Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To whom was Jimmy speaking in episode 3.1 "Mabel" when he said "I get it, wax on, wax off, Mr. Miyagi, 'Karate Kid'"?

Answer: Chuck

Jimmy was helping Chuck remove the foil from the walls of Chuck's home, and Chuck wasn't pleased that Jimmy was just ripping the tape off. He told Jimmy to "use a little finesse" and gently roll the tape off, left then right to prevent tearing up the wood. Jimmy made the above quote and was surprised that Chuck had a blank look on his face as if he didn't know what Jimmy was talking about. Later in the season, Jimmy used the same technique to remove the tape from the logo he painted at his office.
2. In episode 3.2 "Witness", about whom was Jimmy speaking when he said, "She worked at the DMV - that's like the fifth circle of Hell"?

Answer: Francesca

Francesca was the first candidate that Jimmy and Kim interviewed for their receptionist position, and Jimmy jumped the gun by asking her if she could start right away. Kim then spoke to Jimmy in private and told him that she wanted to interview more candidates, particularly as Francesca had no legal experience. Jimmy pointed out that Kim hadn't been able to find a suitable paralegal because she was searching for perfection while bypassing adequate candidates. "So that's the bar here - adequate?" asked Kim. "She's more than adequate", responded Jimmy, adding the above quote.
3. In episode 3.3 "Sunk Costs", Jimmy told Chuck, "Here's what's gonna happen. One day you're gonna get sick again. One of your employees is gonna find you curled up in that space blanket, take you to the hospital, hook you up to those machines that beep and whir and hurt. And this time, it'll be too much. And you will die there. Alone." Where was Jimmy at the time?

Answer: Outside Chuck's house, waiting to be arrested

Chuck's plan for the cassette tape of Jimmy's confession was to let Jimmy know that it existed and then have him arrested when he broke into Chuck's house during the night to get the tape. It didn't exactly go down the way Chuck expected. Jimmy showed up during the day and kicked the door in when Chuck wouldn't open it.

Afterwards, Chuck smugly told Jimmy, "Here's what's going to happen" and proceeded to explain that Jimmy would be arrested, with Chuck pressing charges against him, but it was all for his own good. Chuck said that someday in the future, Jimmy might be grateful that this had happened. Jimmy then responded with his version of the "Here's what's going to happen" speech. Chuck stared at him in horror but didn't get a chance to respond because the police car pulled up, and Jimmy said, "Here's my ride".
4. To whom did Jimmy say, "You, my friend, are the Ansel Adams of covert photography" in episode 3.4 "Sabrosito"?

Answer: Mike

Jimmy (with Kim's help) had arranged for Mike to replace the workman who was scheduled to repair Chuck's door. After Mike managed to get Chuck upstairs with the constant whirring of a drill, Mike took photos of the inside of Chuck's house. Mike and Jimmy later met up at a diner where Jimmy looked through the photos.

He commended Mike with the above quote, but added "at some point, we should probably discuss the rule of thirds". Jimmy was particularly impressed with a photo that showed the lantern on top of a stack of "Financial Times": "That tells the whole story".
5. In episode 3.5 "Chicanery", to whom did Jimmy respond, "Alright, alrighty Jacques Cousteau, point made" after being told: "This is a living creature. It's not a piece of furniture. So after this, you take her home. You put her in a big bowl - at least a gallon"?

Answer: The vet

Jimmy needed someone to plant a battery on Chuck, so Mike must have set Jimmy up with the vet. Since he had to bring a creature to the clinic, Jimmy brought a fish in a plastic bag. The vet chewed him out for not having enough oxygen in the bag for the fish, and when Jimmy cracked a joke, the vet lectured him about the fish being a living creature. That drew the above response from Jimmy.

However the next time we saw the fish, it was in a big bowl in Jimmy's office.
6. To whom did Jimmy say, "Somebody call the Pope because according to your summation, I ought to be a saint - me and Mother Teresa" in episode 3.6 "Off Brand"?

Answer: Kim

Jimmy made the quote as Kim and he were drinking champagne following the conclusion of the disbarment hearing. "Saint Jimmy - yeah, that has a nice ring to it", replied Kim. Kim had presented a glowing summation in which she pointed out that Jimmy's practice was devoted to helping the elderly "an under-served community" -- "He took the time to make sure that they had wills that accurately reflected their wishes at a price that they could afford".

She also pointed out that for three years, he had devoted himself to caring for his brother - she even mentioned the mylar-lined suit Jimmy had made while Chuck's "irrational animus towards his brother had grew to epic proportions".
7. In episode 3.7 "Expenses", we actually had a Saul Goodman quote (well, a Jimmy McGill quote using the Saul Goodman persona to sell advertising). After the owners of a music store balked at the time slot for a commercial, Jimmy said, "Those social security checks got to be spent somewhere". What TV show was airing during the time slot?

Answer: Murder, She Wrote

The Sklar brothers portrayed the owners of the music store, and they were having second thoughts about filming the commercial because of the cost and because they weren't thrilled with the time slot, which was during "Murder, She Wrote" reruns. Since the commercials were originally intended for Jimmy's elder law practice, he had purchased time during senior-friendly shows. Jimmy told the music store owners that they were missing an opportunity; grandparents have money to spend on instruments for their grandchildren, and then he made the quip about the social security checks.
8. Far be it for Jimmy to judge someone else's employment. In episode 3.8 "Slip", to whom did he say: "A man's gotta make a living - I'm just saying the way you make yours rhymes with mug mealer"?

Answer: A fellow community service worker

Jimmy didn't believe the man's story about needing to leave community service early to see his sick kid; he thought the man was trying to get to a drug deal: "You're trying to sell something you shouldn't have to someone who shouldn't be buying it". But he was willing to help the guy out for $700: "I'm the guy who's gonna get you out of here and let you keep your hours".

The man claimed he didn't have that much money, but Jimmy said that he had "several grand in [his] sock". After Jimmy pulled his "I'm gonna sue you" con on the foreman, the drug dealer gladly handed over the $700.
9. Where was Jimmy when he made the comment: "B-9! Let's hope that biopsy comes back benign!" in episode 3.9 "Fall"?

Answer: Hosting Sandpiper "Bingo"

As he did in season one, Jimmy was back at Sandpiper hosting "Bingo", and as with season one, he had some clever quotes for the numbers. Whereas he hosted Bingo in the earlier season to generate business, here he had a more nefarious reason; he had rigged the game to give Irene a win to further irritate her friends.

It worked - Irene left the game in tears when no one applauded her win, and when Jimmy went to comfort her, he told her that the reason her friends were so cold could possibly be because she hadn't accepted the settlement offer.
10. In episode 3.10 "Lantern", Jimmy told Davis and Main attorney Erin Brill that "if the only thing standing between me and a million bucks is some old lady's tears, then I suggest investing in Kleenex". Who overheard the comment?

Answer: Sandpiper residents

Jimmy had turned Sandpiper resident Irene Landry's friends against her to force her to accept the Sandpiper settlement offer, and no matter what Jimmy did, he was unable to reconcile Irene with her friends. As part of his self-imposed penance following Kim's car accident, Jimmy decided to sacrifice himself.

He apparently contacted Erin and asked her to play along with him; the two would have a private conversation while he had "accidentally" left a microphone on. During the conversation, he belittled the seniors he had worked so well with in his elder law practice, but the ploy had the intended results: Irene and her friends heard the conversation, and they realized they'd been played. Later, Jimmy told Kim that he'd have to find a new business model because the seniors were bashing his name across the southwest.
