Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of the episode, what did Mike give his granddaughter Kaylee, which he talked Stacey into keeping?

Answer: A dog

In the "RICO" episode, we saw Mike show up at the veterinarian office with a dog that he said he got from the shelter. The dog was an excuse to visit the vet, who ran a side business handling shady transactions. Mike then brought the dog to his daughter-in-law's house as a gift for Kaylee, who seemed thrilled with the pup, but her mom wasn't as enthused.

When Mike pointed out that burglars avoid homes with dogs, Stacey didn't quite buy that the little dog would scare anyone away, but she gave in and let Kaylee keep the dog.

While Mike was at their house, he received a call from the vet with his first assignment.
2. Jimmy was back in court, but this time, he was representing himself in a case against the retirement home lawyer. What did he successfully get dismissed?

Answer: Restraining order

The attorney for the Sandpiper Crossing assisted living home had blocked Jimmy from meeting with his clients at their facility. He claimed that Jimmy was too loud and flamboyant and was a disturbance to the residents. He further argued that the facility was only denying Jimmy access to the property and stated that Jimmy could meet with his clients off site.

As Jimmy told the judge, most of his clients were in the "I've fallen and I can't get up" category which made it difficult for them to meet him elsewhere.

The judge agreed with him.
3. What reason did Chuck give Jimmy to convince him that they needed to bring the retirement home class action lawsuit to Hamlin Hamlin & McGill?

Answer: It was too much work for two people.

Chuck convinced Jimmy that they couldn't handle the volume of work that would be involved in the class action lawsuit; Hamlin Hamlin & McGill had the resources to do the job more thoroughly and efficiently. As Chuck pointed out, most of the clients wouldn't survive to see the benefits from the lawsuit if the two of them worked the case alone because it would take many years, especially since the retirement home attorneys would drag them into nuisance suits just to keep them from pursuing the case. Jimmy reluctantly agreed, stating, "Hail Satan, I submit to the dark side."
4. In the middle of the night, while Jimmy was asleep, why did Chuck wrap himself in his space blanket and go outside?

Answer: To make a phone call

Besides being wrapped in the space blanket, Chuck wore an oven pit and carried a pencil. He took Jimmy's phone from the mail box and used the pencil to dial a number. After the other party answered, Chuck said, "No, it's me". We didn't know at that time who Chuck was calling but there were only a few possibilities. Even though Chuck appeared to be getting better, he hadn't made a phone call in a while so when Jimmy found out about the call, he said that, "The phone must have felt like a blowtorch in your ear".
5. Mike and the two goons-for-hire were waiting for their client in the corner of a parking garage. What was Mike's response when one of them asked him what he was packing?

Answer: Pimento sandwich

Mike was waiting in the garage with a paper sack on the ground behind him, when he was joined by two other men. The last guy did most of the talking, and when he asked what Mike was packing, Mike responded "a pimento, a pimento sandwich". Mike then nodded at the bag behind him and said, "Pimento is a cheese.

They call it the caviar of the south". The guy couldn't believe that Mike didn't have a gun, and when their client arrived, he told the client that they should cut "Uncle Fester" out of the deal since he hadn't brought a gun. Mike said that he could take one of the man's guns if he needed one and then proceeded to demonstrate how it could be done, leaving the man gasping for air on the ground.

The other guy took off in fear, so Mike got the job by himself, along with the full $1500 fee.
6. The client whom Mike was guarding was selling pills to Ignacio Varga. By what name did we better know Mr. Varga?

Answer: Nacho

We knew Nacho from his dealings with Tuco and his failed attempt at stealing the Kettlemans' money. The client, who asked to be called Pryce, was clearly on his first drug deal so Mike guided him through it. Mike had researched the buyer in advance and knew that Ignacio Varga was running his own operation unbeknownst to his boss (Tuco), so he knew that Varga wouldn't do anything to draw attention to himself; thus the drug deal would go smoothly. Mike gave Pryce a great speech: "The lesson is, if you're going to be a criminal, do your homework ... I've known good criminals and bad cops, bad priests, honorable thieves. You can be on one side of the law or the other, but if you make a deal with somebody, you keep your word." Incidentally, Pryce was played by Mark Proksch, known to fans of the U.S. version of "The Office" as Dwight's sidekick, Nate.
7. Even though Chuck appeared to be recovering from his illness, getting him to the Hamlin Hamlin & McGill conference was a challenge. What did Jimmy concoct to help Chuck make it to the meeting?

Answer: Space blanket-lined suit

Jimmy had lined Chuck's suit with a space blanket to help keep out those pesky electromagnetic rays. The suit was noisy (crinkle, crunch, crinkle), but the blanket was hidden. They drove to HHM in Jimmy's car, and Chuck was able to get out of the car and walk to the building without any apparent discomfort.

Inside, the employees had prepared for Chuck's arrival by confiscating all of the cell phones and turning off the electricity. When Chuck entered the building, he was triumphantly greeted by the applause of the employees who lined the lobby. If it weren't for Kim, Jimmy would have been all but forgotten.
8. In the conference room at Hamlin Hamlin & McGill, Howard Hamlin presented Jimmy with the terms of the deal for bringing the retirement home class action lawsuit to the firm. What request made by Jimmy did Howard deny?

Answer: An office next to Chuck's

Jimmy assumed that by bringing the case to HHM, they would be hiring him. He told Chuck this after Chuck convinced him to hand the case to HHM. But after Jimmy made his request to Howard, Howard asked everyone to leave the room and told him, "Jimmy, I'm just going to say it. You're not working here." Howard wouldn't give him a reason other than to say that they weren't hiring new associates. Kim later confronted Howard about his treatment of Jimmy, telling him that Jimmy was a good lawyer. Howard basically told her to mind her own business but then had a change of heart and asked her to close the door. We soon found out what he told her.
9. Jimmy soon began to suspect that Chuck was involved in Howard's decision not to let him work at the law firm. What object tipped him off?

Answer: Dead cell phone

Kim was waiting for Jimmy at the salon that evening. She told him he needed to take the deal, which incensed Jimmy since it looked like she was taking Howard's side over his. Kim's actions may have raised his suspicions, but it was the dead cell phone that turned out to be the clue to the bitter truth.

He stared at the phone for a while, trying to understand why it was dead. He had pointed out to Chuck that it was dead when they were going to HHM and stated that he must have left it on when he put it in the mailbox last night, but that would be highly unusual for him.

After all, he'd been putting his phone in that mail box for well over a year now - he knew to turn it off or the ringing phone in the mail box would attract attention. So he called the phone company to see if there had been any calls made from the phone during the night and discovered there had been one placed to Howard Hamlin at 2 A.M. and that it had been deleted from the phone. We had seen Chuck make the call, but we didn't know whom he was calling until Jimmy revealed it.
10. When Jimmy confronted Chuck at the end of the episode, what did Chuck say was the reason for sabotaging Jimmy's attempt to work as a lawyer at Hamlin Hamlin & McGill?

Answer: "You're not a real lawyer."

Jimmy was at Chuck's house early the next day; he told Chuck that he'd been up all night thinking over Hamlin's offer and that he'd decided to accept it. Then Jimmy suggested that maybe Chuck should threaten to quit to force Hamlin to hire Jimmy. When Chuck hemmed and hawed, Jimmy confronted him with the dead cell phone and the deleted call to Hamlin. Chuck was downright venomous about Jimmy and his University of American Samoa degree: "What a joke! I worked ... to get where I am, and you take these short cuts and you think suddenly you're my peer?" He let Jimmy know that Jimmy's history would always be with him: "I know what you were, what you are... Slippin' Jimmy with a law degree is like a chimp with a machine gun!" The bitter, heart-wrenching scene ended with Jimmy giving Chuck the status on his food and fuel situation and telling him that he was on his own.
