Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Whom do we see crash their Camaro in a flashforward scene?

Answer: Hurley

This first episode of the fourth season largely revolves around Hurley. As Hurley was captured by pursuing police officers, Hurley shouted that he was a member of the "Oceanic Six." This scene is a preview of the future, presented in the form of a "flashforward." We have seen this technique employed in the third season.
2. Back on the island, Kate asks Jack what he will do if he sees Locke again. How does Jack reply?

Answer: He's going to kill him.

Locke's deception and incomprehensible destructive acts have taken their toll on Jack. Jack, perhaps, perceives Naomi's murder as the final straw, and really does intend to do Locke in.
3. In an episode replete with dichotomy and dilemmas, Jack and Kate argue about the direction they should go in order to find Naomi. Who ultimately finds Naomi?

Answer: Kate

Perhaps, Kate's inherent tracking instinct correctly alerts her to the proper trail. Jack and Rousseau follow a false trail. Naomi has been fatally wounded, but she manages to communicate a final message to George and also gives George a clear tracking signal.
4. Who breaks the sad news to Hurley that Charlie is dead?

Answer: Desmond

Hurley's spirits have been lifted at the prospect of rescue, and the fact that he will be free from the curse of the lottery. He tells Bernard that he is going to do a cannonball in the surf. After emerging from the water, Hurley sees Desmond arrive on the beach. Desmond is frantically telling everybody that the people on the freighter are not to be believed, based on Charlie's message, "Not Penny's Boat." Hurley demands to know the whereabouts of Charlie. Desmond sadly reveals to Hurley the fate of Charlie.
5. Sawyer wants to contact Jack with the news brought by Desmond. What happens to prevent contact with Jack?

Answer: Hurley grabs the walkie-talkie and throws it in the ocean.

In a move that is more characteristic of Locke, Hurly grabs the walkie-talkie from Sawyer and hurls it in the ocean. Naturally, Sawyer is nonplussed.
6. "Are they still alive?" Who says this in the mental hospital?

Answer: Matthew

Matthew has come to visit Hurley in the mental hospital, claiming to be a representative of Oceanic Airlines. Matthew offers to transfer Hurley to a better facility, but Hurley indicates that he is content to be where he is. Matthew's questions become more probing and Hurley is suspicious.

When Matthew asks Hurley if they are still alive, Hurley panics and calls for the nurse. Matthew deftly exits the facility.
7. While Hurley is enjoying some time outside, sitting on a bench at the mental hospital, a fellow patient tells Hurley that someone is staring at him. Who is this mysterious visitor?

Answer: Charlie

In what may be a hallucination, a figment of Hurley's fervent imagination, or an apparition, Hurley has a conversation with Charlie. Hurley's imaginary friend, Dave, appeared to be just as real as Charlie. In any case, Hurley closes his eyes and counts to five, after which, Charlie disappears. The message that Charlie conveys to Hurley is, "They need you."
8. Hurley has become separated from the rest of the group trying to make contact with Jack. What does Hurley encounter while away from the group?

Answer: Jacob's cabin

Perhaps, as evidence of Hurley's particular connection to the island's unique features, Hurley, inadvertently finds Jacob's cabin. The images that Hurley finds there are too much to bear, so Hurley runs off in a panic. Locke finds Hurley and they discuss the message actually received from Charlie. Hurley had only learned of this message from Desmond.

It is based on this knowledge that they form a bond, of sorts, and proceed.
9. Jack had sworn to kill Locke in the event that they would meet again. Jack has the opportunity when he wrests a gun from Locke's belt. Does Jack, in fact, point the gun at Locke and pull the trigger?

Answer: Yes

Surprisingly enough, Jack points the gun at Locke and pulls the trigger. Fortunately, for Locke, the gun is not loaded. This turn of events created a stir among those around them. Jack is adamant about getting off the island and it seems that Locke has thwarted his efforts at every turn.
10. Jack and Locke have vied for leadership of the group for quite some time. It has come time for the group to commit to whomever they trust the most. With whom does Sawyer align?

Answer: Locke

In a quizzical scene, Sawyer parts from Kate, and decides to take his chances with Locke. Locke is headed for the barracks, where he claims, they will have the most security. Sawyer is one who thinks for himself, not easily persuaded by others, and he tells Kate that he is doing the same thing that he has always done ... "survivin."
