Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The girls' casting week was held in which entertaining city?

Answer: Las Vegas

This cycle, a large group of girls headed to Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas for their goddess-themed casting week in which Tyra and the two Jays narrowed the field down to a baker's dozen. The thirteen girls were then flown to New York City to live in their luxurious top model townhouse and, shortly after, they walked in a fashion show for Abaeté. For their first shoot, the models dressed up as schoolgirl versions of themselves to act out various schoolyard games and pose for the camera. Doe-eyed Allison was said to have the best photo while Isabella, who claimed to have epilepsy before the runway show, was eliminated early.
2. During the second photo shoot of the competition, the models worked with Nigel Barker in an attempt to do which of the following?

Answer: Catch the light

After the first elimination, the girls met at a salon for their makeovers. While some girls were changed drastically, some didn't really change at all since Tyra claimed they were already modelesque in appearance. For their later challenge, the girls worked with Cover Girl artists to create looks for random people.

In the shoot this week, the girls worked with not only Jay Manuel, but judging panel member Nigel Barker as well. For the shoot, the girls were handed flashing light sticks and asked to pose to flatter themselves in the photos. Teyona was given the top honour while Jessica was eliminated.
3. In week three, the girls took their shots atop which of these?

Answer: Double-decker bus

Following a runway lesson with none other than Miss Jay Alexander, the girls were booked for a unique runway show with Jill Stuart. This challenge, judged by Stuart and "Seventeen" editor-in-chief Ann Shoket, was won by Natalie. This week, the girls boarded a New York City double-decker tour bus for their shoot and partnered up to take shots themed around trendy city neighbourhoods. During the judging panel, many of the girls were criticized for not looking authentic. Sandra was deemed the best while Nijah was cut from the competition.
4. In week four and five, Celia faced harsh criticism from the judges when she decided to call which other contestant out for wanting to quit the competition?

Answer: Tahlia

Weeks four and five were punctuated by two completely different shoots. One was done on Ellis Island with an old-time camera and the girls posed as immigrants; the other was a shoot in which they needed to use their faces specifically in colour-themed beauty shots. Most of this took a backseat, however, because at the end of the judging ceremony in week four, Celia stepped up to the judges and admitted that Tahlia said she no longer wanted to be in the competition.

This came back to haunt her-- in the following week, fights erupted in the models' house and Celia ended up in the bottom two despite a respectable shot.

She and Tahlia were both spared from elimination.
5. In week six, the final eight girls acted in a Cover Girl commercial, but before this, they were trained to act by which singer/Broadway actor?

Answer: Clay Aiken

Going into week six, the girls were surprised with acting lessons with Paulina Porizkova. After tapping into their emotional sides, they got to meet and act with "American Idol" alumnus Clay Aiken, who also appeared on Broadway in "Spamalot". London was declared the winner but she gave away most of her prize-- several pairs of jeans-- because she claimed to be gaining weight.

The shoot this week was actually a commercial shoot for Cover Girl Foundation and, while some girls performed adequately, most were criticized. Tahlia was sent home as she was far and away the worst on camera.
6. The final seven ended up performing in a photo shoot with R&B singer Ciara. Which model, who claimed to have gained fifteen pounds, was eliminated because of her weight?

Answer: London

This week was all about the creative process. For their challenge, the models were told by Jay Manuel that they would have fifteen minutes to create a look for a fellow contestant and direct them through a photo shoot for South Pole Junior. Teyona won the challenge directing Celia even though it was said she didn't pick the best shot. Both appeared in a spread for "Seventeen" magazine.

The shoot this time around involved posing with R&B musician Ciara on a stage; the model had to be tangled in microphone wires while portraying a superfan. During the judging (and the shoot) London was asked about her more concerning weight gain.

She was subsequently sent packing.
7. What country was the international destination in this cycle?

Answer: Brazil

When the girls were whittled down to the final six in week eight, they flew to the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil where they were introduced to Fernanda Motta and checked into their new digs in the city, a special 'Top Model' loft. The girls had a photo challenge in which they needed to make Capoeira, a martial art, modelesque in front of the camera. Fo won and received 50% more frames while, in turn, taking them from Teyona. For their next photo shoot, the girls had to modernize their own versions of Carmen Miranda and Natalie was sent home for not improving and standing out in the competition.
8. When the final five went on go-sees in week nine, how many of the girls did not return to their agency before their deadline?

Answer: Two

As usual, the girls went on foreign go-sees, this time in the city of Sao Paulo. With a list of designers to visit and a time to return, they were asked to visit as many as they wanted and the girl who booked the most would win. Celia and Fo returned late (Celia by only one minute) and missed out on a helicopter ride over the city. Teyona won the challenge, winning designer outfits.

The shoot this week, done by Nigel Barker, involved posing in provocative Brazilian swimsuits in different beach scenes. Fo was ultimately eliminated since she was the shortest girl and, as a result, failed to book a single go-see.
9. When Tyra shot the final four girls in the jungles of Brazil, they needed to pose as which 'high-fashion' animals?

Answer: Birds

In the penultimate week, the final four girls learned to samba alongside Paulina Porizkova who, in her lesson, tried to show the girls how to fake something they didn't know to make it work for the camera. Celia won the challenge, sharing expensive jewellery with Allison. For their shoot this week, the girls were whisked off into the jungle to get their photos taken by none other than Tyra who, in a stroke of brilliance, decided to pose them as birds in different nests. During judging, Celia was sent home on the basis that she didn't look 'fresh' enough to be the next top model.
10. Who was the winner of "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 12?

Answer: Teyona

In the final week, the final three girls had their customary Cover Girl photo shoot and commercial, this time for Outlast Lipstain. Aminat was sent home in third place because Teyona's track record was stronger than hers. For their final runway show, the two remaining competitors battled it out in a high fashion swimsuit presentation. Both impressed the judges but, when it came down to the final judging, Teyona was deemed the stronger candidate and the winner of this cycle. After the show, Teyona received her prizes-- the $100,000 contract from Cover Girl, a cover and spread in "Seventeen" magazine, and a contract with Elite Model Management.

She continued to model internationally due to her stellar look, especially with in-style designers.
