Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who did the priest blame for the death of his flock?

Answer: Celia

The small remainder of his parishioners received communion wafers as he preached about the test set before them. He was emphatic that it was not God who caused this problem (zombie virus apocalypse), but an evil testing them all. Then they exited the church and began gathering weapons to go after the "evil". Thomas Abigail drove up and warned them not to attack the compound, as they'd be dead before they reached the gates. He was right, of course, as Celia had poisoned the wafers. The priest told Thomas that their death was Celia's doing and Thomas was a good man who should not protect her.

Celia Flores was played by Marlene Forte. She has also appeared on "The Fosters", "Dallas" (2012), and "House of Payne".
2. Daniel tossed Luis' owl coin/amulet into the ocean.

Answer: True

Luis was shot and dying, and pleaded with Daniel not to stab him in the head. We later found out why, but in the meantime he had a coin or amulet with an owl on it that he wanted given to his mother. Instead, Daniel tossed it into the ocean. The owl is a symbol of Santa Muerte. The insinuation in the episode, was that Celia and Luis (and probably all on the compound) believed in life after death, and Santa Muerte plays into that in various ways.

"Talking Dead"- tonight's episode guest starred Mercedes Mason (Ofelia), comedian Jim Gaffigan, and actress Tamara Mowry-Housely. Right before the show started, Chris Hardwick spilled his coffee all over Mercedes' jeans, and she had to change her clothes. She was very good natured about it, but he felt awful.
3. Which of the yacht group killed the infected/walker priest?

Answer: Daniel

Strand saw Thomas' truck and immediately went inside the church to look for him. Right afterward, the group was accosted by the undead parishioners outside. It was Daniel who stopped the infected priest, as others handled various members of the congregation. Strand came back outside to help them stop the attack. And, Chris watched as Maddie was on the ground trying to fend off one of the undead. Thankfully, Alicia saw it, and saved her mom.

The scene panned onto a painted message as the group came on land. It read in Spanish "por un mejor manana", which translated to "for a better tomorrow". Irony?
4. Who said to Strand, "better late than never"?

Answer: Thomas

We'd seen in a previous episode's flashback that when Strand left for Los Angeles, he'd planned to return in two days. It had been more like ten to fourteen days at this point. So, when he finally made it back to a bitten Thomas, that was the greeting Strand received. Strand apologized to Thomas, who said that it was okay because he'd waited for him.

Juan was the little boy who Daniel discovered talking to his infected mother in the cellar. This prompted Daniel to confront Celia, near the end of the episode, and when she told him he needed to make peace with his dead. She may be a little crazy, but she wasn't wrong when she said that.
5. Who came into the kitchen to talk to Celia about Luis?

Answer: Nick

Even though dinner was still hours away, Celia fed Nick. Nick told her that Luis had been asking for her as he lay dying, and she thanked him for the information. She told Nick he had a "heavy smile", and he told her he was sick of all the killing. Celia told Nick that the dead had always been among them; the only difference now was that they could actually see them. Maddie walked in and said "that's a pretty big difference".

"TD"- Kim Dickens said that she wants Madison to be seen as the Rick Grimes of this group, and so far I'd say she has been.
6. Where did Daniel see the owl image carved on the compound?

Answer: In a tree

The carved owl overlooked the chicken wire and brick wall of photos. The photos were most likely of dead (or undead) people, as Celia came and added Luis' picture to it. She asked Daniel if he was praying, and he said no. This exchange between them revealed that Celia was not unlike Hershel from "TWD" early on, when he too believed the infected should be left as is. Celia told Daniel he needn't be sorry about Luis as long as Luis wasn't shot in the head.
7. Madison brought in a tray of food and drinks to Thomas and Strand.

Answer: True

I believe when she knocked and said who she was, Thomas asked Strand "do we like her"? Strand told Thomas that she was fierce. She came in and brought the tray, and introduced herself to Thomas. He apologized for not getting out of bed and said that under normal circumstances he was a "much better host". She said that under normal circumstances she was a much less intrusive guest. They had a small laugh when Strand said they both knew that was not true. Thomas asked her to look after Strand, and she replied that he wouldn't make it easy.

"TD"- Kim Dickens believes this scene shows that Madison and Strand really do care for one another, despite their continual head butting moments. They are both fierce with an intense survival instinct, so that can cause friction in a world like this.
8. Did Strand promise Thomas he'd die with him?

Answer: Yes

He agreed to die and turn, and let Celia watch over both of them. Celia was wholeheartedly in approval of this, as she'd never thought Strand was good enough for Thomas before this point. She brought them two poisoned wafers. Thomas said that Strand's offer was "very Shakespearean" (nod to "Romeo and Juliet"), but he couldn't let Strand do it.

In the end, Strand convinced Thomas to agree, but in the end of Thomas's life, Strand did not join him in death.
9. Who joined Ofelia at the chicken wire and brick alter of loved ones, when she went to talk to her mother?

Answer: Nick

He made a joke that when a woman wants you to join her, but won't tell you where you are going, she's always taking you to Jesus. Ofelia asked Nick when the last time was when he was inside a church, and he said he couldn't remember. Then, of course, he did remember. It was the day the world ended, when he awoke to find his undead drug buddy Gloria eating someone inside their abandoned church. After she was done, Ofelia thanked Nick for coming with her.

"TD"- Mercedes Mason said she believed Ofelia's biggest fear was being alone.
10. Who came into Alicia's room and picked up a knife at the end of the episode?

Answer: Chris

Earlier in the episode, Chris had seemingly threatened Alicia when she confronted him about watching her mother be attacked. He said he just froze in that moment, and never wanted to hurt anyone. He told her she couldn't tell anyone what she'd seen, as it would ruin their family.

She asked what would happen if she did tell, and he repeated that he didn't want to hurt anyone. Upon my first viewing, it did seem as though he was threatening Alicia. Watching it again, I realized Chris seemed deeply in shock from recent events, and what he most likely meant when he said "I don't wanna hurt anyone" was another attempt to plead his case or assuage her fears.

It seemed less threatening. And, in his final scene, when he came to the room, he called out to Alicia before he entered. I doubt he'd try to alert her if he planned to hurt her, and he didn't look malicious or suspicious in his eyes.

She and Maddie awoke when the gunshot went off, and Alicia ordered Chris out of the room. Strand had shot Thomas to prevent him from turning.
