Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. During the first week of the competition, what political stance was not embodied by any of the girls during the photo shoot?

Answer: Republican/Democrat

After nearly three dozen girls headed to Los Angeles for a Top Model Boot Camp session, the playing field was pared down to thirteen lucky ladies (including two plus-size models) over the course of a week. These thirteen later moved into their new digs in Los Angeles, a luxurious house themed around past seasons of the show. For their first challenge, the girls had to go to Goodwill to shop for their individual styles (in only three minutes) before walking a runway.

The shoot for this week involved the girls taking on risque political subject matter and although Jael's 'Pro-Life' photo was poorly done, she was saved over Kathleen's Anti-Fur shot because she won the challenge.
2. In the third week of the competition, who was informed that their friend died of an overdose?

Answer: Jael

In weeks two and three, the girls continued with new shoots and challenges. During the second week, they had a prom-themed challenge and then returned to high school for their shoot. Samantha was sent home. Week three was punctuated by the girls' makeovers and a phone call to Jael in which she learned about her friend's drug overdose.

This revelation would put the competition into a new perspective for her and greatly affect subsequent shoots. After a challenge with "Seventeen" magazine and Cover Girl, the models posed nude and Cassandra was sent home at the judging panel.
3. During a challenge with Benny Ninja in week four, the girls learned which specific posing style?

Answer: Voguing

In the fourth week of competition, the girls met with famous poser/voguer Benny Ninja who taught the girls to extend their bodies for greater shots and had them pose their way through a laser maze for a chance to win an expensive diamond bracelet. Only Renee was unable to complete the laser course; Whitney won the prize.

The girls threw this training aside for the photo shoot. For this week, the girls had to pose as if they were dead. Felicia allegedly didn't pose dead enough for her shoot (where she was supposed to be decapitated) and she was sent home.
4. In week five, the girls had to pose as men; what type of man did Natasha pose as (wowing the judges with her independent choices)?

Answer: Hip-hop

When week five arrived, the girls were given style advice from Cathy Gould, the editor for "Seventeen" magazine, and some of the other girls inadvertently gave Sarah the win. Her reward was inevitably given during the photo shoot; this week, the girls had to pose with drag queens.

Their partners posed as women while they posed as men under a specific theme. Sarah ended up getting to reshoot all of her photos with tips from Jay Manuel. During the shoot, Natasha got particular kudos for taking the photos one step further (she created her own grill and used a toothpick to get into character). During the judging, the two plus-sized models were called up for elimination and Whitney was spared over Diana.
5. During week six, the girls had to give themselves nicknames. Which was not one of them?

Answer: Jojo

During week six, the girls ended up meeting with Twiggy who, along with Melrose from cycle seven, persuaded some of the girls to change their names for the sake of modelling. While some opted to take on crazy names or childhood nicknames, others, like Jaslene and Jael, ended up keeping their original names.

After this, the girls went to an industry party featuring a number of celebrities and, after meeting with Tyra's manager, Benny Medina, Dionne (who took the name Wholihay) won a spread for Keds Shoes in "Seventeen" magazine.

The shoot for this week asked the girls to take four different shots showing different sides of their personality; they were allowed to use their own hair and make-up for this one. At the judging ceremony, Jael's strong shots were commended while Sarah went home.
6. During the seventh week of the competition, the girls had to take shots based on key moments of earlier cycles of the show. Which was not included?

Answer: Tyra's outburst against Tiffany

After acting challenges with Tia Mowry and Efren Ramirez, the girls were told to get into character for a photo shoot revisiting past scandalous and shocking moments from "America's Next Top Model's" past cycles. Some of these included having twin models in cycle 7, and Shannon's refusal to do a nude shoot in cycle 1. To the surprise of the other girls, the featured girls from previous seasons joined them in the shoots.

At the judging panel, Whitney, the only remaining plus-sized model, went home due to an uninspired shot; the judges felt that she didn't translate to film despite her in-person beauty.
7. In week 8, the final six girls left the country. Which country did they head to?

Answer: Australia

The girls started week eight by meeting with cycle 2's April who taught them how to interview people in front of a camera. Their new skills weren't put to use until after Tyra informed the girls (in a kangaroo costume) that they would be heading to Sydney, Australia. Upon touching down, the girls met with the host of "Australia's Next Top Model", Erika Heynatz, who sent the girls out to interview people with Aussie slang. Natasha ended up winning this challenge and a chance to be a correspondent on "The Tyra Banks Show".

This week, the girls filmed a Cover Girl commercial and, after poor acting during the shoot, Jael went home leaving only five girls in the competition.
8. In week nine, the girls had their go-sees. Which girl accomplished a first for the show, receiving no potential interest from the visited designers?

Answer: Brittany

For week nine the girls were taught the ins and outs of go-sees, heading to several spots around Sydney and meeting with designers. They were told to return to their home base by 4:30 and only three of the five girls completed this task (with Jaslene winning). Brittany, who blamed her driver for the issues throughout the day, was regarded as the worst and was later determined to have been passed up by all of the designers. For their shoot this week, the girls had to pose for a womens magazine and again for a mens magazine on an Australian beach. Brittany went home after judging, mainly because of her showings during the go-sees.
9. During the tenth week of the competition, the remaining girls decided to gang up against which girl who arrived at the photo shoot feeling sick?

Answer: Natasha

In this penultimate week of the competition, the girls headed out into the bush (some in wedge heels) to learn about the Aboriginal mode of storytelling. All of the girls were required to paint themselves and perform a dance telling the stories of their lives. Renee won and received pearls as her reward. Natasha, who didn't dress for the occasion, got sick and faltered during the next photo shoot, an Aboriginal dance-themed photo session where each of the girls had to learn a native dance. During the judging panel, the other three girls called out Natasha for being the weakest, but the judges felt this may have been jealousy.

They sent Dionne home instead.
10. Who won cycle eight of "America's Next Top Model"?

Answer: Jaslene

During the final week, the three remaining girls had their commercial for Cover Girl Cosmetics and were asked to ad lib part of their performances. After the challenge, Renee was sent home because the judges felt she looked too old to win and that the other two had more potential.
Natasha and Jaslene were ultimately whisked off to their fashion show, an evolution-themed production sparked by a few problems for both girls. Soon, the judges had a choice to make between Natasha and Jaslene.
Ultimately, Jaslene was chosen to win the contract with Elite Model Management. She also walked away with a full spread and cover with "Seventeen" magazine and a contract with Cover Girl Cosmetics worth $100,000. After the show Jaslene continued to show in print and runway works before appearing on Spanish-language TV.
