The press conference continued, throughout this episode, and the opening scene consisted of a question where a reporter asked if it was possible anyone else survived the island. Sayid spoke up and said that was absolutely not a possibility. The person did not ask Sayid to elaborate on anything and it was considered an answered question.

The episode opened up in a flash forward with Jack, Kate, Sun, Sayid, and Hurley, on a plane, and the pilot was planning to land it. Jack woke up right as she was talking.

She went to the mirror and applied her lipstick before her date showed up to her home. We found out the woman's name was Emily and her mom disapproved of Emily dating a man that was twice her age. When Emily went outside, she was hit by a car.

The episode opened up and we saw Sayid, meditating on the island. Sayid opened his eyes and saw Jack and Juliet talking about Ben. Sayid got up when he saw Miles asking Jack and Juliet if they knew where Ben was and he went over to Naomi's dead body and closed her eyes.

At the very beginning of the episode, someone jumped from a helicopter and he started to hear sounds from within the trees of the island. He got panicked and got out his gun. Just then, Jack and Kate appeared and Jack asked the guy who he was. He introduced himself as Dan Faraday and said he was there to rescue them all from the island.

Jack was shocked to see that it was Hurley who got chased by the police. This scene was a flash forward and showed that Jack and Hurley would be part of the "Oceanic Six", the six people from the island who would live.

The episode opened up with Frank and some other man talking about completing a certain task. Frank walked through the freighter and came upon a woman named Regina (she said her name) but she did not see him coming so she was scared. Regina was seen reading a book on survival techniques.

The episode opened, with a flashback, in which Juliet sitting in her home waiting for someone. The person she waited for was Harper Stanhope, a therapist who was going to help her. Juliet told her she did not feel like she needed therapy but Harper told her to consider it just talking and not therapy. Juliet noted, to Harper, that she did not like being treated like a celebrity.

The episode began with Jack sleeping and Juliet came up to him to wake him up. Jack has a blurred vision but made out Juliet telling him that some people were arguing about getting off the island. Jack went down to settle the argument and, once it was settled, he promised them he would get them off the island.

In a previous season, Michael brought four other survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 to The Others so he could reunite with his son, Walt, whom the Others kidnapped. Soon after this, Michael and Walt went to New York City and Michael let Walt's grandmother take care of him. In this episode, Michael returned to the island and told Sayid that he was on a boat to die. Michael, in fact, died when he was caught in an explosion.

Jack says, "There's no such thing as miracles."

Emily, after a heated discussion with her mother, about Emily's choice of boyfriends, dashes into the rainy night, headlong into the path of a car. As the nurse wheels the baby out of the room, Emily exclaims, "But, name him John. Please! His name is John!"

The scene opens up showing the sky and the camera pans back into the plane. One of the pilots asks Mrs. Decker to inform the passengers they are going to be landing. When Mrs. Decker enters the back and tells them they will be landing, the camera cuts over to a close-up of Jack, then pans over to Hurley. As Mrs. Decker is explaining the details of the landing, the camera cuts over to show close-ups of Kate and Sun, followed by Sayid. It's not until the camera pulls back and shows us all six of them together, do we see Kate is holding Aaron.

Answer: Jack has appendicitis.

Juliet consults with Jack about his symptoms. Jack seems reluctant to admit that his condition may be serious. Juliet, respectfully disagrees with Jack's self-diagnosis of food poisoning. Juliet is certain that Jack has appendicitis and recommends an immediate appendectomy.

In this episode's 'flash-forwards', we learn that Sun is the sixth person of "The Oceanic Six". Throughout the episode it looks as if both Sun and Jin have made it off the island (which would make it 7 survivors) but it is finally revealed that Jin was appearing in 'flash-backs' not 'flash-forwards'.

Frank is perhaps, the most cordial member of the boat, and brings food to Desmond and Sayid, who happen to be locked away in a cabin. Frank empties the contents of his bag onto the bed. It is full of cans of Lima beans. Sayid, somewhat dismayed at the sight of his repast, says, "Lima beans?" Frank replies, "Sorry, we had a little problem in the kitchen. Just stay put, alright?"

Ben is locked in the basement of his prior home. Locke selects "VALIS," by Philip K. Dick, for Ben's reading pleasure. Ben indicates that he has already read it, however, Locke suggests that Ben read it again, and says, "You might catch something you missed the second time around." VALIS stands for Vast Active Living Intelligence System, and the book of the same name is book one in a trilogy. As all books seen are hints about the nature of the series and its mysteries, this book may hint at the supernatural aspects that inhabit the island.

The Seychelles comprise a group of islands located in the Indian Ocean. We see Sayid playing a round of golf, when another player approaches him, and offers to give Sayid a ride to the next hole. A bet ensues about which may be the best club to use to get closest to the pin. During the course of their conversation, Sayid reveals himself to be one of the Oceanic Six. In a somewhat startling turn of events, Sayid shoots the man, and leaves the course.

This first episode of the fourth season largely revolves around Hurley. As Hurley was captured by pursuing police officers, Hurley shouted that he was a member of the "Oceanic Six." This scene is a preview of the future, presented in the form of a "flashforward." We have seen this technique employed in the third season.

Answer: John Locke

Viewers were shocked when, at the end of this episode (the season finale of season four), Locke was seen in a casket. Since this was a flash forward moment, his death did not immediately happen and he would be around for season five. In season five, there were some instances where Locke contemplated suicide but he never went through in killing himself. Terry O'Quinn originated the role of John Locke on "Lost" and won a Primetime Emmy for the role in 2007.

During the flash forward, it was Kate that was holding him while he was on the helicopter. During season four, Claire was involved in a plane crash and she was presumed dead but she was alive. While she was presumed dead, Kate began to care for Aaron. Kate told Claire's mother, Carole, that Claire was alive and that she would go back to the island, where Claire was, to get her to return to Aaron.
