by use of radio?

Answer: Alicia

Travis sent her onto that task in order to distract her from the survivors floating nearby. So, she tuned into channel 16 on the Uniden radio, which may not turn out to be the best use of her time...
4. Daniel and Chris fished from the side of the yacht.

Answer: True

Daniel was already fishing when Chris picked up a pole and joined in. Daniel asked him if he'd fished before, and he said he had. Travis taught him at Big Bear. Big Bear Lake is in the San Bernardino Mountains of California.

"Talking Dead"- That was actor Ruben Blades (Daniel) first time to fish in his life.
5. Which type of sea creature was caught and later served for dinner?

Answer: An eel

Daniel: "Eel. Not pretty, but the meat is good." They served the eel for dinner.

On "Talking Dead", a fan from the audience asked a question and received a fake eel platter like the one used during the dinner scene. "TD" host Chris Hardwick gives every fan who asks a question a gift from the set of the show, whichever show they are discussing. It could "Walking Dead", "Fear", or even "Better Call Saul".
6. Who offered to help Ofelia with her bandage?

Answer: Nick

She declined his offer. He told her if she put ointment directly onto the pad and then covered it, it would hurt less. And, ice was good for the pain... and vodka, lots of vodka. That almost elicited a smile from her.
7. Who said, "it was over before I knew it started... it was all over"?

Answer: Alicia

She was talking to her new friend on the radio. He told her that he was on his brother's boat, and they were more or less safe inside some cove, but wouldn't tell her where it was. When he asked where she was when it started, she hesitated, and then just used that quote.

He seemed so nice and friendly, but a little sad and resigned at their fates. She was right too; it was pretty much a done deal before she realized what was happening.
8. Daniel told Maddie, "if this is the end of the world, it's already over".

Answer: True

She was asking him what happens next, because he knew before how thing would turn out. That quote was his response. Then, they discussed Strand's trust-ability factor. I think a clue came earlier when Maddie called out to him, and he said "that's still my name". I thought "yeah, for now". Maddie and Daniel agreed to keep watch on him.
9. Who received a burial at sea?

Answer: Liza

They waited until they were way out, and it was at least 120 feet deep (Strand said 44 meters). Travis began eulogizing her, and after he stopped, Chris came over and abruptly sent his mother's body into the ocean.
10. We learned the name of the mysterious male survivor from the radio. What was it?

Answer: Jack

Alicia's new "pal" was named Jack, or so we learned in this episode. No credit was given for the person who voiced the character. Near the end, he told her their boat was sinking, and more or less tricked her into revealing their approximate location. He'd already found out too much about their situation. He claimed it was just he, his brother, and sister-in-law left on their boat, but it seemed unlikely. His last words to her, which sounded ominous to any fan of this world, were "It's okay Alicia. I got you. I'll see ya soon".

"Talking Dead"- the capsized boat at the end of the episode was called the Leanne.

The incorrect choices are characters from "Scandal".
