Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tyrion was able to convince Daenerys not to kill Jorah. What was his punishment instead?

Answer: Removal from Meereen

Jorah tried to speak to her, but she wouldn't allow it. Instead, she spoke with Tyrion. He let her know many things. He said he killed his mother on the day he was born, his father with a bolt to the heart, and so he was the "greatest Lannister killer of all time".

He then told her a story he'd heard about her, from the time she was a baby onward. Tyrion also convinced Daenerys that Jorah was not the same man as when he began spying on her for Robert Baratheon. He insisted Jorah was committed to her success, and that Tyrion had never seen anyone as devoted as Jorah to her.

He also conceded that Jorah could not be by her side when she tried to claim the throne. But, she had to inspire devotion to win what she sought, and killing Jorah would not do that.
2. Jaqen and Arya were seen practicing her story. It was a story she'd use to garner trust in someone on the docks of Braavos in Ragman Harbor. In her story she talked of buying her first bucket of _______. What food item is correct?

Answer: Oysters

Arya had learned that to tell a convincing story, she had to see it in her mind and believe it in her heart.

Arya: "My name is Lana. I'm an orphan. When I was eight, I begged enough money to buy my first bucket of oysters. I sold that bucket. I made enough money to buy two more. It took awhile, but I finally saved enough to buy myself an oyster cart. Now, every morning I make my way down to the canals. I pass the fishmongers and the bakers. I usually see Lhara, my first customer of the day, on her way home. Then, I turn left onto Moonsinger Lane (she was stopped here by Jaqen with a tap on her hand)...turn left onto Ragman Lane, where I do most of my trade."

Sarine Sofair played Lhara.
3. Who visited Cersei in her cell to let her know that the High Sparrow would be "presenting a substantial case" against her at trial?

Answer: Qyburn

He also told her, at her request, that the charges against her were fornication, treason, incest and the murder of King Robert. She said they were all lies, but they were all true. All of her children who'd lived were fathered by Jaime, her twin brother. Her one child with Robert died after birth, probably at her own hands. During this visit, Qyburn told Cersei that her Uncle Kevan had been brought back by Grand Maester Pycelle to serve as Hand of the King. Kevan was also the father of Lancel Lannister, who'd told all of Cersei's dirty secrets to the septons and septas.

Anton Lesser played Qyburn. The character first appeared in the season three premier.
4. Theon admitted to Sansa that her brothers, Bran and Rickon, were not the young boys he'd killed and burned.

Answer: True

Sansa had believed she'd lost her entire family. Not long before this revelation about Bran and Rickon, she'd learned her brother Jon Snow was still alive. Now, Theon let it slip he had not killed Bran and Rickon, but two farm boys. He had not been able to find the Stark brothers, and killed and burned the other two boys so no one would know they were still alive.
5. What was Roose's strategy against Stannis and his army?

Answer: Wait for them to freeze, starve and mutiny

Roose told his council that they had six months of food inside Winterfell and walls too high to conquer. His strategy was to just wait them out, as they would freeze, starve and mutiny. Ramsay, unsurprisingly, wanted to make a statement by attacking hard and fast. He thought it would show northerners how strong House Bolton was against its enemies. He told his father all he'd need was twenty men.

I have not read the books, so I look forward if it is ever revealed what made Ramsay so hungry for violence. I suspect Roose has to be the reason.
6. "My father publicly sentenced me to death. I'd say his thoughts on having me killed were abundantly clear." Who was Tyrion talking to during this exchange?

Answer: Daenerys

She'd just asked if he found her worthy of his council, and in return, he asked if she'd decided on having him killed. She said it was probably her safest bet, and Tyrion commented that it's what her father (the Mad King) would have done. She then asked what his father would have done.

He also told her that if she decided not to kill him, he'd one day tell her the story of why he killed his father.
7. "Try not to worry Olly. I've been worrying about Jon for years. He always comes back." Whose quote was this?

Answer: Sam's

Olly had come to Sam to ask if Sam thought Jon was doing the right thing by enlisting help from the Wildlings at Hardhome. Sam assured Olly that Jon knew what he was doing. He told Olly that he'd seen the army of White Walkers and that they would need help to defeat them.
8. Tormund attacked Lord of Bones after he and Jon arrived at Hardhome.

Answer: True

The man was impeding their attempts to reason with the other Wildlings. Tormund told the man they should gather the others and go somewhere quiet to talk. Lord of Bones said "you don't give the orders here". Tormund said, "I'm not giving an order". When Jon told the man he and Tormund were now allies, Lord of Bones called Tormund a traitor. Then, the man made a rather graphic comment on the nature of Tormund's relationship with Jon. So, Tormund took his weapon and beat him with it. It was unclear to me if the man had been killed, but he was hit many times by Tormund. I assume if he lived, it was not for long.

We did not see his face, but Ross O'Hennessy played Lord of Bones in this episode.
9. Who was Tormund talking about? "He's prettier than both my daughters, but he knows how to fight. He's young, but he knows how to lead. He didn't have to come to Hardhome. He came because he needs us. And, we need him."

Answer: Jon

Jon had admitted to killing Mance, and Loboda suggested sending Jon back to Castle Black without his eyes. Tormund stepped in and told the story of Jon sparing Mance from being burned alive by Stannis. Karsi told Tormund she trusted him. The giant also sided with Tormund.
10. Did Jon make it out of Hardhome alive?

Answer: Yes

The village was attacked by wights as Jon, Tormund and their Wildling allies tried to sail away. Dogs started barking first, alerting at the attack to come. The wights seemed to almost fly over the mountains that backed up Hardhome, they moved so fast.

It appeared as though Jon arrived a bit too late. Not nearly enough Wildlings escaped the attack. Jon was able to kill a White Walker with his sword Longclaw before he, Tollett and Tormund got to the boat.
